FIFA 12 Fixes coming
The Fans Have Spoken
The console versions of FIFA 12 will be getting an update according to an EA announcement recently. Within the next month a patch will be coming out which will make some corrections to things that have been irritating FIFA 12 gamers. There will likely be a change in Head to Head Season mode regarding how defending is done, although it isn’t clear if that is in this patch or one to come. The specific “issues” were not given, however EA did suggest that the changes were a result of player feedback. They plan to have other updates in the future which addresses player feedback as well. Its always nice to see developers willing to make changes and fixes based on what the gamers want, well done EA.
Team Bundi shutting down
Will L.A. Noire have a sequel?
Team Bondi, the developer that released L.A. Noire, hasn’t had a very good summer despite its success with the game. The studio received loads of criticism from former employees regarding the poor working conditions and relationship with its publisher Rockstar. Now the studio appears to have filed paperwork which indicates that the studio will be closing soon. Additionally a liquidator was recently assigned to the studio to sell off assets and pay debts.
L.A. Noire, which was a successful game, was the only game that the studio had released. The game was in development for about ten years before it was finally released. Rockstar is interested in turning L.A. Noire into a franchise, so if we are lucky we may see a sequel although Team Bondi won’t be the developer. There is some good news for PC gamers, there should be a PC version of the game released next month.
It’s a shame that Team Bondi couldn’t have held it together, relaxed and had some fun with their development. I doubt L.A. Noire would be any worse of a game if administration had lightened up a bit. Perhaps a lesson for the industry as a whole, you don’t need to crack a whip to put out a great game, you just need to keep the passion for fun alive.
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Newest Transformer game is in the works
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is said to be the upcoming Transformers sequel. Reports are that it is currently in development and is expected to improve on many of the fundamental aspects of the franchise. There are not many details other then the developer, High Moon, hopes to make it a bit darker then the previous game. More information on the game is expected sometime in November.
Duke Nukem Forever Add-on
Coming soon!
Duke Nukem Forever is expecting its first add-on pack titled Hail to the Icons Parody this week. The add-on pack is expected to be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on October 11th and features four new maps, new weapons and three new modes, all for the multiplayer part of the game.
The add-on pack will be free for First Access Club. Gearbox is also releasing a patch for the game that supports add-on pack and fixes some bugs in the game. Even though Duke Nukem Forever didn’t receive the greatest reviews it did end up being June’s second best selling game and this particular gamer is still enjoying it.
Tropico 4 coming to Xbox 360
Enjoy the power of the rule
Since late August, PC gamers have enjoyed dictating the activities of the virtual Caribbean citizens in Tropico 4. On October 18th Xbox 360 gamers will be able to take on the role of El Presidente and wield their iron fists of power on the isle of Tropico. Act as tyrant or benevolent leader through 20 mission campaigns. The Political options will expand, allowing you to appoint ministers to help pass those pesky unpopular decisions into law. Deal with Foreign powers as you choose, including assassination. Finally 360 gamers will have the chance to see what PC gamers have known for a while .. this is one fun game!
3DS Ice
Nintendo adds to the color palette
Nintendo’s 3DS is following the tradition of its predecessor the DS by adding to its color palette. Recently Nintendo announced that it will be releasing a new Ice White colored 3DS in Japan on November 3rd. The Misty Pink colored 3DS will be out in Japan very soon, October 20th.
Not wanting to leave out any of its systems, Nintendo will be releasing a Wii bundle that sports a new pink Wii Remote Plus along with a copy of Wii Party. You will have a choice of the black or the white Wii console and besides the pink Remote Plus the bundle will include a black or a white Remote Plus and nunchuk and will be available late November in Japan.
My Self Defense Coach
Kinect Exclusive
The My Coach series by Ubisoft allows players to get lessons on a whole host of things such as understanding your dog to learning Spanish. The publisher recently announced that its next in the My Coach series will be lessons on self-defense.
My Self Defense Coach will be out on November 8th exclusively for Microsoft’s Kinect in North America and November 11th in Europe. The game, also titled Self-Defense Training Camp, will help you learn how to safely react to “troublesome” situations and protect yourself from “various forms of physical assault.” It does this using a series of fitness and martial arts workouts. The primary focus will be in technique, stamina, reflexes and composure. There will also be some mini-games to participate in designed to tune your reflexes as well as some meditation exercises.
Raving Rabbids TV Show
Plus new game info
The Raving Rabbids broke free of Rayman when they got their own game in 2006 and have since created their own following. Fans of the crazy little rabbit-like creatures will be happy to know that they are set to get their own television show.
According to Ubisoft, the Rabbids will have 78 CG episodes, each about seven minutes long on Nickelodeon. Their show will include three episodes at a time to generate a 30-minute show that will be aired world wide.
Jean-Julien Baronnet, Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO, recently stated that “Nickelodeon is one of the world’s leading entertainment brands for children and families, and Ubisoft is thrilled to be partnering with Nickelodeon to deliver unique television programming to its viewers,” it does seem to be the perfect network for the crazy little critters. Baronnet went on to state “This partnership represents a major milestone in Ubisoft’s strategy to expand its brands to new media, thereby attracting new audiences to its games.”
Besides a television show, the Rabbids have a new game coming out in November exclusively for the Xbox 360 Kinect. The game, Raving Rabbids: Alive & Kicking, is coming out too early for the show to have any promotional impact. The television show won’t be airing until sometime in 2013, yet, it wouldn’t surprise me if a new game were available come air time.
Red Dead Redemption
Dead for the PC
Even though Red Dead Redemption has been out for over a year now, Rockstar has shown no interest in bringing the game to the PC stating that it “wouldn’t be viable.” Rockstar has been criticized recently for “abandoning” PC gamers. They responded to this criticism by stating that with L.A. Noire coming to PC in the fall and Max Payne 3 set to have a PC release, they hope those abandonment criticisms will be laid to rest. They added that when Red Dead Redemption becomes technically viable (both in terms of development and business sense) they will likely do a PC release. Rockstars statement to its PC games was that “we hope that between the Grand Theft Auto titles, and the forthcoming L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3, you’ll have plenty of great Rockstar action to enjoy.”
King of Pirates
Pirate action for the 3DS
After 23 years with Capcom, Keiji Inafune left the company last year and branched out on his own to create The Island of Dr. Momo. It wasn’t exactly what his fans had expected to see from him. Recently Inafune announced that he is working on his second game, the first console game his new company has developed. King of Pirates is a multiplayer supported, action-RPG game for the 3DS and is expected to be released next year.
Inafune states that “The story is set in the adventurous great ocean where heroes fight for their ambition, justice, and their lives.” He also offers a promise to his fans, stating “I will not disappoint you.” Currently the game is planned for a Japanese release with no mention of a release elsewhere. However, since the games official website has an English version, its likely that it will also release in North America and Europe at some point.
