Is Wii healthy?

How effective is Wii when it comes to exercise?wii-fit-big.jpg

Let’s face it. One of the biggest challenges and hurdles that game companies and their employees face is the fact that many people believe that obsessive gaming can have some MAJOR effects on a person’s health. Due to the lethargic habits that most people tend to develop when they become freakishly obsessed when it comes to gaming, their health takes a huge toll from the lack of physical exercise (and no, exercising through flicking the remote does not qualify as a form of exercise). Well, we can never under estimate gaming moguls (or moguls to generalize) when it comes to sniffing out money.

Salaries of Game Experts

April 21, 2008 By: Lynder Category: General, Industry News 5 Comments →

“New information from the U.S. Census Bureau reinforces the value of a college education: workers 18 and over with a bachelor’s degree earn an average of $51,206 a year, while those with a high school diploma earn $27,915. Workers with an advanced degree make an average of $74,602 and those without a high school diploma average $18,734”, according to the U.S. Census Bureau website.

Yes, college degrees can double your earnings for the year. Although relying solely on your talent is not really that bad, as there are lots of millionaires, and even billionaires, out there who were not lucky enough to get into college due to lack of funds or whatnot, it is the thing is, not everyone can rise to the top as the lucky ones were able to do. Making BIG Money on Gamers

April 17, 2008 By: Lynder Category: General, Industry News 8 Comments →

Seems to a lot of people, there are a lot of mess ups and mistakes happening in the gaming world recently. Not only are unlikely and potentially messy mergers happening everywhere (but these companies might just prove us wrong, no one is a total know-who when it comes to the ever changing flavor of the masses), but companies seem to be totally going nuts when it comes to their console and game pricing. Pricing, which should have been one of the first things in these (ahem, money grabbing) corporate hotshots minds seem to be getting unpredictable and even mind boggling.

Gamers and Ageing

April 13, 2008 By: Lynder Category: General, Industry News 10 Comments →

Some kids teach themselves how to play piano when they’re 2 years old, some learn to draw incredibly detailed sketches or paintings, and a lot of people interpret this as a wonderful development of natural talents.

oldppeeps.jpgNow a serious question is asked by some of the industry’s biggest authorities are put forth, is there really a period in a young gamer’s life where they will be able to learn gaming skills and techniques as they do with language?

Splurging for Rock Band

April 11, 2008 By: Lynder Category: General, Industry News 1 Comment →

Rock Band, one of the biggest and most successful games nowadays is ready for its UK debut. But hey, there seems to be a lot of chaos going on. No wonder Harmonix were so tight lipped about the price tags of this phenomenal game… They knew the angry mob was going to get them; they were just trying to stall them.update22_rockband.gif

If you are a gamer in the US, and you already have the game, you’re lucky. UK fans need to shell out £95 more than you did in the land of the free. Yup, gaming is getting more and more expensive, so to the gamers out there who are not yet earning a steady income, you better prepare, who knows how much you’ll have to pay for a hot game next month.

Anonymity; Warps Our Manners?

April 08, 2008 By: Lynder Category: General, Industry News 3 Comments →

untitled.JPGWhen we were kids, almost all of us were raised with manners that would most probably last for a very long time. During interaction with other people, our manners and etiquette are tested, especially when there are rude people trying to make us blow our top.

These rude people we’re talking about especially exist in our (tsk, much beloved) cyber world. Sure a lot of people, if not all of us, encounter these (ahem did anybody say disturbed?) types. Most blame the warped behavior of these people to the lack of identification in gaming worlds. But really, that’s not a solid case.

Turning Barbaric

April 06, 2008 By: Lynder Category: General, Industry News 3 Comments →

With the growth of the gaming industry, and our lack of proper social lives (not that it’s our fault!), we’ve started turning to gaming for at least some sort of escape from our otherwise gray lives. Gamers can range from young kids to teenage players, and even girdle wearing oldies. But really, what’s the point of comparing ages as long as everyone is a decent player.

Over the years, games developed from black and white to colored, 2D to 3D, from the Television Screens to small, portable little screens. This is because of the never-ending demands of children who get hooked up to mind-challenging and adventurous games.

One of them is Paramount, who is soon to start publishing and developing games. The company has stated that they are planning to get into real games from their film production and distribution.
