Freeze Race-on luigis mansion when you get to the staircase leading to the inside of the mansion start driving backwards and the game will automatically freeze. Ride the rails-on mushroom bridge when you get to the bridge part ride on the side and do the moonjump cheatcode and you will be riding on the rails of the bridge. | ||

| Here are some hints to know during gameplay: Stealing Other Racers Items: During a race, get a mushroom. Get close to the back of someones kart. Use the mushroom and ram into them. If they have an item, you will be able to get it and use it. (In Battle Mode; Balloon Mode; this works to steal other racers balloons) Drifting: Use L and R during turns to drift. Drifting makes it easier to turn larger and sharper curves. Speed Boost: Besides landing on speed parts of the tracks, you can get an alternate speed boost. While drifting, hit left and right on the control pad fast. Your kart should have red sparks on the wheels. Keep drifting and let go of L or R and you should get a short boost of speed. Rainbow Road Glitch-Falling Up: When racing on Rainbow Road, on one of the loops, hit the side when you are going upside down. You should fly off the track, falling, and at the angle they show you falling at it will look like you are falling straight up. (If you do this in certain places, you fall onto another part of the track.) Small Jumping: During a race, Hit L and R with out turning and you should jump a little bit off the ground. Do this off ramps to get extra air. | ||

| One way to protect yourself from a blue shell is by having used a ghost, a star or a bullet bill while the shell attempts to blow you up. That way you'll just stay on the ground when it blows up. Another way to protect yourself is by dodging it. This takes practice, and it is only possible in 150cc. First you must be drifting when the shell approaches you. Right before it hits you, release R to stop drifting and press R again to hop very quickly, so that you can go faster than the mini-turbo speed with the hop. But you must do it with really good timing. There's another way. Its by using an item and getting hit by that rather than by the blue shell. If you have a fake item box, throw it forward (prefferably on a straight). Before the shell hits you, you hit the fake item box, and if timed good, you'll flip over when the shell explodes, and you don't get hit by the shell itself. It takes some damage, but it's better than nothing. | ||
