Hero Academy [ Review ]A lot of people play games as simple distractions and time killers, while others seek challenge and competition. Then, there are those in between who like the challenge, but also the lightheartedness that some titles offer. Hero Academy is a very good example, which has done quite well in the iOS. It has now been made available for the PC, and there is good reason to give this title a good look.
This game does look quite good, with graphics that are both smooth and vibrant. The presentation is quite simple, emulating a board game. The character models look like high [ ...More ]

DOTA 2 - Hero Guide: Venomancer [ Guide ]Most people want to play the carries and the hard hitters in DotA 2, taking the main roles in every game. Then, there are those who take the supportive roles. At least with tanks, they look badass, but supports don't get enough appreciation for what they do. One exception though is Venomancer, because he is that good.
Overview
As a hero, Venomancer is quite versatile and is able to fit into most teams. He does have below average strength and vitality, as well as low agility, so he's not much of a frontal assault type. But for what he lacks in physicality, [ ...More ]

Siege Hero (iOS) [ Review ]With Angry Birds becoming massively popular in the mobile market, it spawned a whole new subgenre of puzzle games that can be called "physics destruction". It takes advantage of a physics engine to simulate gravity, ballistics, and how things respond to motion, impact, and other manipulations. The casual aspect of such games makes this very friendly to the mobile platform, especially the iOS. Siege Hero is no exception, although plays in a very different way.
Armor Games, developers of numerous games that have taken over the web, had made Crush the Castle, which was this tongue-in-cheek medieval puzzle game that was [ ...More ]

Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega New Climax [ Review ]About two years ago in Japan, you would be looked at with surprise if you were playing Half-Minute Hero instead of Monster Hunter. The former is an unusual RPG game on PSP that has, what at first looks like, a primitive 8-bit art style; the latter is a hugely popular gaming franchise in Japan. Yet the quirky and original concept of Half-Minute Hero was a big hit in Japan, and the game has since gained a cult following outside the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’. Now, Half-Minute Hero is back and in high definition on the Xbox 360. [ ...More ]

Naruto Shippuden: Shinobi Rumble [ REVIEW ]The Nintendo DS has hosted an awful lot of Naruto games. At this point, it would help if Tomy gave us all a scorecard to keep track of two different Ninja Councils, two other Path of the Ninjas, a pair of Ninja Destinys, Naruto vs. Sasuke, the Japan-only Naruto RPGs, and however many other Narutos we've long forgotten about.
To make matters more confusing, the new Naruto Shippuden: Shinobi Rumble doesn't have much in common with any other DS game, at least once you look under the hood. It's the first handheld entry in the series from Eighting, the company that [ ...More ]

Surprise surprise, it's another Guitar Hero game and it's hitting stores across the globe just before Christmas. But for possibly the first time when talking about Guitar Hero, we can honestly say you should save your money and not cough up for Guitar Hero: Van Halen.
No, I don't just have something personal against Van Halen as a band - far from it - I fully appreciate their career which has spanned more than three decades, as well as the impact their music has had on that of other modern acts. The problems with Guitar Hero: Van [ ...More ]

DJ Hero - First Look
Despite the presence of mammoth game titles like new Metal Gear Solid, Red Faction and Star Wars games, DJ Hero tore up the crowds at E3 2009 and looks set to be the next big thing when it's released later this year.
You can probably guess that DJ Hero comes from those behind the incredibly popular Guitar Hero franchise, and it should come as no surprise that Activitision are looking to cash in on that success with spin-off titles. DJ Hero brings a whole new peripheral and an entirely new genre of music to gamers with a love of such addictive [ ...More ]
