| Tips For Bonding With Your Dog, Getting Trainer Points, Getting Rich Quick, & Winning Every Contest! | 91% | |
| BONDING WITH YOUR DOG: 1. Pet your dog every day, but not too much. 2. Bathe your dog every day, even when their coat status reads "Clean". Brush after bathing (this will also give you trainer points). 3. Walk your dog every day, several times a day. 4. Teach your dog new commands every day, and practice old ones. 5. Enter competitions and win (more on that later). 6. Play with toys and other dogs every day. The more time you spend with your dog, the more loyal they become. The more loyal they become, the more rare presents they bring you and the better they will do in obedience competitions. GETTING TRAINER POINTS: 1. When you're petting your dog and a bone made of light appears, you've made your dog very happy. Feed them this bone and you get trainer points! (NOTE: this bone appears more often when you're training your dog). 2. When you're out for a walk and you come across another trainer, don't miss the opportunity to make a new friend and some trainer points! Scroll through the message you get that says you've met another trainer. When you get to the message that says what that trainer's advice is, STOP. DO NOT tap the little red arrow yet. Watch the other trainer's dog. At first, they might be hopping all over the place, but once they lie down for around five seconds (let all that hyperactivity out), tap the red arrow and dismiss the advice tidbit. Is the other trainer's dog STILL laying down? If so, grab your dog's leash and gently drag them towards the other dog. They might sniff noses and start playing together (the music will change to a gentle, soft melody). If the dogs don't sniff noses, keep repeating AS LONG AS THE OTHER DOG IS LYING DOWN! If they're not lying down and you move your dog closer, a fight may start and that will put your dog in a bad mood. If the other dog is NOT lying down, CAREFULLY (so as not to spark your dog into action) pull your dog's leash towards the lower left hand corner. This will take most of the slack out of the lead and prevent your dog from moving forward. Playing with other dogs gives you trainer points, puts your pup in a good mood, and also makes them more friendly, so they'll gradually become less and less likely to pick fights. 3. Enter contests and win (again, more on that later). 4. Every time you call your dog and they come, your dog brings you a toy after you've thrown it, or every time they perform the correct command, pet lavishly on the head. 5. Bond with your dog! 6. Go to the screen where you brush your dog. Place the brush in the middle of the dog. Plug your DS into the adapter so it doesn't die, leave your DS open, and then walk away. You get one trainer point for every real-life minute that passes by. GETTING RICH QUICK: 1. CONTESTS! 2. When you come back from a walk, sell anything you don't want or need. Alternately, walk your dogs over a period of several days, then sell the surplus of items you don't want. 3. Never, ever, EVER go to the Pet Supply Store unless it's an absolute EMERGENCY! Always, always ALWAYS go to the Discount Shop! 4. Whenever you're stocking up on supplies, always buy frequently (every two to three days) and in small increments so that you never run out of necessary items. This helps save money. WINNING EVERY CONTEST: 1. Practice every day, several times a day. Go to the gym and work on clearing obstacles, challenging yourself and your pup by trying to make your dog better and faster with each session Your dog will become much more confident, a vital step in bonding and training. Go to the park and practice throwing the disc until your pup can catch it in midair and/or automatically bring the disc back. (Remember to pet your puppy when they bring the disc back!) In an empty house or park, run your dog through his tricks several times, varying the order in which they're performed. Also, see if you can gradually wean your dog away from being petted every single time they execute the correct command when teaching advanced tricks, you cannot pet between commands. 2. In agility, remember that as your dog becomes more confident at clearing obstacles, they will also become faster. If you're not careful and you don't guide your puppy well, they will dash to the nearest obstacle, which, in competitions, often isn't the correct one. In the championship, one fault may put you third place, two may get you disqualified. GUIDE YOUR PUPPY WELL! When training your dog, mix up the order in which you have them clear the obstacles. This prepares them for the complexity of Championship-level courses. 3. Put the Lucky Collar on the dog that's about to compete. Enough said. 4. Before you enter a contest, save you game. If, despite all your training, your dog isn't doing too well, shut the power off a little while before the results are announced. That way, you can try again without docking up on your daily contest limit. 5. When teaching your dog commands, either use monotone (it's easier for your system to recognize) or or think of a sound that's like the verbal cue. For example, when teaching my dog "sit", one of the first sounds that comes to my mind is the particular enunciation from "Toy Story" when Sid tells his dog to sit, so that's the sound I try to mimic. Uniform, clear enunciation is key! 6. If ever you find a "Naptime" record on your walk, keep it, this is a very valuable item! Just as its name implies, the "Naptime" record gently lulls a puppy to sleep. This is valuable because dogs actively involved in training have their energy reserves dried up pretty quick. A tired dog will not perform well in disc or agility. A tired dog may not have the same mental capacity for learning tricks as a well-rested one. And a tired dog is more likely to find trash to eat on walks as opposed to presents. Frequently-rested dogs also hardly ever fall sleep during the day they're either already asleep, waiting for their trainer to return and wake them up, or they're too rested up to need to. Play the record and put your dogs down for a nap every time you wish to shut your DS off. When you start the game up again, your dogs will still be sleeping, so just tap the whistle icon to wake them up. So, either you're playing with your dogs, or your dogs are sleeping! Never underestimate the power of a well-trained Nintendog team! | ||
