| Description: Some good techniques to dodge red and green turtle shells while racing. To dodge red shells, put a banana behind you, by either dropping it there or holding it there. When the red shell collides with the banana, its effects will be nullified, allowing you to proceed with the race unhindered. To dodge green shells, use the same technique as listed for the red shell above if the shell is coming straight at you or is bounced off a wall. In other situations, use the three-shell weapon. | If you're racing online, items will usually determine the winner at the end, and not skill. It's all luck when it comes to items, except when you're the victim. You don't want to get hit, so what do you do? Just do the following for any of these items: Red Shell: You can hold an item behind you, jump over a gap, make the item crash into a wall, or enter a cannon. Green Shell: Although not as deadly as the red shell, a green shell can come from anywhere, so keep your eyes peeled. Holding an item behind you protects your back. Launching another shell forwards saves your face. Braking can be useful to let a shell fly right by you for protection to the sides. Blue Shell: There is only one solution: If you have a mushroom, right before the blue shell explodes, use it to escape from the blast. Bob - Omb: Stay away from the bombs. They WILL activate if you come near them, so stay away, and you should stay in one piece. Thunder Cloud: Hot Potato anyone? Be a jerk and pass it to another player to not get shrunk. If you have one on like the final stretch or something like that, keep it as it'll give you a little speed boost. ) Mega Mushroom / Star: Stay as far away as you can from the giant. Normally, people like to go out of their way to cause havoc, so good luck with that. Giants are actually not invincible, so Star users and Bullet Bills can make them look bad. By the way, Mega Mushrooms are KILLERS on Mushroom Gorge and GBA Bowser Castle 3, as they can be activated on the consecutive jumps, which can make you fall in the abyss / lava. Mushrooms: Stay away from mushroom users. If someone uses a mushroom, it can push people pretty hard, so you'll want to be careful on tracks with pits and such. Bullet Bill: Don't drive in the middle, as the Bullet Bill does just that. Lightning: If you're using a star / Bullet Bill, and someone uses lightning, you won't be zapped! If a giant gets zapped, they get converted to normal size. Fake Item Box: Fake Item boxes are red and not blue, so keep an eye out for those suspicious boxes. Did I forget to mention that the fake item boxes work REALLY well behind real item boxes? Blooper: SERIOUSLY? You get killed by a blooper? Just look through the cracks, or the on-screen map if you have to. POW Block: Here's how to avoid POWs on land: Wii Wheel: Flick the wheel up just before the big rumble happens: Nunchuck: Flick the Wii Remote up. Classic Controller / Gamecube Controller: Press up on the directional pad. Another way to avoid POWs is to go in the air. They do NOTHING to you in the air, plus your items are safe, too! | ||

| Ok to get a 1 star rank do the following: -Try to limit yourself to at least 3-4 items or 2-3(and try not to rely on items to get you to 1st place you could get an item but not use it until you are 100% sure you need it and by that I mean leave it in the box thing at the top right corner) -Try to get First during the entire cup (getting Second one time is ok) -Try not to fall off 1-2 times would be acceptable -Do as many tricks,wheelies, POW block dodges(I think flipping the wii remote up as if you were trying to do a wheelie works with karts too because I did that a few times with a kart on flat ground and dodged it) etc. as possible.(Also try to hold your drifts for as long as possible too) -Try not to bump into walls and don't go off-road unless you have a mushroom that will let you take an off-road shortcut. -Someone here said getting first while hit with alot of blue shells helps too "as it shows you have resistance" -Try to stay First for the entire race. -Try to finish as fast as possible. -Try to get 53 points. Umm I guess that's it for a 1 Star rank. To get a 2 star rank you have to do the following: -Try to stay in First place for the entire cup placing second once is ok. -Try to limit yourself to 1-2 items and don't rely on them too much to get you to first place. -Try to stay on the road at all times unless you have a mushroom to take you through an offroad shortcut. -Don't bump into walls or obstacles.(I don't know about characters but I think that affects your rank or not) -Try not to fall (falling 1 time is acceptable) -Try to do even more tricks,wheelies,POW block dodges,drifts,etc. than as many as you did to get one star(again try to hold your drifts as long as possible and try dodging red shells without items as that may harm your rank so instead when a turn is coming and you are close to it but the red shell warning is there the try to sharp turn that turn causing the red shell to crash in the wall just try to stay on the road and not bumping into stuff or walls) -Finish as fast as possible -Try to lead the entire race. -The blue shell thing works too according to that guy. -Try to get 55 points or more. Umm I think I got it all for 2 stars. Now to get three stars you must do ALL of the above requirements: -You MUST finish in first place all of the time and get 60 points in total. -You may only get 1 or no items. - You MAY NOT fall off of the track. - You must do even more tricks,wheelies,drifts,POW block dodges,etc. -You cannot bump into walls or obstacles maybe 1 or 2 times is ok( I still dont know about bumping into characters) -You must try to get as far away from your opponents as possible and finish even faster. -You must lead the entire race (or at least a huge most of it but you have to finish first) -No going off-road unless you have a mushroom to take you through an off-road shortcut. -Yeah the blue shell thing may work too. | Red shell dodging without items | 75% | |
| Red shells almost always hit unless you have a shell/bananna, but there is another way. red shells are like heat seeking missles if you cut a sudden curve around the inside of a turn it will hit the wall because it doesn't have time to change it's course. (do not try this on an area like grass unless you have a kart with good offroad because if you cut through grass it will either hit you and slow you down more having to get out off the offroad area, or you will waste more time getting out of the offroad part than it would if you got hit by a shell. off course there is one more way than that to but it's not as accurate. like on a jump the shell might go under you. (not recomended because only works if the red shell is VERRY CLOSE to you when you jump.) | ||

| I saw another player on Wifi do this one. It's best to be in a kart, not a bike. First, you back up when the race starts until you fall into the lava. You will appear on the ledge behind it when the Lakitu rescues you. Now at an angle, drift towards the jump platform. Try to position yourself towards a small island in the middle of the course. If you do this perfectly, you will land on the island. There, go around the island like you're driving on a miniature version of the course. You will be able to make those three laps in the matter of only about a minute and a half. To tell the truth, I've never really completed this myself, but I've gotten as far as the jump platform. | ||

| More than one person can be the same character. First, make P1 choose the character you both want to be. Then unselect the character and move off of it. Move P2 over, and select the character. Go back one screen, then go into the character select again. You should both be on the same character. Both of you select the character. Do whatever you want from there on. Note: In the character select screen and options, whenever one of you does an animation, both of you will. Also, if P2 chooses a different kind of vehicle than P1, P1 will look strange. Don't worry, this won't actually happen in the game. I haven't tested this with P3 or P4 yet, but in theory, it should work. Please Rate! | ||

| Throughout Mario Kart there are a lot of hidden passageways so keep an eye out for them. Warios Gold Mine: Follow the Gold Carts onto a seperate road. Daisy Circuit: Just after starting there is a set of steps and there is a huge speed booster. Bowsers Castle: When in the mud section there is a narrow opening in the wall. Peach Beach: Follow track until you get to the sand then turn left and do the jump. Sherbet land: After you've been through the ice cube place stay close to the right wall. Maple Treeway: St the start look for a hole in a fence go in it and you'll be at the cannon. Maple Treeway 2: When nearing the finish land go up the ramp into the tree. Mushroom Gorge: Stay left at the start and when on the mushroom and bounce left. Coconut Mall: At the start go up the escalator and go right but you'll need a mushroom.
