| Building Your Population It is recommend that you build your population as early as you can, since even if you only have a handful of cities with 31 population in the capital, you will be able to generate enough research and gold to win the Tech or Economic victory conditions. At 31 population, each population will generate 1 Production and 8 Resources (Research/Gold), giving you 248 research per turn (without Libraries and Universities). Catapults & Early-Era Armies If you see that an enemy army or catapult is heading your way, your first instinct is to head them off - IGNORE THAT INSTINCT. LET them come to you. All catapult and early era armies will only have ONE Movement cost, which will mean that unless they are on a road, they will have to be left undefended for a turn. Normally you will notice that a Catapult/Catapult Army is accompanied by an Archer Army, so what you need to do is get TWO of your offensive units (more if there are more than two armies/catapults heading your way) to be two tiles away. Then wait for them to come near to your tile. At this point attack all the units on the tile. Your own Horses and Catapult armies will work great for this strategy. It is also highly recommend that you try to get the upgrade that allows an extra movement AFTER they've attacked for both units. This will mean that after attacking you can go back into your own territory, and heal/wait for the next set of armies. Doing this you can slowly advance, into the enemy territory defeating their units before they can even attack. TIP: If they are occupied by Knights, try to leave a weak spot in one of your cities, since the AI habitually seems to head for that weak spot. Use this to your advantage by attacking them when they're just behind you (blocking their path will result in them attacking you, so always go for the offensive, and never be defensive). Japanese & One Tile Cities When playing as the Japanese, find a piece of land that only has ONE ground tile, that is surrounded by ocean and ONLY ocean. Build a city here. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PROTECT THIS CITY, since the AI cannot possibly attack it unless they can land somewhere on the tile, which they wont be able to do. Aircraft also cannot take cities, so your pretty safe. Now, the city itself will not produce anything BUT science/gold and will grow exponentially because it'll be getting a food source from the sea/ocean. On top of that, what you need to do is, RUSH the production for Courthouse when you have the option, and RUSH build a wall so some other AI doesn't flip it (though you will be told long before hand that there is a chance of a flip). With a courthouse, you will be using all your population on beakers, and when your population goes above something like 12-13, you will start producing some actual production. At this point simply build libraries and universities (rush them if you have the gold). This one city is a gold mine, since it can't be taken by any means besides flipping (which the wall protects against) and it'll produce continuous amounts of research or gold each turn. Put a great leader in the city, and you will be amazingly rich/knowledgeable. Also build a Harbor in the city as soon as you can, since harbours give +1 food from tiles, which will mean that your city will grow even faster. If you are short on money, use the first few turns to get gold instead of research, but after you've built a courthouse and harbour (with that money), your population growth should be incredibly high. Enough for you to be able to put up buildings without any other resource tile. This can also be done with another civ, however, you need to get the Harbor first, since without it, the city wont grow (The Japanese have special beginning bonus). Tips For Win On Deity For a sure bet win on Deity difficulty, you need to play the 'Beta Centuari' Scenario as the Mongols. In this scenario, you will notice a large amount of Barbarians and they are pretty much everywhere. So at the start of the game, fortify your unit and start creating another Modern Infantry/Tank/Artillery - please note that in this scenario you start with ALL of the technologies, and Technology victory is disabled. With this unit start taking down all of the Barbarian huts, since the Mongols have the special ability to turn Barbarian Huts into Cities when captured, in a couple of turns you will notice that you have close to 5-6 new cities where your opposing civs will usually only have the one or two (the quicker you go around converting these barbarian huts the better). Near the end game, you may have some problem with cities with large armies of Modern Infantry. The best way to deal with them is a combination of Battleship Fleets on the side (for +27 Naval Support) and armies of Artillery that have City Infiltration. Using Spies to destroy fortifications is also very helpful. Sending in multiple bombers to deal heavy damage before you deal the final blows can also help (not to be done if your against the Aztecs who heal themselves after each victory). Each time you convert a city you should also switch it from producing Research beakers into Gold. This will increase your Gold Reserves significantly. Also note that you should NOT build the Library unless you have absolutely nothing else to build. If your city is next to a civs, then you should build a Wall before anything else, and the Hollywood Wonder as well (so that they do not). This will stop your cities from being flipped via Culture. Bombs Away - Nuke Em Boys! When using Nukes, you should keep your units a minimum of two tiles away from the enemy city that you are about to bomb, otherwise you will find that your units will also take a hit, since Nukes will destroy everything in the city (and unless it is a capital, the city itself) and do major damage to the units AROUND the city. | Use the Egyptians | 74% | |
| One surefire way to stay ahead in Diety is to get techs first. Egyptians are the only civ to get food and trade from the same land square. So, settle your capital so it has at least 1 production square, 1 sea square, and hopefully 2 desert squares. This means you will be producing science and food from the same squares which means you are on your way to the alphabet before anyone else. If you manage it right, this small tech lead is enough to keep you ahead for the whole game. Other tips... Build 3 warriors, then a galley and make sure you send them all exploring. Once 100 gold is attained exploring and free settlers are attained rush a library. Tech like this (exploit the AIs unwillingness to fight early on by skipping military techs early)...Alphabet, Pottery, Masonry, Writing, Code of Laws, Democracy, Navigation.... This gets you a wall and trading post for free if you're first, huge for the Egyptians... You also haven't wasted resources on archers (which are now obselete) and you may have a free galleon.... Make sure you make 1 or 2 settlers while under a Republic, then switch to Democracy.... Build some protection cities at a bottleneck, and on a hill. Cities far away from your capital are likely to be near another civ, and likely to be attacked. Better resources don't help if another civ has taken your city... If you find Temple Wonder or Atlantis early wait.... building some temples and making sure you have a few cities built, or finishing some 1 and 2 turn techs can make these bonuses much more effective... Some techs have better bonuses than others, get these first. For instance, anything that gives you a free person (monarchy, invention) or extra resources to your city (extra science, production, culture, or gold) is usually better than an extra military unit. Also, techs that allow you to exploit more resources (iron, dye, oak, etc. ) are very important. See whats around and plan accordingly... Population growth is huge...Get aqueducts done ASAP. You don't notice it right away but if you do, come 1700, your cities will be producing way more than any others....Build harbors or granaries only if its a big advantage (at least two immediate squares that benefit). Also, pick a trade for each city. Your capital should be science, your second best trade should be gold, then more science. Don't build both libraries and markets in a city, thats wasteful... Play the turtle early no matter which victory you are going for. If you have cities that are built up, and you have tech completed you can switch from pacifist scientist to fascist war monger in only a few turns. Don't underestimate naval support for your tank armies either. More tips to come... | ||

| Tip for "Power Never Takes a Back Step" Achievement | 64% | |
| To get the Achievement for winning with one city play as the Russians, who get a map to start with. This should help you get a couple barbarian villages fast hopefully with tech or a galley. Russians also get bonuses for plains food to grow your city, guards units and half price riflemen for defense, and half price spies to demolish buildings, stop tech launches, and kidnap great people later. This can be crucial to preventing a neighbor getting a tech victory. Ideally you're on a peninsula or island that's easily defended, but if you find yourself surrounded by 3 cultures you may want to start with a new map. Two or less you can manage. You'll want to rush masonry to get a free city wall. If you do it right you can just turtle up with a vet warrior army and skip the archers going straight to riflemen. The other players will usually leave you alone for quite some time, so build your infrastructure up first before going tipping your hand- you should almost never have a balanced city output, pick a specific item and go all out for it. Don't build any offensive units unless you absolutely have to. Focus on archers, riflemen, and infantry but don't waste resources even on more than 1 army of these unless there is an imminent threat. Go for an economic win and rush certain techs to get your banks going. Make sure you get the Trade Fair of Troyes and East India Company wonders, as they'll boost your bling to high levels. After each economic milestone, spend a little cash to rush the next building you need (courthouse and harbor are important) and then focus your city back on gold with the occasional exception for a tech rush. Towards the end you may want to get a factory as it will cut the World Bank construction time in half. Everyone will come for you when you're almost done, so hide out behind your wall and only attack when artillery units are on your doorstep. Don't forget your half price spies which can steal huge amounts of gold (1500+ pieces per infiltration) to push you past the 20k mark and kidnap great people to halve your building costs. Patrol your shore with cruiser units if possible, and if you need to don't hesitate to spend a ton of gold rushing defensive units before you build the bank. Good luck! | ||

| The easiest way to win for any type of mach. (ecept tecnology) | 63% | |
| If you use the Mongolians civilization in the senario "Beta Centari". You can use them to win all types of victorys (Except tecnology) because. There are alot of barbarians in this scenario so you can get a lot of citys. And all of the tecnologys are allready discoverd and you have acces to all of the resorces and all of the military units are avalible. Although the barbarians attack more often but your defensive units upgrade more faster. (Example) the easiest way to win in deity mode is by cultural or economic victory because all of your units are the same so you can have a good defensive unit early on in the game. | ||

| Easy Domination victory | 60% | |
| When going for a domination victory in the modern era, you will probably face problems with modern infantry unless you're an era ahead, especially if you are trying to take a city on an island. If you are trying to find a way past, try this strategy: Load every unit you need onto a battleship fleet tanks, artillery etc. Put a settlers unit on too. Bring your fleet to the city and unload them. Then move the fleet around the side of the city. Note you should have at least two modern infantry army with you too. Put your settlers in a place nearby where they aren't under immediate threat and build a city. Defend this with the modern infantry. This city will act as a fueling base for your planes. Bring over bombers and put them in this city. Protect them with fighters, or else you'll be attacked. This won't work on the Aztecs, but will on everyone else. Start bombing them like mad, then when they're down to a strength you can conquer, start attacking with your ground troops. Be sure to put the planes in your base/city on time or they'll crash. This is especially helpful for Beta Centauri when you all have the same tech levels. Note there is an easy way if you can get a great builder at some point. When it askes if you wish to settle or expend it, select the bottom option, then hit ''X''. The builder will remain immobile until you manually activate him. Wait until you can build the Manhattan Project, then use him to complete it. Bring a unit, it doesn't matter which, to the city you are taking. Then launch the nuke at the city. It won't be destroyed but it WILL kill every unit stationed inside. The simply move your unit in and take it. This works as long as they haven't built the STI Defense, which will destroy the nuke. | ||

| Easiest cultural/ economic victory | 58% | |
| Defence, defence, defence. As soon as you have them build archer armies and walls in all of your cities. Better yet play as England and use longbow armies. When you have them build modern infantry and bombers. Keep the infantry in you cities to defend and use the bombers to kill any armies that try and surround you. you will probably only need one wing of these. You need at least one city surrounded on at least three sides by water to produce gold and one to produce science. upgrade accordingly, build markets and Banks in the first one and libraries in the other ones. courthouses and harbors in both. Build roads to all you cities. Build wonders in the cities that have highest production, and military in the rest until you have at least 2 armies of pike men or archers and 1 modern infantry in every city. Then build libraries, markets and banks in all of them, as well as courthouses and temples. Watch the enemies splat against you walls when you wont trade you tech with them. With this turtling method, on the lower levels of difficulty the other civs get so involved in making armies to try and take you out that the A.I. does not evolve. Don't trade you tech unless its on a higher tier than yours. you will find that you will have enough gold to build the world bank around 2000, and a cultural victory much earlier. Try to balance science and gold production, don't put leaders where you already have scientists, have cities set to specific tasks. Don't rush things after you have a wall and at least 1 defensive army in every city, unless its less than 50 gold or it is a wonder. the more you rush the longer the eco-victory will take. But with a solid defensive strategy you have all the time in the world. | ||

| Tips on picking Civilizations | 54% | |
| Most people will have trouble with picking the right civilization. So this is to them. They say "Which of these Civs are the best to use?" Well, I have made a number list to tell the best to least just to help these guys out. 1. Aztects (Can heal themselves after battle will come in handy later on. Also starts the game with wealth of gold) 2. Germany (Troops are veterens when you create them) 3. Spain (Starts with the reasearch "Navigation" already complete. BIG HELP.) 4. America (Has a great person to start out with Great to help start first research item) 5. England (Has the best defense with the longbow archers. Starts out knowing monarchy.) 6. Mongolia (Can convert Barbarian Cities into their own) 7. Zulu (Great combat overrun increase for their warriors) 8. Japenese (Has the research "Ceremonial Burial" completed. Probably best research to know to start game) 9. Romans (Have more great people and starts the game with code of laws) 10. French (Has a cathedral already built in main city. BIG HELP.) 11. Egyptians (Starts with Ancient Wonder. Also NO special units) 12. Greece (Starts out with a courthouse. All I have to say) 13. Russia (Has a local area map, useful in game but not that useful) 14. Arabs (Starts out with the research "Religion" already completed) 15. India (Starts out with not being affected by monarchy, but not a great help) 16. China (Starts out with the research "Writing" already completed) | ||

| Super Sized | 52% | |
| At the beginning of each game you start with your capital city. Right at the start study bronze working to get archers. Get your warrior unit to defend your city for any early comers while you're studying bronze working. Once you've finished studying bronze working, build enough archers for an archer army or two. Your city will be well defended and you are free to build buildings and wonders. By now you've probably encountered warriors or caravans from other kingdoms. If so, make peace with them because you could possibly use them for technology or great people or gold. Now, send out 1 or 2 units of settlers to found a couple cities and to grow your civilization. If people are offering you ridiculous offers, deny them and be at war with them for a couple of turns or until they offer peace again. Don't go to attack them, leave them to suffer under the might of your archer armies. This is good because this will probably upgrade your archers to veteran. (Don't leave your new cities unguarded either, build a couple of archer armies as soon as you found them) As you go on study cultural or technological technologies. Build aqueducts and factories to increase production. As you go on, your civilization will grow and grow to super size, as you reach to Technology, Culture and Economic victories. | ||

| At the beginning of the game, do not explore. Just stay in one place and build up your capital city/cities. Once you first meet a civilization, if you make peace with them, the game sets itself so that you have ten turns before that civilization starts threatening you. Start exploring whenever you have either Horseback Riding, Navigation, or the Space Flight first discovery bonus (whole map is revealed). | ||

| Again using the Beta Centurai Scenario and the Mongols. You can easily take over babarian camps which will be converted to your civilisation but they don't void the achievement, allowing you to have lots of powerful cities to get you through the game. | Nukin' Capitals | 48% | |
| You might think that in Civilization Revolution you are not allowed to nuke capitals. I wanted to see if that was true. I built the Manhattan Project because I wanted to win a Cultural Victory. I didn't need the bomb you get from it so I said "You know what, I'll just nuke a capital because your not allowed to do it." And when I nuked it, the population turned to a 1, and all defensive units had been destroyed. So I walked in with a Modern Infantry and nothing was there. That puts me in the lead for domination victory! | ||

| Confessions of a civ nut | 33% | |
| First id like to say that in general civ revolution is a great disappointment. The tactics used are very close to the same used in civ 3 and 4. First it is a game of war and while you may be successful against the computer being peaceful this will never work online. That being said you can go ahead and forget the greeks as a viable civ. Persia is the best followed by the Americans, and the Aztecs and Germans. The advantage of persia is that their vet warriors are as strong as legions. furthermore after you research 3 techs youve got cats, more than likely way before anyone else does. The jehad never ends my friends. The great advantage of America is that great leader, he should be exploring, along with your settler in order to find the best city possible. you dont have forever though its best to be settled by 3000. Furthermore its best to keep your settler implanted as to be able to settle in this ideal place. Now if your GP is an explorer try to settle right next to a rival civ. take the cash from the leader pop some warriors and take that city. 2 citys that early is usually enough to tip the scales of the game. Remember in civ early is always better. Cant find any civs? get a science gp? find some water and some growth research alphabet build that library and defend it wont take long to have an unbeatable tech advantage. the germans are nice if you build an early barracks and build as many warriors as possible. They will pop with a special ability immediately and when you research legions all of these units will upgrade. also FIND A FOREST. The aztecs are nice just because they heal after victory. the wealth of gold helps if you can find a close civ to settle next to and pop a warrior to kill them fast. Also england and spain arnt to bad. but you need to find whales or dye to make it worth while. But if you do its hard to stop. Finally if you want to know about some more advanced stragitys go to the civ 3 and 4 boards | ||

| Ok, so to build a super city you must play as the mongols. First, place a city right next to a barbarian village. If you are playing on king or higher make sure to defend the city. Next, get a warrior or horseman to capture the barbarian village. Since you are playing as the mongols it will turn into a city. Now you will have two cities right next to each other ad it will look like one major super city. NOTE: this works most of the time but not always. | ||
