| Infected Zombie - Your standard shambling zombie. Some are more aggressive than others, but they all go down pretty quickly. Their strength comes in numbers when they try to overwhelm you. Use the pistol and aim for the head if you have time, otherwise just clear a path and keep moving. Note: You can't simply walk through these zombies. If one is attacking you, you will not be able to move forward. Be sure to clear a manageable path before moving ahead too far. Tip: Listen for the specific audio cue that signals an incoming zombie horde swarm attack. Smoker - Smokers will try to grab you with their extremely long tongue and constrict you. As they draw you in, it may be possible to get a couple of shots off. If so, aim for the head. Once this window has passed, you will need a teammate to bail you out. When they are killed, a cloud of smoke emanates from their body, making it hard to see. Tip: Look for a trail of green gas to pick out Smokers in crowds. Hunter - Hunters are agile and they have dark hoodies on. They will leap at you, attempting to pin them down. Try to shoot them in midair as they come down at you. If you are pinned down, you will need to wait for a teammate to help you out. Tip: Listen for growls and snarls to know when a Hunter is nearby. Boomer - These obese zombies will try to vomit on you. If you get barfed on, you will be blinded and a horde of zombies will rush in to your location. Killing a Boomer too close to you will have the same result, as their exploding bodies will cover you in bile. Try to take the Boomer out from a distance before this can happen. If the Boomer is too close, use your melee attack to push it away and back up before shooting it. Tip: Listen for belching and vomiting noises to alert you when a Boomer is nearby. Witch - These pale females can be found crouching and crying. If you don't disturb them by getting too close to them or shining a flashlight on them, they won't attack you. Try to walk behind them, too. Going in front of them tends to make them take notice. Otherwise, be prepared to deal with an enemy that is very fast, powerful, and has a lot of health. It will try to pin you down like a hunter and eat your entrails like Garfield the cat eats lasagna. If this happens, you need a teammate to help you out. Tip: Listen for the sobbing and the creepy ghost music to know when a witch is nearby. Tank - The grandaddy of the infected. They move faster than you would think and can take a beating. It will try to corner you and pummel you into oblivion. Tanks will also pick up and throw concrete slabs at you, causing massive damage. Though they hurt, it is fairly easy to avoid these projectiles if you have some space to maneuver. Try and keep your distance from the Tank, while firing your most powerful weapon at it. If you find the Tank is single-minded going after you, stop firing at it while letting your teammates do some work. The Tank will go after someone else eventually. It helps to have obstacles that you can keep between you and the Tank. Tip: Listen for very dramatic music to know when a Tank is about to attack. You can feel and hear the rumbling noises as it approaches. | ||

| Pick up supplies and head out. You find yourself in a very large airport terminal. Take the time to clear out all the enemies you can from this vantage point. If The Director spawns a Tank down there, you can easily take it out before it gets even remotely close to you. Once you've killed all you can, go back in the safe room and restock on ammo. Then, continue forward into the conference center. Make your way down the long hallways here. If you need explosives, feel free to take detours into any of the conference rooms to look for them. However, be prepared to fight off some zombies. Eventually you'll find yourself back in the large terminal area. You should see some red gas jugs as you exit the conference area. Place one in the middle of the escalator and another on the bottom floor a little away from where you will be standing. Head down the stairs towards the white van and start it. Enemies will stream in from the second floor. Shoot the jugs to create a wall of fire and fend off the rest of the Horde. When the fence is down to the ticketing/check-in area, run down that path. Turn left and duck into the baggage check area. Follow the stopped conveyor belt around and into the back area. You will find a mess of stairs and catwalks here, not to mention zombies. Make your way up and over the stairs until you reach the end, then turn right and head down a final set of stairs through an open doorway into the security checkpoint. Head through the metal detectors and check next to the Atlas statue for any items. Go up the escalator to the right of the duty free and turn left. Walk down the hallway towards Gates B1-B3. Take care of any zombies you encounter and duck into Gate B2 for the safe room. | ||

| The Construction Site | 50% | |
| Stock up and exit. Turn left and make your way through the alleys. Note: Watch your friendly fire here, due to the narrow alleys. Clear out any zombies in the construction area here. You want to make your way inside the larger building to the second floor. There are three ways to do this. First, you can climb the ladder outside the construction yard to reach a landing with a sleeping bag. Usually The Director will put some explosive pickups for you to use here. The second way up is on the outside, by jumping up the spools and climbing a short ladder. Finally, there's a ladder inside the unfinished building that leads up. It doesn't appear to extend all the way up, but you can get to the top. There will be at least three gas jugs up here for you to use to set a trap for the imminent Horde invasion. If you are lucky, there will be weapons here as well. Your goal is to shoot the jug next to the fence on the left side of the area. While the fence is burning down, you will have to fend off the Horde. The best places to make a stand are either on the second floor of the building in the back corner or on the little raised area next to the burning fence on the ground floor. #Place the jugs to create a perimeter around the area you decide to make a stand. Shoot the jug next to the fence to start the event. Then, shoot each of the jugs you have placed once you see the Horde start coming at you. Once the path is clear, quickly run down the alley and turn left to reach the next area. Note: There usually is a pile of ammo at the corner of the alleyway where you turn left. Kill any idling zombies and head straight, through the hole in the "High Voltage" fence. Go through the next hole in a fence as well. When you are through to the other side, turn right and head to a seemingly dead end. There will be an open warehouse to your right. Walk inside and take the first door on your left. Open the first-aid cabinet and take any supplies here. Go through the door immediately to the right of the cabinet and head through the passageway on the left side. Keep moving through until you see the airport. Cross the wreckage until you reach the other side of the street, next to the doors. Turn left and walk forward, with the doors to your right. Note: 'Watch out for the zombies idling near the airport. The Director may use this time to unlash the Horde on you. Walk until you reach Terminal B, then take a left and walk back across into the parking garage. Go forward and turn right, heading through floor A. Take the ramp up to floor B and make your way across this floor as well. Go inside the door at the far end to the left. Follow the path across the sky bridge to reach the safe room on the left hand side. | ||

| Stock up on supplies and go out the door. Head up the stairs into a hallway. Move down the hallway, ignoring the side rooms. Take the very large pathway to the left right before the hallway ends. Smash the grating to the right of the opening and crouch through. Walk around and climb the red ladder to the left up to the next floor. Climb the tall gray ladder to reach the rooftop. Jump down to the landing pad straight ahead and then take the ramp down on the right side. Answer the radio by walking up to the radio and pressing the action button. The news chopper will tell you to prepare and then call him back. Take this opportunity to stock up on ammo and health. Tip: There might be a couple of gas canisters laying around. Pick them up and place them outside the windows to the left and right of the radio room. Make sure there is a clear view of them if you are inside. Zombies will stream in from all sides, so having explosive canisters there will help out when things get unwieldy. Call the chopper in and head up the stairs to the roof where the mounted machine gun is. The news chopper will say "ETA 15 minutes," but don't worry, it's not actually in real time. It's best to make your stand on the roof since it takes longer for zombies to reach you. However, this makes you more vulnerable if a smoker manages to get a hold of someone and drag them back down to the outside. Be on the lookout for smokers and take them out preemptively if you can. If you get on the mounted machine gun, be aware of your back too. Zombies have the nasty ability to sneak behind you and the AI Survivors won't always be there to help you. As time passes, the news chopper will give you an update on its ETA. Keep at it and you should survive. Tip: There's a lot of room around the rooftops to run away from a Tank should you have to face one. Use the staircase and buildings to keep your distance between the Tank and you can take it down without incurring too much damage. When you hear the chopper arrive, quickly run outside and up the ramp to get on. If you stay too long, The Director will throw multiple Tanks and hordes of infected at you. Congratulations, you have finished the "No Mercy" campaign! Achievement: The "Mercy Killer" achievement will unlock if you played through the entire campaign in one sitting. | ||

| The Drains | 50% | |
| Pick up supplies and go up the stairs to the safe room door. Clear out any zombies in the next room and make your way to the right side. There will be two pipes you can walk through here - north and east. Both will eventually put you at the same destination Going through the north pipe will have you arrive on the bottom floor of the large room. There are tables here where The Director will often leave new weapons, so we prefer this route. You will most likely encounter some zombies here. Watch out for smokers who will grab you from the top floor. Go straight through the opening at the other end of the large circular room. At the top of the ramp there will be a passageway to the right. Before taking it, check the room next to the dead end for any supplies. Once you reach the next area you may see zombies loitering about the muck on the bottom of the large room. Pull out your pistol and pick them off from afar. If the area is clear, drop down and make your way around and up to the floodgate switch. Note: Be on the lookout for any explosives or supplies as you make your way to the switch. Flip the switch and be ready to fight. Enemies will stream in from the bottom entrances. Stay on the second floor and fire down at them. Tip: If you have them one or two well timed pipe bombs can take out the entire zombie horde. Achievement: This is a good place to get your "Pyrotechnician" achievement if you haven't already. Wait for a good number of zombies to stream out before throwing your pipe bomb. It should unlock shortly after. After the battle, make your way across the top of the newly closed floodgates and into the dark tunnels. The path will split here, but again, they both lead to the same destination. Note: Watch out for Boomers here, they can be very deadly if allowed to vomit on you. Keep moving through the next two rooms and you should see a large ladder with a safe room sign next to it. Climb up it and be ready to fend off any infected that may be up here. Go through the door in the back outside. Note: Feel free to ignore the large, warehouse-like room. It's a dead end. Go around the yard until you reach an open area with cars. This is normally the site of a large battle. Use any Molotovs and pipe bombs to clear out groups. Find the safe room symbol straight ahead and smash open the windows. Walk across the bridge and get inside the safe room to end the chapter. | ||

| Stock up and head out the gate. Turn to the right, jump down and head towards the spotlight. Clear zombies along the way. Note: Don't walk straight off from where the gate ends, or else you will find yourself the victim of a scripted movie scene. Keep moving until you reach a mounted machinegun and a radio. Answer the radio, then stock up on any ammo you might need. Tip: You should see a few fuel tanks lying around the area. Pick several up and place them around your position, creating a perimeter. Fire at these when you need to. When you are ready, flip the fuel switch and get ready to fight. Start the fight away the machinegun until you know which direction the Horde is coming from. If they are coming from behind you, kill them using your equipped weapon. Otherwise, get on and have a blast. If a Tank comes ahead of you, quickly get on the machine gun and deal as much damage to it as possible. When it starts to get close, though, get off and run away. Tip: You can shoot down the concrete blocks a Tank may throw at you. Once the airplane is fully fueled, quickly move to the back of the plane. (the plane is to the right of the machine gun) The tail entrance will slowly lower so you can get on. Unfortunately, a giant horde of zombies will stream in towards the plane's rear as well. You will have to hold them off just a little while longer until you can get on. Once every Survivor is on, you will finish the Dead Air campaign! Achievement: The "Dead Baron" achievement will unlock if you played through the entire campaign in one sitting. | ||

| The Crane | 50% | |
| Stock up and head out the door. Clear out any zombies in the garage and crouch by the gate. Zombies should be milling about here, take them out too. Note: You can shoot zombies through the large fence on the left. Go up the big pile of dirt and drop down on the other side of the fence. Jump up the boxes and crates to reach a dangling fire escape ladder. Note: This section is very narrow and has room for only one person. Watch out for friendly fire here. If you see a Boomer, quickly jump back down and take him out from afar, lest he bring the Horde upon you. Enter the building through the bathroom and make your way to the hallway. Go straight down the hall until you reach the end. Feel free to ignore the side rooms, they will contain only zombies. Go up the stairs and through the door on your right. If you are lucky, there will be either weapons or explosives here. Look outside the window and clear out any zombies you may see milling about. Jump out the open window and go inside the fenced off area with the crane. Don't trigger the crane yet though. Tip: There should be a couple of red gas jugs on a box in a corner. You can use these to set traps for the Horde. Pick one up and place it on the ground near where you jumped out the window. Place the other one on the ground to the left of the building up ahead, on where it says "Danger" on the ground. Go pull the crane's lever and quickly jump to the top of the small building near where you dropped the gas jug. You are going to make your stand here. As soon as you see the Horde coming, shoot the gas jugs, creating walls of fire. This will thin out the crowds for you. When the crane has lowered the dumpster with the ladder, climb it and make your way across the rooftops until you reach two open windows on the left. Note: Check the corpses near the red building that you drop down for items. Sometimes The Director leaves some goodies there. Enter the building through either window, they both lead to the same hallway. Go through the entrance of the Merril Law Offices. Walk down the planks to the next office building. Head left and you should see a first aid cabinet. Grab the items in here and also any weapons or ammo that are in the room. Continue on through the door marked "Exit" and down the staircase. You'll see a large room filled with cubicles. If you have to fend off zombies here, jump up onto one of the desks, it will give you a better vantage point. Make your way through the cubicles through another Exit door and down some more stairs. Another floor of cubicles awaits you here. Go through these as well and head down yet another flight of stairs to the ground floor. You'll see two doors marked "Exit" here. The green room straight ahead will take longer to traverse, so just jump out to the street on the left. Note: Watch out for the beige car here. If you set off its alarm, the Horde will come after you. Head towards the Storage store on the left hand side. The safe room is inside to the right | ||

| You start off on the rooftop of an apartment building. Grab either the pump-action shotgun or the submachine gun and a health pack in front of you. It's really personal preference on which one to take, either weapon will serve you well. Head through the door on the center of the roof and down the stairs. Note: You can also jump down the skylight directly behind the weapons cabinet into the apartment, but doing so leads to a greater risk of being surrounded by zombies as soon as you land. Scattered zombies should be in the kitchen area, kill them and make your way through the living room. As you leave the living room, you may be attacked by your first large contingent of infected. Utilize the strategies outlined in the earlier part of the guide to survive. There should be a doorway directly to your left with some stairs leading down. Head down those stairs. Make your way through the hallway, the kitchen, and the living room of this apartment until you reach a large hole in the middle of the floor. You'll want to jump into it. Be prepared to fight some infected. Loop around the similarly laid out apartment, past the crashed jeep and the darkened hallway until you get outside into the alleyway. Head for the burning car and turn left at the corner. You should see a police car and the main street ahead of you. Note: The Director tends to send a lot of zombies at you somewhere along the main road. Follow the street as it curves to the right and left. Note: You should see an orange car in the middle of the road that the game has noted for you. Don't shoot this car as it will set off an alarm, drawing the horde to you. Duck into the subway station and head down the stairs. Achievement: If you really want the "Back 2 Help" achievement, quickly rush ahead by yourself to the safe room before any of your teammates get there. Go inside and go back out. If one of your teammates isn't incapacitated, shoot him yourself until he or she is. Then revive them and go to the safe house together. Make sure the next room is clear, then go through the safe room door. Once everyone is inside, close the door to end the chapter. | ||

| To beat the hoard on dead air, all you have 2 do is hit the gattling gun a bunch of times. after mele-ing it for awhile, jump on it ONCE! if are on it DO NOT press A again. if you do, you're in trouble. jump on the turret ONCE, and it should automatically trampoline you up 2 the wing of the green plane. up there, have someone EXPERIENCED at the glitch alert the hoarde, and they then jump on the plane. on the plane, smokers can still pull you and tanks can still THROW things at you, so watch out. | ||

| Health Pack - You can use this on yourself or a teammate. It will heal 80 percent of a Survivor's health. Health packs are the only way to truly heal a Survivor who is bleeding out after being incapacitated. Survivors who are bleeding out will slowly lose health as time goes by. You can only carry one pack at a time. Note: Normally the maximum time one can be revived from incapacitation is three times. Having a health pack applied resets this number. Pain Pills - Like the health pack, you can only carry one at a time. You can only use it on yourself, although you can give them to a teammate if you so choose. It will temporarily boost your health by 50 percent. You will know you are on pain pills when you see vertical bars on your health meter instead of a solid color. Your health will slowly tick away as time passes. Tip: The best time to use pain pills is right at the start of a battle, so that you can make maximum use of the temporary health. Fuel Tank - These white tanks look like propane tanks you would pick up at the Home Depot. You can use these to set explosive traps for zombies. Shooting them will cause an explosion. Oxygen Tank - These are longer, green, cylindrical tanks. They look like scuba diving air tanks. They will explode after a short delay when shot. Gas Jug - These red jugs can be used similarly to the fuel tanks. Shooting these will cause a wall of flame to erupt, setting zombies on fire. | ||

| Once outside the safe room, you will find yourself in a very open train yard. All sorts of things can happen here, so be prepared to fight. Areas of note include the tall guard tower near the center. The Director likes to place Smokers here - kill them first so they don't pull you up. You can find ammo or items up there sometimes, but if you don't need anything, feel free to ignore it. There will be a small building to the right as you walk straight ahead from the safe room. Duck in here and gather any items you see. Your eventual goal is the two story structure at the far end. Go to the far left side of the building and take the stairs up. Loop back around again and eventually you will be on top of some train cars. Walk across them, over the fence and into the next area. Drop down, turn right, and follow the road down. You should pass a sign that says "Riverside." Past the school bus there is a little guard post hut with a first aid box. Check inside for painkillers or health packs. Continue up the road until you see a house with some cars parked outside. Note: Watch the forest to the left beyond the fence. Smokers will sometimes hide out here. Enter the house and pick up any items or supplies you find. Chances are there will be some zombie ambushes in here as well. Leave through the back door, and you should see an ambulance parked out in the middle of the road. Check inside for any health items before continuing. Look for the safe room symbol to the left. Enter the graveyard and make your way to the house at the end. Tip: 'Search the shed that you see immediately to your left as you enter the yard. If you see any gas canisters or fuel tanks, pick them up and place them near any entrances to the house. Unfortunately there is someone already inside the safe room and he's not very helpful. In fact he will ring his bell, summoning the Horde. This fight will be slightly more difficult, as you will have to deal with Horde coming in from three different angles. If you had set up some fuel tanks, shoot them as soon as you see the zombies stream in. Walls of fire will be created, helping you thin out the zombies. When the attack stops, the safe room door will open, revealing a Boomer. Oops, looks like our friend got his just desserts. Back up away from the room and kill him. Don't worry if you get vomited or exploded on, simply close the door immediately and the chapter will end. | ||
