Mass Effect 3: Leviathan [ Review ]Release Date: 08/28/2012
Price: 800 MSP/$10
From Ashes is a shining example of how not to do DLC. For one, it was on-disc DLC, meaning that it was basically withheld from gamers so that EA could try to get an extra 10 bucks out of consumers for something that they already owned. It was an insult to me as a gamer, added nothing substantial to the game, and was one of the worst pieces of DLC ever produced. Leviathan, on the other hand, is how to do DLC right.
Leviathan takes place before the "point of no return" in the game, meaning that [ ...More ]

Mass Effect 3: From Ashes [ Review ]Release Date: 03/06/2012
Price: 800 MSP/$10
Gamers were outraged when they discovered BioWare and EA was releasing the loathed DLC for Mass Effect 3 on day one. The reason for this is, people tend to feel cheated out of content when developers and publishers are able to release these expansion packs on the very same day that the game comes out. If the content was ready before the game shipped, then why wasn't it just included on the disc? Well, truth be told, Mass Effect 3: From Ashes is already on the disc.
Or at least, the "framework" of From Ashes is already [ ...More ]

Mass Effect 3 [ Review ]Finally, the final game of the trilogy is upon us. Released by EA and Bioware to a lot of fanfare, much is expected from this title. Mass Effect 3, being the last chapter of Shepard's story, seems pretty fit as an ending to this sci-fi drama.
Perhaps the first thing you'll notice is that you get to choose between three modes of gameplay -- Action, Role-playing, and Story. The first one lets you skip dialog choices and just get right to shooting enemies. The Story mode cuts out the gunplay and lets you concentrate more on the interactive cinematic experience. Mass Effect 3 [ Preview ]The last time you played the role of Shepard, the "Savior of the Galaxy", you came back from the dead with the help of Cerberus, given a new ship, assembled a team composed of old and new mates, then went into the ominous Omega Relay to combat the Collectors, who harvest humans in order to create Reapers. You successfully defeated them and basked in the glory, but you have Cerberus turning against you and is now on your tail.

Looking Forward: XCOM, Mass Effect 3, and The Witcher 2XCOM: ENEMY UNKNOWN
When it was announced that the XCOM franchise was being revived, fans of the revered strategy franchise were in hysterics. At first, they were overjoyed at the news of the long-dormant series given new life. But then that joy was replaced by utter despair and disappointment. Instead of making a turn-based strategy game in the vein of the classic games in the franchise, development of the game was handed over to 2K Marin by Take-Two, the developers behind BioShock 2, and it was turned into a first-person shooter. BioShock 2 was a decent game, but compared to the [ ...More ]

EA's Mass Effect 3 E3 2011 PresentationThe video below is directly from the stage at E3 in Los Angeles this week and provided by Electronic Arts (EA). This video might be the reason our own RyCam said the game "blew his mind" in his Day with ME3 article.
This is All Out Galactic War, will the earth fall? Can you as Commander Shepard save it? Will the Reapers win? Is this the sort of experience you want out of your gaming?
Take a look to find out, the video is long but well worth the view if your any kind of Mass Effect fan at all.

My Day With Mass Effect 3 at E3My mind is blown I sit now in the media center trying to piece together what it was I just saw, I was taking notes furiously over the 30 minute demo we were treated to but first how we got there. After waiting in line for hours we were lead into a small room with a 76" tv in the front. It was so crowded I was told if I wanted in I would have to sit on the floor. That was fine.
Note- some of the demo was what was shown at the press conference but for the sake [ ...More ]

E3 2012 Report Card: Nintendo (New Super Mario Bros. and Mass Effect!)Pikmin are all around us
Who is the most important person at Nintendo? Shigeru Miyamoto. Not only is he the mind behind gaming's greatest franchises such as Super Mario and Zelda, but Shigeru Miyamoto is one of the key people responsible saving the industry from the video game crash of 1983. Miyamoto is a bonafide video gaming legend. Starting their show with him was probably the best way to go about it. It got the crowd excited, it got me excited (...), and it got all the Nintendo fans frothing out the mouth, for sure.
The video in question showed Mr. [ ...More ]

Kirby: Mass Attack [ Review ]Since 1992, Nintendo’s Kirby franchise has spanned about twenty games, a staggering number it has to be said. It is one of the longest running series in Nintendo’s history and video games in general. In the latest installment of the series, dubbed Kirby: Mass Attack, the signature Kirby is no more. The developer deviated from tradition to be able to provide you with a feel of the Kirby universe.
