Call of Duty: Black Ops 2...or Call of Duty: Future Warfare?

Ever since Call of Duty 2 launched to widespread critical acclaim as one of the Xbox 360's most revered launch titles, Activision has continued to release a new entry in the series on a yearly basis. Call of Duty 3 launched the following year, developed by Treyarch, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was released the year after that, completely changing the gaming industry in the process. From there, we had Treyarch and Infinity Ward taking turns developing each Call of Duty entry, with World at War coming from Treyarch, and Modern Warfare 2 being Infinity Ward's next release. Call of Duty: Next Gen Wishlist [ Editorial ]

Rumors have leaked that the next Call of Duty game from Activision is going to be breaking away from the tradition of the series. Instead of Modern Warfare 4, the latest rumors say that we will be getting Call of Duty: Ghosts, courtesy of Infinity Ward and whoever else Activision has working on the game. A few details have leaked about the game, but that's not stopping us from compiling a wishlist anyway. According to the rumors, Call of Duty: Ghosts will feature interactive loading screens, allow for more maneuverability such as sliding and dashing, plus peeking around corners and rolling [...More ]

Call of Duty: Black Ops II [ Review ]

By this time, plenty of detractors have gone on about "the sad state of affairs" in the gaming market, especially since the mainstream now has set conventions that big companies are more or less afraid to step out of. This is pretty much the case with modern military FPS games, and the recent releases in this genre have been used as examples of this supposed decline. The franchise that set the trend for the mainstream in the first place now has a new title out, which is one of the most anticipated releases of 2012, and it does enough to [...More ]

Call of Duty: Black Ops II Multiplayer Trailer Analysis

It may have seen better days, but it is undeniable that the multiplayer in Call of Duty is the bread and butter of the franchise. People simply don't buy Call of Duty for the campaigns or even for the extra game modes. In the end, Call of Duty sells for its multiplayer. With only a few months to go before the game hits shelves, Activision has offered its first look at the multiplayer of Black Ops II with a recently released multiplayer trailer. I will dissect the trailer frame by frame, pointing out everything that it reveals, in this comprehensive analysis [...More ]

Which Call of Duty is the best? This is  a question often debated amongst fans. There are plenty of entries in the core Call of Duty series, with multiple developer teams handling the duties. Each Call of Duty has its own gimmick to try to set it apart from the rest of the pack, but which Call of Duty, out of the eight total that have released so far, is the best of them all? 08. Call of Duty Classic Back in the day, the original Call of Duty won the prestigious Game of the Year award from the Academy of Interactive [...More ]

Top 25 Call of Duty Maps

With Black Ops II on the horizon, I've been on a Call of Duty kick. The series has gotten flak in recent years, but that doesn't mean it still isn't one of the most innovative game franchises in the history of gaming. A couple of weeks ago, me, a couple of friends, and my brother, played through all of the different Call of Duty Zombie Maps in an attempt to pick out the top 5. Well, now we've turned our attention to the multiplayer, and we've singled out the Top 25 Call of Duty Multiplayer Maps, based on how well [...More ]

Top 5 Best Call of Duty Zombies Maps

Call of Duty has featured the Zombies Mode since Treyarch introduced it as a bonus game mode in World at War. Since then, the mode has seen a lot of success in popular culture, and in the gaming industry, featuring clones and much more. The mode has become a mainstay for Treyarch, being the focus of their DLC releases and a cornerstone of their Call of Duty games, being touted in Black Ops and returning in Black Ops II. Zombies in Black Ops II will have a campaign as well as other modes to expand the experience. But before we enjoy [...More ]

Top 5 Worst Call of Duty Zombies Maps

Call of Duty has easily become the breakout IP of the seventh generation. It has created a whole new audience for first-person shooters and has completely revolutionized not only the FPS genre, but online multiplayer in general. While Activision's milking of the franchise is looked down upon, the series has done some great things, and I want to recognize the best content that has come from the franchise with a series of editorials. And what better what to kick things off with one about the beloved Zombie mode? Originally known as Nazi Zombies, "Zombies" in Call of Duty has appeared in [...More ]

Welcome to yet another new feature series for Cheat Masters. This is called the Wishlist, and in it, I will detail upcoming games or game systems that don't have a lot of information about them released yet, and make a list of all the features I want to see, and all the ones I'd rather be left on the cutting room floor. On this edition of the Wishlist, we take a look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, a game that is rumored to be revealed on May 1st, and is likely the next core Call of Duty game [...More ]

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 [ Review ]

The Modern Warfare series by Infinity Ward has been established as the premiere FPS experience in the market since it's first release back in 2007, and for good reason. The action-packed single-player, coupled with the engaging and diverse multiplayer, as well as the premise of the game being set in modern times, made this series a perfect fit for today's audiences. With the release of this latest sequel, Modern Warfare 3, the bar has now been raised even higher and it's already taking the gaming market by the throat and slapping it silly. It still follows the standard COD formula, which [...More ]

Modern Warfare 3 - The beginning of the end for Call of Duty?

Every year since 2005, Activision has released an entry in the Call of Duty series. History shows that while this is a great way to milk gamers for all they're worth, it also is a great way to effectively kill a video game franchise. With their primary Call of Duty studio Infinity Ward in shambles and the development of Modern Warfare 3 being handled by three different studios, it seems that Modern Warfare 3 may be the beginning of the end for the series. Will the Call of Duty juggernaught lose its foothold in the market? Well, according to history... In [...More ]

Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army [ Review ]

By this point, the zombie game is perhaps one that has been overdone and tired out. No longer is it the quirky trope that came with fresh ideas as those have now been made use of by developers and publishers, both big and small. The Walking Dead has become a popular television series and even transitioned as a video game quite nicely. Also, if a movie like Warm Bodies comes up, you know that zombies are overstaying their welcome. With that said though, the Sniper Elite series has jumped on this idea. It's rather late, but it turns out to [...More ]

Sniper Elite V2 - Tips for Beginners [ Guide ]

If you're not one of those gamers who grew up owning noobs with the Arctic Warfare Magnum in CounterStrike, then maybe you won't have that good of a time with Sniper Elite V2. Despite that, the game's learning curve is not that steep at all, despite the name. Perhaps you'll even become leet after playing through all the difficulty levels. This guide should help you get started with the game. The biggest difference between those two games is that Sniper Elite V2 is way more realistic. That means certain things like bullet drop and wind deflection affect the ballistics of your [...More ]

Sniper Elite V2 [ Review ]

Sniper Elite V2 is the remake of the first Sniper Elite, which was released back in 2005. While it didn't get mainstream success, it was one of those shooters that was able to build up a fanbase with its unique sniper-focused gameplay that introduced mechanics that brought more realism to sniping, including bullet drop and wind affecting the bullet's trajectory. This was two years before Call of Duty 4 came out with that flashback sniper mission. A lot of things can be said about this game, but we may just cut to the chase and talk about its most attractive feature, [...More ]
