Nintendo E3 2013 Report Card (Super Mario 3D World and Smash Bros.!)Nintendo bummed out their fans when they announced that they were cancelling their plans for a traditional press conference presentation at this year's E3. Sony E3 2013 Report Card (Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III!)E3 2013 has almost wrapped up all of its major press conferences. Microsoft kicked off the day and converted an Xbox One hater with me. From there, Electronic Arts gave a stellar conference that really highlighted their biggest new games, especially the stellar Battlefield 4. Ubisoft revealed more next-generation IP during their conference that followed shortly after EA's.
But the world was truly waiting in eager anticipation for Sony's press conference for a multitude of reasons. Sony had many questions to answer during their press conference. How much is PS4 going to cost? Will PS4 block used games? Will people have [ ...More ]

Ubisoft E3 2013 Report Card (The Division and Assassin's Creed IV!)Ubisoft sort of stole the show from Nintendo last year when they announced Watch Dogs, one of the first games running on next-generation hardware, which really took gamers by surprise and captivated many. Watch Dogs was the surprise hit of E3 2012, and Ubisoft wanted to recreate their success of last year. Unfortunately, they also recreated their weak hosting choices.
Aisha Tyler drove me nuts, sure, but Ubisoft's press conference wasn't all bad! It was definitely the weakest press conference so far, but at the same time, Ubisoft still managed to keep it from being a complete waste of time thanks [ ...More ]

Microsoft E3 2013 Report Card (Halo 5 and Dead Rising 3!)Okay, so...wow. I went in to the Microsoft E3 press conference with a totally negative attitude. For weeks, I have been denouncing the console at every possible opportunity. The used games policy still bugs me, the entire Internet requirement situation is also a big downer. When I geared up to watch the Microsoft E3 2013 press conference with my buddies, I was expected to laugh and jeer with them at Microsoft's blunders.
Boy, is my foot in my mouth now.
I wrote about how the Xbox One was more like Xbox Done. I took shots at Xbox One in my preview for [ ...More ]

Best June ever? How June 2013 kicks the summer droughtEvery summer, gamers gear up for a summer mostly devoid of new releases. It's the perfect opportunity to dig through your backlog and go through games that passed you by over the previous year, but at the same time, it can be kind of depressing. This trend is usually bucked at the end of a console cycle thanks to many developers and publishers wanting to get their games out before the next big consoles release in the fall. This June is especially heavy with major releases. With E3 right around the corner and plenty of games to play to tide [ ...More ]

Telltale and Double Fine - Two big adventure games for 2013 [ Preview ]Adventure gaming was hugely popular in the early 90s, but its popularity waned and interest for the genre became niche. What was once a fairly successful genre was all but completely dead a decade ago, but thanks to innovations in the industry such as digital marketplaces, classic franchises and those in that same adventure game style have seen a resurgence of sorts. Telltale's The Walking Dead series can be credited a lot to this resurgence in popularity, as can other titles such as the Ace Attorney and Professor Layton series on Nintendo DS, with both of those franchises being very [ ...More ]

Surgeon Simulator 2013 (Full Version) [ Review ]When the first iteration of Surgeon Simulator 2013 came out in late January 2013, it was seen as QWOP for doctors. The viral hit had taken the Internet by storm, making it seem unbelievable that such a good game could be made in just a span of a weekend. Bossa Studios, composed mainly of four dudes with a passion for making games, decided to take it further and made it bigger.

SimCity (2013) [ Review ]There is something about the SimCity franchise that has been so enticing and addicting that it can eat away lazy afternoons with a flick of the wrist. Some still play the very first one on the Super Nintendo for laughs and it somehow still retains a good bit of that fun factor. The subsequent games have been quite good, from SimCity 2000, to 3000, to 4. This latest one was perhaps Maxis' most ambitious game yet as they've transitioned the singleplayer experience to online multiplayer.
The Game
As with the previous installments of the series, the new SimCity combines the many good [ ...More ]

Tomb Raider (2013) [ Review ]When the trailer for Tomb Raider first came about, it was met with raised eyebrows and pursed lips from people who have played enough Tomb Raider games to last them a lifetime. Now that Tomb Raider has come out, many who've bought the game are hoping that the whole reboot thing doesn't bite them back in the end. Hopes were realized as the game did fulfill quite a few promises that it made much earlier.
Many of you may be aware that Square Enix [ ...More ]
