LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes [ Preview ]I've had a love/hate relationship with the LEGO games. I found the original LEGO Star Wars a blast, the second one a disappointment, and I thought the Indiana Jones games were just okay. Harry Potter's attempt at a LEGO game bored the hell out of me, and so, it's really been all over the place. Nevertheless, I've played the demo for LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes on the Nintendo 3DS, and I just have to say that I came away impressed and excited to get my hands on this game in the coming weeks.
The demo begins by throwing you [ ...More ]

Company of Heroes 2 (Beta) [ Review ]The first Company of Heroes was such a breath of fresh air in the real time strategy genre, even with the tired old World War II premise. Perhaps the WW2 theme actually helped it as after having endured one WW2 first person shooter after another, being able to control your own troops in the battlefield was what the subgenre needed to stay fresh. The long-awaited sequel has now entered its beta stage, and those lucky enough to get access is treated to more polished gameplay and new features to revitalize the series.
It has been quite a while since the original [ ...More ]

New Super Mario Bros. 2 [ Review ]Mario has been Nintendo’s mascot and trusty cash cow since virtually his introduction. With games and merchandise in the dozens, Nintendo has been milking the Mario franchise for all its worth, and with fan reactions being as it was – and in fact gaining new fans with each release – this approach does not show any signs of slowing down.
Mario and its beloved cast of characters have also been around the block in its several decades of existence, whether it be in racing, playing tennis, or fooling around with each other in a variety of quirky party games. [ ...More ]

Nintendo E3 2013 Report Card (Super Mario 3D World and Smash Bros.!)Nintendo bummed out their fans when they announced that they were cancelling their plans for a traditional press conference presentation at this year's E3. That being said, Nintendo didn't just abandon E3 completely. They decided to host a Nintendo Direct conference instead, hosted by Satoru Iwata, focusing on many upcoming games for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
There was a lot riding on Nintendo's Nintendo Direct conference, but I personally think they dropped the ball. To find out why, check out my score at the bottom of this article. And in the meantime, also check out my complete recap of [ ...More ]

Batman returns - Arkham Origins and Blackgate [ Preview ]Arkham City stands today as the greatest licensed game ever made, and one of my favorite games of all time. I didn't get all the hype surrounding Arkham Asylum, but when I had the chance to play Arkham City, I was completely floored with the brilliantly crafted world, hard-hitting combat system, and perfectly realized characters that all came together to tell one of the greatest Batman stories across any medium.
Rocksteady is the genius development studio behind that game, so you'd think I'd be bummed that these two new Arkham games are being developed by a new developer, but I am [ ...More ]

Super Smash Bros. 4 WishlistSuper Smash Bros. started on the Nintendo 64 and was an instant hit. It was a brilliant move to take some of the most famous and popular Nintendo characters and throw them into a fighting game together. Smash Bros. became a system seller, and would prove this fact when millions of gamers went out and bought a GameCube for the sequel, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and for the third game in the series, Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Nintendo Wii.
We get a new Smash Bros. game every generation, with only one game released for each system. [ ...More ]

E3 2012 Report Card: Nintendo (New Super Mario Bros. and Mass Effect!)Pikmin are all around us
Who is the most important person at Nintendo? Shigeru Miyamoto. Not only is he the mind behind gaming's greatest franchises such as Super Mario and Zelda, but Shigeru Miyamoto is one of the key people responsible saving the industry from the video game crash of 1983. Miyamoto is a bonafide video gaming legend. Starting their show with him was probably the best way to go about it. It got the crowd excited, it got me excited (...), and it got all the Nintendo fans frothing out the mouth, for sure.
The video in question showed Mr. [ ...More ]

Fable Heroes [ Review ]Fable is a series that has been around for a while and has amassed quite a following. It’s already had a couple of sequels, as well as a number of spin-offs. However, Fable Heroes is a different take on the type of gameplay that gamers have been used to in this series, all set in a world that fans have come to enjoy and love.
Fable Heroes takes beloved characters from the series such as Jack of Blades, Gabriel, Garth, Hammer, and many more, and puts them in a hack and slash, beat ‘em up co-op clash, much different from the classic RPG style that Fable fans [ ...More ]

Batman Arkham City Lockdown (iOS) [ Review ]Mobile releases usually come before or around the same time as the major platform releases. In the case of Batman Arkham City Lockdown, it was way after Batman Arkham City's console releases and even a bit later than the PC release. This game is a little prequel to the main game, but it won't really matter if the game is actually good on its own. Besides, it could serve as a cool Holiday gift due to its timing.
The plot is very simple; you are Batman and bad guys have escaped Arkham Asylum, so go round them up and put them [ ...More ]

Super Mario 3D Land [ Review ]This year, the Mario series entered into a phase of its evolution wherein its 2D and 3D worlds were bolted into one gigantic adventure with Super Mario 3D Land on the 3DS. Players now have the chance to transfer from pseudo-3D level interactions to 2D side-scrolling. Although it might not introduce its fanatics to a truly authentic 2D/3D combination, Super Mario 3D Land is a fresh and gripping experience that arrives in fine form.
More players are still at a loss if the marriage is possible, but Nintendo has made it clear and have shown that this clever concept is possible. [ ...More ]

Might & Magic Heroes VI [ Review ]Heroes of Might & Magic is a game franchise that never really seems to go away, having releases in regular intervals. Derived from the Might & Magic series, this spin-off series has become quite a classic in its own right. As Might & Magic is a pretty well-known RPG franchise, Heroes of Might & Magic is a fine example of turn-based strategy. This latest iteration of the series is set to raise the bar higher for the franchise while staying faithful to its origins.
Take note that this is no game for the impatient as it has a pretty slow pace. [ ...More ]

Batman: Arkham City [ Review ]The first game, Batman: Arkham Asylum, drew from Batman fans, both old and new. The combination of seamless narrative, superb voice acting, fluid gameplay, and attention to detail made it a classic. Not long after its release, a sequel has already been planned. A few years later, here is the ambitious follow-up to that game. As a sequel, it's definitely twice what the first was.
The improvements in this game over Batman: Arkham Asylum are tremendous, to say the least. The environments are much more expansive, there's a greater variety of enemies and challenges, and it features many more characters from [ ...More ]

Super Cyclone (iOS) [ Review ]Whenever another twin stick shooter comes to the App Store, customers might either sigh in exasperation or just feel a bit excited since twin stick shooters are always exciting in gameplay. This game called Super Cyclone is another addition to the genre, and it does have a few things that make it a bit unique. You don't just fly around in empty space and shoot at whatever that moves; you storm your enemies in a good sense.
The aim of the game is to defend the stargate from waves of enemy ships until the level is finished. You'll find nests where [ ...More ]

Tiny Heroes (iOS) [ Review ]There are plenty of tower defense games nowadays, which just says that it's an established game genre now. While a new one isn't as exciting as it used to be, there's still place for those that have something extra to the table. This game by Simutronics called Tiny Heroes seems to be a derivative of a derivative at first, but shows later on that it's not in a bad way at all.
In this game, the action takes place in dungeons. You are the dungeon master and your goal is to keep those pesky heroes away from your treasure for as [ ...More ]

Captain America: Super Soldier [ Review ]I'll be honest; I've been on kind of a comic book kick lately. With multi-million dollar blockbusters based on superhero franchises released every summer, breaking records at the box office in the process, it seems that I'm not alone in that regard. Films like X-Men and Spider-Man popularized the sudden resurgence of comic books being very prevalent and relevant in today's pop culture, and films like Iron Man and The Dark Knight have only solidified the legacy of America's favorite heroes on the silver screen. And with every superhero film, there needs to be a companion game, so says Sega.

Marvel is the master of the superhero movie. The genre was considered long-dead
after a multitude of flops in the 90s, but with the highly successful films
like X-Men and Spider-Man, Marvel managed to make superheroes relevant again in
today's film industry. They are currently planning a massive Avengers film, and
as a result, they have started building the team by giving them their own
films so the audience can become acquainted with the characters. Iron Man,
Thor, and The Incredible Hulk have all made it to the big screen. Captain
America is the latest Marvel hero [ ...More ]

Mario Super Sluggers: The Basics [ Guide ]In Mario Super Sluggers, you can utilize four basic pitches. It is essential for a player to have more than one type of pitch to be unpredictable against the opponent. It starts with the Normal Pitch wherein the ball is thrown quickly without charging. In the Charge Pitch, you have to first pull back before throwing the ball when the two circles overlap. The third option is the Star Pitch, which is done by holding A+B as you are pitching, while the Changeup can be performed by holding A whilst pitching.
You must learn to employ deception by conditioning your opponent [ ...More ]
