Black Ops II: Uprising [ Review ]
Activision has recently released a brand new expansion for Black Ops II: Uprising. The DLC features four new multiplayer maps and a new zombie map called Mob of the Dead. Coming off the heels of the Revolution DLC pack, Uprising is simply not the same bang for your buck.
Unless you purchased the Season Pass, Uprising will cost 1200 MSP, or $15 if you buy it on PS3 or PC next month. That's the same asking price for the previous DLC expansion, which featured four multiplayer maps, a new Zombie map, a new Zombie mode, and a new gun as well. [...More

Black Ops II - Revolution [ Review ]
Treyarch and Activision have four different DLC packs on the way for Black Ops II. The first one was just recently released, over two months after the launch of the core game. Revolution promises a genesis for Black Ops II and Call of Duty DLC. Do they deliver on that promise?
To be fair, Revolution does provide a lot of new content in this DLC offering that was never available in previous DLC packs for Call of Duty. The previous expansions in the first Black Ops typically added four new multiplayer maps plus a new Zombies map. The final DLC release [...More
Black Ops II - Revolution [ Preview ]
On January 29th, Treyarch and Activision are set to release the first DLC expansion for the blockbuster first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The expansion is called "Revolution"; an apt title, as this expansion pack provides the most bang for your buck in the history of Call of Duty DLC releases, and truly is a "revolution" for the usually greedy Activision business model.
For the first time ever, a Call of Duty game is getting a new multiplayer weapon through DLC. The weapon is called the Peacekeeper SMG. This machinegun will be available to in the multiplayer portion [...More
Black Knight Sword [ Review ]
Goichi Suda, better known as the Japanese game designer Suda 51, has become known as that guy who comes up with those quirky games that combines action-packed gameplay with weird premises and tons of pop culture references stuffed into them. Black Knight Sword may or may not be the same as the previous Suda51 offerings, depending on which detail you decide to focus on.
Riding on Suda 51's reputation doesn't necessarily make for a good game, although it does make for quite an aesthetic experience. Perhaps what separates Black Knight Sword from his other creations is that it's a sidescrolling action [...More
Call of Duty: Black Ops II [ Review ]
By this time, plenty of detractors have gone on about "the sad state of affairs" in the gaming market, especially since the mainstream now has set conventions that big companies are more or less afraid to step out of. This is pretty much the case with modern military FPS games, and the recent releases in this genre have been used as examples of this supposed decline. The franchise that set the trend for the mainstream in the first place now has a new title out, which is one of the most anticipated releases of 2012, and it does enough to [...More

Black Mesa (First Release) [ Review ]
Black Mesa is a total conversion modification for the Source engine that faithfully recreates and even improves upon one of the most influential games of all time, Valve's breakout title Half-life.
Black Mesa is a total conversion mod of the original Half-Life for the Source engine. Being one of the most influential games of all time, Half-Life combined solid first-person shooter gameplay with perhaps one of the best singleplayer experiences to have ever been made, featuring a deep storyline and a narrative that told it without any need for cutscenes or gimmicks. When Half-Life Source was released, it didn't satisfy fans [...More
Black Ops II on Wii U
Nintendo fans were looking forward to September 13th for the longest time, waiting for all the concrete information about Wii U to finally be unveiled. Finally, September 13th came and I think it's safe to say that most fans walked away happy. Localization for Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate was announced, Bayonetta 2 was announced as a Wii U exclusive, and of course, Activision officially revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops II is coming to Wii U.
Black Ops II is coming to Wii U with all of the content intact from the other versions of the game. [...More
Black Mesa to be Released, Finally [ News ]
After around seven to eight long years since the start of the project, the full conversion project for the original Half-Life known simply as Black Mesa is finally coming out with their first release. After much doubt and speculation, the development team has finally announced their first release on September 14, 2012.
The full Half-Life conversion project formerly known as Black Mesa Source started as a response to Valve's release of Half-Life Source in 2004, which was a port of the hit first person shooter title to the Source engine. It was met with some criticism as it didn't seem like [...More
Zombies in Nuketown! - Black Ops II
If a recent image posted by the official Call of Duty twitter account is any indication, it looks like zombies may be invading Nuketown! Posted on August 27th, the image shows the unmistakable "Welcome to Nuketown!" sign, except covered in blood smears, bloody hand prints, and the word "ZOMBIES" written in, you guessed it, even more blood!
You can check out the image for yourself right here:
There hasn't been any official word from Activision just yet, but the image came from the official Call of Duty Twitter account, so there is no reason to [...More

Capcom and Electronic Arts made up the early morning portion of Gamescom, but when Sony took the stage, they stole the entire show. Call of Duty: Black Ops II Multiplayer Trailer Analysis
It may have seen better days, but it is undeniable that the multiplayer in Call of Duty is the bread and butter of the franchise. People simply don't buy Call of Duty for the campaigns or even for the extra game modes. In the end, Call of Duty sells for its multiplayer. With only a few months to go before the game hits shelves, Activision has offered its first look at the multiplayer of Black Ops II with a recently released multiplayer trailer.
I will dissect the trailer frame by frame, pointing out everything that it reveals, in this comprehensive analysis [...More

E3 2012 Report Card: Microsoft (Halo 4 and Splinter Cell: Black List!)
And so it begins...
Microsoft kicked off their E3 press conference with a cold open. A live-action film sequence saw a large UNSC ship crashing into a planet, with the people inside freaking out, as well they should. This bled into footage of Halo 4. This gameplay footage revealed that Halo 4 is a lot like Reach in terms of graphics, but it revealed a few new details about the game.
For one, Halo 4 features brand new enemies. Yes, we knew this before, but unless you checked out the leaked photos of Halo 4 action figures, you didn't know what these [...More
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Wishlist
Welcome to yet another new feature series for Cheat Masters. This is called the Wishlist, and in it, I will detail upcoming games or game systems that don't have a lot of information about them released yet, and make a list of all the features I want to see, and all the ones I'd rather be left on the cutting room floor. On this edition of the Wishlist, we take a look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, a game that is rumored to be revealed on May 1st, and is likely the next core Call of Duty game [...More
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2...or Call of Duty: Future Warfare?
Ever since Call of Duty 2 launched to widespread critical acclaim as one of the Xbox 360's most revered launch titles, Activision has continued to release a new entry in the series on a yearly basis. Call of Duty 3 launched the following year, developed by Treyarch, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was released the year after that, completely changing the gaming industry in the process. From there, we had Treyarch and Infinity Ward taking turns developing each Call of Duty entry, with World at War coming from Treyarch, and Modern Warfare 2 being Infinity Ward's next release.
Deep Black: Reloaded [ Review ]
Ah, the water level. Ever since they were encountered in Super Mario Bros., the water level has been loathed by gamers everywhere. Almost always lacking innovation and filled with frustrating moments, the water level has been like a plague in the industry. From the hair-tearing madness caused by the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time to throwing your controller against the wall when Lara Croft drowned or when you weren't able to get Sonic to one of those oxygen bubbles fast enough. Yes, the water level has been one of the most infamous afflictions in video game history. [...More

Pirates of Black Cove [ Review ]
Pirates are pretty cool, having been depicted liberally in media. From their allegedly colorful method of speech to their apparent love for hard spirits and treasure, it's quite obvious that this theme would be perfect for a game. There have been such games in the past, some become quite influential in their own right. Nitro Games, which seems to have an affinity for ships in open waters, came up with this game that has been previewed in a past article here in CheatMasters.
While the demo showed a lot of the gameplay mechanics, it didn't have much on the various characters [...More
