The first Suikoden for the Nintendo DS, Tierkreis begins after the final fight of the 108 Stars, as the Suikoden heroes are nearly defeated by a powerful foe. Only four remain when the battle ends. You play as a young boy from the border village of Shitoro. As a member of a peacekeeping group, it's your job to protect the village from bandits and monsters. Your adventure begins as you and your fellow peacekeepers head out on a monster expedition. While exploring the mountains near your village, you come upon a strange light, which marks the start of the story.
