You can play the main story as Wesker. Here's how to do it....

1. Unlock Wesker in the Mercenaries mini game
2. Select him
3. When in the stage selection screen, press cancel until the title screen.
4. Select new game(any costume)
5. Here you go, Wesker in main story!

However there are some restriction to avoid the game crashed when you're playing.

1. Wesker cannot use weapons other than grenades, 9mm handgun, Killer 7 and Semi-auto rifle.
2. You can upgrade the weapons and cases. But cannot purchase other weapon. Even you're trying to scroll the other weapons in the list the game will also crashed.
3. As stated in 2. Therefore you cannot purchase semi-auto rifle and Killer 7. You must use trainer to enable access in these weapons.
4. The only melee attack available is the Chikyo Chagi. The thrust punch will end up with some earthquake at the gameplay screen and inflict no damage to the enemies. This happens because of the invalid animation(send enemies fly away)
5.Don't pick up any free weapons on the way(e.g. the shotgun & BB). However, you can pick the ammo and sell it to merchant.

Is it worth to play as Wesker in main story? Well, it's up to you...

as you enter the sewer you will hear the insect keep your gun ready the hole in the wall is safe at the end of the passsage is an invisible insects.you will know its dead when it lies on its back kicking. around the corner is a lader before proceding take a good look what lies benieth kill the insect from the top. procede across the pool type structure and enter the door. look up there is a type of pipe in the cieling keeping a close eye on it move foward slowly at a certain mark a insect will appear kill it carefull another follows behind it. around the corner and through the cells is a door go in activate the pump. proceed outside the door there sould be a insect from where you passed after you killed it go to where you could see the pump through the window go down that lader through the door straight ahead is and item proceed to it running don't pick it up turn kill the insect! that should be the end of these suckers.

If you get the texture patch v1.0.0 or v.1.1.0, go into mercenary mode, select Wesker, go back to the main menu, then start a new game with any costume on any difficulty. Yay, you now look like Wesker! However, you can't use thrust punch and you have to wait until you get into the village to use the kicking your enemie's head to the ground move, also if you have any item in your inventory that Wesker can't have in mercenary mode (mostly just the Killer7, sniper rifle, pistol, grenade, or healing items) the game will crash if you go into the inventory or talk to the merchant.
