First off you're going to need a boost then when the blue shell is over you, you have very little time to react because there is a brief moment where the shell goes up right before it comes down on you. during that brief moment press "B" (using the boost). in doing this you get ahead of it before it comes down saving you 5 seconds and a possible big place difference.

If you were a light weight like baby mario, baby luigi,(ect) you were more likely to be push off to the sides. If you ever play a grand prix or vs more or even battle mode I recommend to be a large weight or middle wieght so you don't get pushes off too hard!If you were a light weight on a level like rainbow road(which is my fave) and a large wieght drives up past you try t stay to the other side or you on the huge drop on rainbow road you be pushed sooo hard

Slightly after start, you will see at your left (50cc, 100cc or 150cc only) a brige. At this left, they're a couple of bouncy mushrooms. But you will need a golden mushroom or a set of triple mushroom. I don't use it oftenly because I don't have a lot of mushroom. But it's very helpful. :D

When you have the electric cloud, you can realize that your kart accelerate more. So what I do is I exceed a couple of players and try to force them to bump in me. Sometimes it helps, sometimes you wont pass the electric cloud. So try it and let me know if it helps. Well, it helps for me! :D

You will need a mushroom, this is an ultra shortcut on mushroom gorge neer the brig the 1st turn the last red mushroom you need a speed mushroom also, so you jump off the last mushroom on to the wall pull the nunchuck down to go up and pull the nunchuck up to go down and you hold down 'till you get forced off and then keep going to the finish line and that will be your second lap and keep doing it untill you finish (NOTE: you will need alot of practice and hard work to do the ultra shortcut so try hard:)

There are actaully TWO shortcuts at delfino sqaure. One, as most people know, is near the two crates. It's a muddy road so you need a mushroom to call it a good shortcut.
The second shortcut is the road (Let's call it road 1)BEFORE the road with the two crates. Stay on the left side of road 1 (right in mirror mode). You will see an opening between the wall and the wooden fence. Enter the opening and you will see a dock far ahead. The sea seperates it from where you are so you will need a mushroom. Face the dock use the mushroom just at the edge. It takes a lot of practice to get it right.

When you start, don't use the boost... start slow and before the bridge, go to the left and there will be a couple of red mushrooms. use those mushrooms to get to the bridge. you will be a couple of seconds ahead of everybody behind. { hint, don't use speed boost mushrooms or you will fall}

More than one person can be the same character.
First, make P1 choose the character you both want to be. Then unselect the character and move off of it. Move P2 over, and select the character. Go back one screen, then go into the character select again. You should both be on the same character. Both of you select the character. Do whatever you want from there on.

Note: In the character select screen and options, whenever one of you does an animation, both of you will. Also, if P2 chooses a different kind of vehicle than P1, P1 will look strange. Don't worry, this won't actually happen in the game.

I haven't tested this with P3 or P4 yet, but in theory, it should work.

Red shells almost always hit unless you have a shell/bananna, but there is another way. red shells are like heat seeking missles if you cut a sudden curve around the inside of a turn it will hit the wall because it doesn't have time to change it's course. (do not try this on an area like grass unless you have a kart with good offroad because if you cut through grass it will either hit you and slow you down more having to get out off the offroad area, or you will waste more time getting out of the offroad part than it would if you got hit by a shell. off course there is one more way than that to but it's not as accurate. like on a jump the shell might go under you. (not recomended because only works if the red shell is VERRY CLOSE to you when you jump.)

POW Block Immunity
When you see the POW block on your screen and its about to hit you, just do the function you would normally use for a trick to create a shockwave for youself to become immune to the spin out the POW block creates (Control panel on GCN controller, Shaking Wii wheel, etc.). This can be done on both bikes and carts. Even though you don't loose speed or spin out, you still will loose the items you were carrying.

Ok to get a 1 star rank do the following:

-Try to limit yourself to at least 3-4 items or 2-3(and try not to rely on items to get you to 1st place you could get an item but not use it until you are 100% sure you need it and by that I mean leave it in the box thing at the top right corner)

-Try to get First during the entire cup (getting Second one time is ok)

-Try not to fall off 1-2 times would be acceptable

-Do as many tricks,wheelies, POW block dodges(I think flipping the wii remote up as if you were trying to do a wheelie works with karts too because I did that a few times with a kart on flat ground and dodged it) etc. as possible.(Also try to hold your drifts for as long as possible too)

-Try not to bump into walls and don't go off-road unless you have a mushroom that will let you take an off-road shortcut.

-Someone here said getting first while hit with alot of blue shells helps too "as it shows you have resistance"

-Try to stay First for the entire race.

-Try to finish as fast as possible.

-Try to get 53 points.

Umm I guess that's it for a 1 Star rank.


To get a 2 star rank you have to do the following:

-Try to stay in First place for the entire cup placing second once is ok.

-Try to limit yourself to 1-2 items and don't rely on them too much to get you to first place.

-Try to stay on the road at all times unless you have a mushroom to take you through an offroad shortcut.

-Don't bump into walls or obstacles.(I don't know about characters but I think that affects your rank or not)

-Try not to fall (falling 1 time is acceptable)

-Try to do even more tricks,wheelies,POW block dodges,drifts,etc. than as many as you did to get one star(again try to hold your drifts as long as possible and try dodging red shells without items as that may harm your rank so instead when a turn is coming and you are close to it but the red shell warning is there the try to sharp turn that turn causing the red shell to crash in the wall just try to stay on the road and not bumping into stuff or walls)

-Finish as fast as possible

-Try to lead the entire race.

-The blue shell thing works too according to that guy.

-Try to get 55 points or more.

Umm I think I got it all for 2 stars.


Now to get three stars you must do ALL of the above requirements:

-You MUST finish in first place all of the time and get 60 points in total.

-You may only get 1 or no items.

- You MAY NOT fall off of the track.

- You must do even more tricks,wheelies,drifts,POW block dodges,etc.

-You cannot bump into walls or obstacles maybe 1 or 2 times is ok( I still dont know about bumping into characters)

-You must try to get as far away from your opponents as possible and finish even faster.

-You must lead the entire race (or at least a huge most of it but you have to finish first)

-No going off-road unless you have a mushroom to take you through an off-road shortcut.

-Yeah the blue shell thing may work too.

Umm and I guess that's it for 3 stars.

1.the first short cut is at the start after the first corner where that bridge is (if you got a mushroom) you go across the dirt and end up back on the track
2.the second shortcut is at the end after the final jump (with mushroom)go through the dirt and finish up at the finish line.
