When you start your scenario or customized world look across the top of the screen to find a column called "Cheats". To activate the cheats you click "Toggle Cheat Mode". After that you can change terrain type, edit technoligies from yours and other civilisations, create units, Get gold and change your player to the one the computer has made! These are the cheats I have listed but there are many more.
