A1: Press it before he gets close to the enemy and shoot the enemies closest to him then click off hold and onto follow then back again so he will stay. then kill the rest of the proximity enemies

A1: I don't know about the mouse, but you can go to options and make your keyboard control the scope(ie.mine is z and v) once pressed it will activate scope
