To defeat Bowser, have your Items stocked with Thunder Rage and Shooting Star ahead of time because hitting him from the air with these two weapons is the only way to defeat him.

Hit the one that is closest to the exit/entrance you just came out of ten times. You will know if it the right green and blue striped pole by two things 1. It is tiny(short and skinny). 2. It will move down when you hit it, then pop back up.
