Use what I do-- Tails with the high booster(that red board) and get used to that-- I'm soooooo good at that! The first lv. my record: 1:49:33!!!
You have 2 be tails with the destroyer and fly threw the rings and hit stuff to get speed:)

Chose an normal race free race chose metal city and sonic with blue star
To unlock jets mission yow have to beat storm`s and wave`s mission you get jets mission.To unlock the last 5 characters you play for 50 hours and you will unlock 2 characters also beat jets waves and storms missions to unlock the last 3.
To get jets missions, you have to finish storm and waves missions. (if you get a gold elblem on all storm wave AND jets missons you get super sonic). So thats how you get 1. To get e10000g you have to play the game for 15 hrs. To get e10000r you have to play the game for 50hrs. To get the other 3 , you have to win first place on all the races in babylon and hero world grand prixs

You should try to get more then 20 gold emblems on storm's missions

To get the last level you have to get a gold emblem

You go to normal race, then go to world grand prix and come first on every course in the heroes cup and then you can go to babylon cup come first on every course to get another course.

Just grind it like any other type of gear that can grind
If you mean grind rails then use speed based character like sonic, shadow, or jet
