Mine just started doing that too! I'm at the part where I have to get my 5 mechanical points and get the alfred the robot out of the penthouse. I am so mad because I worked so hard on it with a lot of patience! I've googled around and it seems a lot of other people are experiencing the same thing with no answer/solution to it. I guess this is the end of the game for me, unfortunately, considering my interest for this game has built a lot of momentum since I first started playing it.
This also happened to me, it appears to be a fairly common thing. It's when a game file corrupts causing it not to function correctly. This happened on my main profile when I had completely finished the game, had the maximum amount of money, fuel rods and gourds.

Go to town hall and get a permit to build the secret lab from the guy at the desk
Go into the basement then turn into the room with the science place and go to the crates they will swing of the floor and reveal a hole that you must jump in and it will lead to the secret lab!

The ghost will sometimes help when you're trying to calm dowm/cheer up/restrain someone, but only if he's nearby.
If you need help with a type of person mood it will slowly calm it down.

so you go to Jebediah S. Jerky he tells you about how he helped the mayour out of prison with the Brad Iron so you go to the jail and on the the desk in front of the gut is his keys there is the Brand Iron so go back to the mummy guy again and he tells you to go to the Bova Shrine and smash the big statue well go up to the statue and you will know what to do!
3.)You made a tiny mustake buying the rat cave cause Tristan Legand gives it to you later anyway go to the freeze is oposite the Bova Shrine beside it is a bunch of lockers run into them and you found the Rat Cave!

The Mobile phone is usually in the desert at the back, this is also where all other objects that go missing go. Sometimes they go in with the cows.
Also if you go around to the left of the hotel ( if your facing the front) they can be there too

I was searching for Luthor L. Bigbucks' phone and it was down the left side of the hotel - it was raining at the time so it was really hard to find!

The secret lab is a place where you can preform alien autopsy's after you find mummified aliens in the desert but you need to buy it first
1) you have to complete some missions for frankie fussile 1 of them he says that he read in a guide that strangetowns desert has valuble items in or somthing like that , them go to the shop and you can buy it

Okay 1) mission for frankie to get copper or whatever it was in the dessert buy it at the store and 2) squirt the fire out.
Unfornately this part sucks, cus you have to wait for them to spawn at certain location, time, and day. Check the walkthroughs for it, and I think it's like 2 mech skill a day, none on sunday. hope that helped :)
You can try to find the places on internet, and then time travell to the places...
Find a mech skill point, save, turn your ds off, forward your ds' date exactly 1 week and then go back on the game. there should be a new one in the same place. this is an easy way of getting the needed points :3

Defeat the robots 3x firstly get prepared for it because they zap you then you have finished the game then you climb up on the roof and you do somthing really weird like a superhero! :D

When she says she wants "Rotting Eggplant" lipstick you have to but that from the store- etc. And you defeat her when you do all the things she asks. And in the end you have to go talk to Momma Hogg and then Jeb Jerky and ask them where the branding iron is they will tell you that its with the jailer go to the jailhouse and get it then go to the Bovine Shrine and the big fat guy statue if you go up to it it will have an option that says "brand" do that and then he will break and then she leaves and says she wont pay but leaves her wallet behind with $3500 or $2500 cant remember which

You gotta build her the Bovine Shrine. Talk to her. Then talk to her while she's in the shrine. She either asks for lipstick or the Mystic cowbell, I cant remember. Lipstick you get at the store, cowbell you get off one of the cows. She'll yell at you for some reason. Then you get the branding iron off the sheriff's desk and brand the Bovine Budda or whatever. Listen all you have to do is vacume but when you vacume make sure you pick up the little mice looking things and collect them like you were collecting things for money through the vacume hope this helps and just remember to keep doing this till a little pop up say you got rid of the mice or something like that. ps if you didnt now the mice appear in the durt mound on the floor of your hotel.

The goons are in many places but they don't always appear. If and when there is a goon Concierge will call you. If he calls you, look in the places where people (or as the case may be things) such as Jimmy "The" Neck, aliens, or robots are.

Okay I do know on common place (they are chickens!) in the auditorium whatever it is called.
They are basic copies of jimmy "the neck" I guess the maker was too lazy to put other goons. they appear most places too.
No, the game is finished once you defeat Alfred the Robot. You should know when the game is finished when credits start rolling in.
The game is not finished fully, you still need to collect skill points, plates and help Johnny Smith return home.
