The shed was meant for your horses home but the creators decided to put it with all the other animals. So you can not get in there. Why they kept it in the game, I have no clue. :)

A-4, it is because possibly Nintendo was so focused on releasing the game, and selling it, that they forgot to take the shed out. There are other sheds in the game that you can't open, too. One is by Kassy and Patrick's house, the other is by Lumina's Villa. -Answer by:Horselvr565

I do know that in the GBA version, friends of mineral town, there is a small shed identical to that one that the horse is kept in. My guess is that they didn't forget to take it out, but left it in for a possible reference to other games or just a good old fashioned easter egg.
