Here's a few options:
1. Try removing the wall and all objects around the sims and pet.
If not,
2.Move all your objects into your family inventory, move out of the house and then move back in. Annoying yes, but it works.
Objects and walls may get in the way of your pet when you're training, to try and avoid this, train your pet either in town square or in a big backyard (front yard too)
