Go to Contracts, highlight the player, and then press x to select them. If they are on their last year of contract you can either negotiate a new one or release them. If they have one or more additional years left you can release them to free agency.
You can fight by having one of your players who is susceptible to fighting (high toughness and aggression rating) and pressing down on the keypad. If they have a fighter on the ice you will challenge them and it then depends on their response. If you get challenged to fight pressing down on the keypad will accept their challenge. If you initiate the challenge too often you may get an instigator penalty so be careful.

It depends on what manager role you picked at the beginning. But, basically you need to take you "trust meter" to the next level to be able to get another level of stars. You can increase your "trust meter" by winning games.

You cant your season always starts with the default roster if you start a season it saves the roster with the trades you have already made so if your create a character is only in the quick play options of the game (ie the team you placed him or free agents)or if you start a new season
