The campers need a compass (found in their tent) and a treasure map (you get it from the Treasure Hunter on the Goo Lagoon Beach after you give him the battery that you received from the reporter at the Convention Center when you gave HIM the pearl that you received from the giant clam in Jellyfish Fields). Once they have both of these items then they find a big treasure chest. The sock is in the chest.
