Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly
A1:

You Can't. It's why it says that, you just have to run from him for now! The Kusabi, i'm guessing? The rope man? You Can't hurt him just yet. For now RUN FOR THE HILLS. -Answer by:ObscureGamer

How do I get rid of the Kusabi thing in Chapter 3? Other than running. Where do I run?
A1:

Well, there's no way to kill him until the Final Battle. So, for now, you have to run from him. As for where, (im assuming your in the Grand Hall) you should run to the room behind the paper screens to the garden area. -Answer by:ObscureGamer

When you first encounter it, you can't, so run.
At the boss fight at the end of the game, the Kusabi is immune to the camera, only giving you zero shots/fatal frames when it is preparing an attack. Zero shots come when it slowly raises its arm, fatal frames come when it paces towards you raising its arm.
The Kusabi also constantly regenerates the damage you deal it, so the best tactic is to use the special lenses (like zero or blast) to deal a lot of damage, then take normal shots to both keep it from healing completely and to charge up your lens again.
Also save type zero film for the end fight, if you run out use type 90, if you run out of that use type 61. Try not to miss shots as this will likely lead to the Kusabi healing completely. If you do miss shots it will swipe at you twice, move back (in camera mode) to avoid its attacks. The best place to fight is in the centre of the room (where you will have seen two twin ghosts), you cannot in fact leave the room as it will block your escape. The Kusabi is always teleporting to different parts of the room to close in on you, you can either track it in camera mode or put the camera down and turn the character to face it.
