Use practice mode. Start on the slowest and do the parts proceeding the part you are bad at AND the part after it. Once you figure you are doing better, move up to the next fastest speed. Make sure to use Hammer-Ons and Pull-Offs.

This one was hard for me too, you need to practise the parts in the beginning hammeron pillof section, and make sure you get all the starpower notes the first 2 times it comes up, then you can use the power quick and limp through the song lol
If you see notes without an outer line all you have to do is slide your fingers up and down the guitar
Try using the Hyperspeed cheat, for me that makes it easier to play tough songs.
Wow... this is exacly why I came on this site, i'm stuck too. I'm about to try and play it on hyperspeed for a while and then it will seem slower.

PAL is the European version. This holds true for Tv's, DVD's, camcorders, etc. Anything with PAL is European (conversely, anything NTSC is American)
Cut out some skateboard griptape, and glue it to the strum bar, it gives you traction.
For certain notes, you don't need to strum all of them. If there's a string of different notes coming up, you can strum just the first one and fret the rest. That only works, though, on some notes: if you look at the white thingamabob on top, some of them will have a ring around them. The ones without the ring you don't have to strum. For the rest, though, like on Misrlou (sp?), you just have to go up and down really fast. =)
Like in hangar18 the begining.... I just strum up and down and I get it perfect every time
I use my middle finger and thumb and strum up and down, and I got through expert fine. Misirlou is good practice.
Theres alot of hammer-ons and pull-offs they are simple to learn try the tutorial it will teach you how to use them
My preference is to play it like a bass guitar with index and middle finger. Always always IMIMIMIMIM. I taped a cut piece of straw just above the pick guard for a thumb rest. I just picked up GH 80's a week ago, started on expert and I've got two songs left to finish expert. Of course, GH 80's is easier.
If you come up to a note and the center of the next note is glowing you can do a hammeron or pulloff
Put your index finger on the bottom, and your thumb on top. That's a comfortable position for me, and most people I've seen play GH2.
Move the strum bar up and down(that means to alt strum) really fast if the notes are close together. If that doesnt work just try to strum really fast.

Ok. im stuck on medium mode because I cant hit the orange note without messing up all the other notes ahead of it(its hard to get my fingers in placement for the green after hitting the orange)got any helpful tips?

You just practice. it's that simple. I'm 16, got the game two weeks ago, and have beaten Hard already. don't take the fun out of the game, just get better and feel good about yourself :)
Say that you are playing and a red note appears then an orange one after that.... move your first finger to the red instead of your second finger and then shift all of your fingers down one so that you are ready for the upcoming orage one!

I know its hard but YOU HAVE TO USE YOUR PINKY IF YOU WANT TO BEAT THE GAME OR TO PLAY FAST IN RAL LIFE. trust me I play guitar in a band and I know how hard it was for me to learn to use my pinky but TRUST ME USING YOUR PINKY IS THE KEY. Yeah man use your pinky ,... but you use your pinky on medium, so you should be able just to shift your fingers down, what I did was I just played medium until I knew I was up for a chalenge (when I kepts geting 5 stars and 98 %) good luck bud
Study songs you absolutely can't pass. for these songs, just keep your fingers starting on red. you can press green notes with the edge of your pointer, easily.
If your on medium and theres orange then your on hard or expert because medium on uses the green,red,yellow and blue!
How is it that you are having problems with the orange button on medium when the orange button isnt introduced until hard?
Lol, to the responses above me. on some songs there r orange notes on medium, as well as power chords. these r mainly to bonus songs, but I think there might be one song in which theres an orange note on medium. anywa,s they key is to learn how to put ur pointer finger on red, otherwise u will [bold]never[/bold] beat the game

It depends on the song really, but I find it's easier to keep your 4 fingers on the higher notes, and stretch your index to cover both the red and the green button.
Use the normal hand movement but have a friend or family hold the orange when needed. I hope you have at least friends.
No matter what.its better to play with ur middle finger on the yellow.

Put your index finger on the red button middle finger on the yellow button etc. put a rubber band on the green button so u dont have to stretch ur finger over to it u just have to strum when there is a green note.
Put your index fingers on the red button. Then if you have a G-Y chord stretch your index finger to the green while keeping your middle finger on yellow. Of course you can't do this for a G-R chord, but if you absolutely must move your hand down, try to get it back asap
I actually keep my "normal stance" and I just switch up and use my pinkie lol

My way is when yuo see an orange note slide all your fingers down 1 fret then when you see a green go back up.... after you do it for a while it gets easy

I missed a few notes with gaps and he missed a couple of more but at the same time so he could keep his x4 multiplier most of the time. I got up to like x3 and then I missed one over and over again. Once again, He got 5 stars, I got 4. I had more %, he had more score. Since all songs have different ammount of score to achieve, there's no "score for 5 stars".

Its on number three or a hack witch I saw on youtube have a file for guitar hero 2 put it in your computer there is a pop up click on it and put it on tell your friend from cheat helper not realy a helper
Alright dudes master of masters! ok really now it took me 2 hours to beat Jordan, its all about you getting into the song and just be with the beat, before you even think about trying it go to Traning and practice solo A B and C first keep practing until you can accomplish at least 73% after that do the other half and then the whole solo but try it on slower then slow then full speed. thats all I can say now I can do most of the time jordan 99 to 100% percent just go to youtube.com and check for five star on expert song Jordan! peace Rock on dudes
You need to put it on your game as a custom song. go to youtube and type how to put a custom song on guitar hero 2, but first you have to find the song and learn how to put it on. or go to scorehero.com it tell you how to put song on there. just to want you thogh you need to download about 3-7 thing on your computer in order to put a coustom song on your game, but score hero tell you every thing you need to download there. oh yeah I forgot to tell you, you need to burn a copy of guitar hero2 for this to work. I hoped I halped you in any way

There is a cheat code on pretty much all major cheat sites. The code unlocks EVERYTHING. The only down side is, saving is disabled. The whole point of the code is for u to play the game w/ friends.

When you hammer on and off you can just strum the first note and play the other two without touchung the strum bar.
GH1 and 2 Pull-off and Hammer-on aren't always reliable. But on GH3 it's almost im possible to miss them. If you have GH3 it'll make good practice.

I took me forever to get it but you simply just have to keep working with it and sooner or later its almost the same and medium. just try it in practice mode a few times so the slowest than slower than slow then try full speed it should get alittle bit easier
Work your way through medium doing 5 stars on everything, once you can do that, you should be good to move up to hard. also, try sliding your hand more, you needa get used to it, like from green-yellow to red-blue
As the cheat says put a rubber band round the green button because if even with the green button held down the game will only play the button pressed down

If you have enough money, unlock Jordan by Buckethead and keep redoing it on medium-hard until you get it down. It is a fairly fun song to play and is arguably the hardest song on expert. Once you get hard mode down (about 75%) all the other songs seem much easier. And try putting your index finger on the red key and all other fingers respectively, it takes a few minutes to get it down. Your index finger has a much farther reach than your pinky finger so it'll be easier to hit the green with your index finger instead of hitting the orange with your pinky finger.
Ok, I had the same problem, but my skills went up as I tried to do all the medium-songs with 5 stars... and, after that, I lett everything sink in to my head, took a while off the game, and started to playing again, took the first songs on hard, and I beated them:) Take some time, and don't rush) The leap between medium and hard is 10 times longer then from easy to medium)
Keep playing on medium but move your hand position to the lower frets so your first finger is on the second button. If you haven't noticed theres a groove (bump) on the yellow button so you can know where you fingers are without looking. keep practicing and then you'll be able to hit al the buttons flawlessly
Well, hard mode is pretty hard because of the orange key but some people stretch out the finger, but I slide my finger up and down. It took about 3 days maybe less for me to get used to the orange key.the first time I saw the orange key I freaked out and said, "I SAW A RED KEY AT THE END OF THE THRET BAR!" Just don't panic like I did...

Are you used to hitting the blue fret button? You'll get that a lot in Medium. And unlike what A2 said, I don't think hammer-ons and pull-offs are on medium. If there are, there are few, but I could be wrong.

Beast and the Harlot is actually much easier then you think. You need quick fingers thats all. I beat all songs on medium and still can only get 4 stars on Institutionalized and 5 stars on Freebird Psyobilly Freakout. Whats wrong with that picture?

How do I use the finishes for the guitars that you can purchase in the Store?

When you go to the store you have to click on it once you buy it and it should go your gatuar outherwist you waisted your money sorry buddy
Go to the "Change Guitar" menu and select the guitar you want. After you choose the guitar (by hitting green once), you will then have the option to scroll through all the available finishes for that guitar. Choose the one you want by hitting green again, and you're good to go.
It has to fit the right guitar and if it does once you choose the guitar that you bought the finish for you can either pick the one with the finish or you can just keep a regular guitar. -Answer by:LilSid

There is a Dragonforce song on GHII. its called "through the fire and flames". My friend found it on you tube, and it has to be legit I saw it with my own two eyes. I dont know how to unlock it though..
No there is no dragonforce songs on GH2 although I have seen this along with metallica and other various artists, but these tracks can only be played if you know what you are doing with computers and if you know how to moddify the game which if you know how this can be achieved you have to use dvd drivers and copiers and other thecnical things like that so I have been told.

There are nerds out there who have beat the game on expert so many times that its boring to them. they make their own programs to copy gh2 to their computer add their own songs to the program (after writing their own guitar tabs for it) then burn the game back to a dvd. the playstation thinks they just have a burned copy of the game (a mod chip will get passed that) and plays it, the only difference is the make up of all the songs are different. if you look at the begining of all these custom songs the names are all origional songs from the game. this is because the encoding on the song title is too deep to change and cant be done. ive heard it takes about 6 different programs up to about 12 hours a song untill you get good at it, and a whole lot of computer knowledge. not just anyone can do this. hope this answer helps you

Play on hard on pratice full speed and see what you screw up on and work on it
One thing I do is watch where my fingers are and try to position my fingers so I dont use my pinky much. that technique has worked for me just about all the time. just be sure you dont forget where your fingers are (ive done that its pretty easy)

Ude, my lil' sis had trouble with that song using the guitar controller. What you could do is practice a LOT or you could try to use a PS2 controller. It worked for me because my reaction was a lot faster. The colors go with certain buttuons on the control.

My hieghst score was 367,588 on the song freebird so, that should give you some idea
My score is 436,237, so beat that! = ]
A1&2 are fakes you can only get about 220,000 on freebird
