Q:Hi someone please help me. I read some where that you can add 1000000 florins entering the code in the campain map. Where is the campain map? and how do you pull it up.Also there adminisstrator codes that can be used also I have been told.Is there any truth to this and how do I use them and what keys do I press? Thank you
A1:
The campagin map is the big map you look at between battles
it consists of Europe, the middle east, africa, and some of asia.
A2:
To answer your money cheat question, you press the ~ button and a little screen should pop up saying "welcome to med shell". Then you type in, add_money 40000 that will get you 40000 florins.
A3:
Press this button (~) while on campaign map and put in cheat code
A4:
Well the cheat for 1000000 florins is Medieval Total War not Medieval 2 Total War and just stick with the ~ key cheats, U may need to download a patch to do it.

Q:When you are trying to edit the game files to unlock all factions where do you begin? I get as far as where it says Animations, cursors, fmv, sounds, and world,I click on world and get the following listing, maps ,battle,template,template_backup,etc.what do I do next? or am I in the wrong area? can someone provide a step by step procedure please? I am no computer expert.Thank you...
A1:
Maps, followed by Imperial_Campaign. Inside there, you will find descr_strat. Edit it as ordered above.
A2:
First click on 'Data', then go to 'World' - then head to 'maps' folder - then click on 'campaign'- then on 'imperial_campaign' then select the descr_strat file, where you can edit the game files. A word of warning, if you have Medieval II Gold Eedition or a Windows Vista PC, then the game might not allow you to edit the files. Or at least it won't allow me to do it :(
A3:
Go to MTW2/data/world/maps/campaing/Imperial Campaign,
This is the first you will see:

Q:What is this eligibility trait that priests and cardinals have? How do I find it? I want to know because it's supposed to be a tie breaker in a papal election if piety is also tied.
A1:
Eligability is how much more likely your priest/bishop is going to be elected to a cardinal position by the pope when there is an opening on the College of Cardinals. It also can give your cardinal a boost if he is one of the 3 Preferati (cardinals eligable to become pope) when the papal seat opens up. There are 2 traits that I know of that add eligability: "Purifier" and "Missionary". The max level on both is 3, but you can have both at the same time. Have your priest convert a population over a long period of time/over a large percentage. (Like 0% Catholic to 40% or more). If you would like to cheat, click on your priest, hit the tilde key (~), then type: "give_trait this Purifier 3" without the quotation marks and hit enter. Repeat but change the word "Purifier" to "Missionary".

Q:This is to finish my last question also in my last question and this one I am reffering too Medieval 2 Total war. thought I clear that up.My second question is how do you disable the read me file so I can save any edited files? I have windows Vista does that have any Relavence? I need expert help on this questions and I am not an expert so I will be grateful for any help I can get.Thank You
A1:
You right click on the file and select "properties". You then uncheck the "read only" button and your good to go.
A2:
You have to save it in another place, delete the first file, and copy and paste it in. I also have windows vista so this works.
A3:
You need to select the files in the Medieval folder to have Administrator access and able to edit it, you do this by right clicking on the folder - selecting properties - go to security tab - and select the account you are using - give this account full control over the folder...
This will allow you to Edit files as you like and save over the original, so I would advise you make a backup before trying this as it can and will mess up your game if you do not know what you are doing.

Q:I made changes in the descr_strat but I can't get them to show up in the game, I then tried to save the descr_strat and it said it is read only. How do I get this to work?
A1:
Save your changes under a different file name. Delete the old descr_strat file then re-name your new file as descr_strat.

Q:How do I add traits to other factions' characters? I've tried everything, but the console says it can't find the character. Please give an example!
A1:
This can be tricky, depending on the character's name. I seem to have more sucess since I add the v1.01 AND v1.02 patches. Otherwise I could only adjust another faction's character if he had a single name (i.e. Roger) For multiple names you will need quotation marks around the name, and sometimes an underscore if it's a three-part name or more. Example (I'm gonna use the leader of Venice at the beginning of a campaign as my example):
give_trait "Domenico Selvo" BadCommander 5
If it's a three-part name you may need the underscore (this next name is totally made up):
give_trait "Louis de_Dijon" BadCommander 5
Try different combinations if you get the "character not found" message, you may stumble across the right name. These cheats also apply to your own faction as far as two and three-part names. (i.e. If you started as Venice, you would need the quotes to give Domenico a trait)
A2:
Just select the character and type "give_trait this "

Q:How do you make a ship with the "create_unit". please leave exaple.?
A1:
For Settlement or Character name you have to use the name of an Admiral to which you want to add the ship so for example to add Holk's to Admiral Nigel you'd use
create_unit "Nigel" "Holk" 5 9 3 3 (or your preference)
A2:
U cant

Q:My "descr_strat" is "descr_strat.txt." and it keeps sayin it wont save because it is "text only", what should I do?
A1:
First, let's make sure you don't mess up the original. Open up a blank Notepad sheet and copy/paste the entire original onto it. Save it as "Descr_stratORIGINAL" or something so you know what it is save it in MyDocuments or something. Might be a good idea to right click on the file afterwards and check the "Read-Only" box so you can't mess it up. Next, find the icon for the descr_strat.txt in the Medieval 2 folder, not your new copy, the one that comes with the game. Right-click on this icon and UN-check the "Read-Only" box. You should now be able to change what you like. If you change soemthing that does not agree with the game, when you go to start a mission it will move you back one window. That's how you know there's a mistake in the descr_strat. If that happens, it's best to find your copy in the MyDocuments folder, copy/paste it over top of the whole descr_strat in the Medival 2 folder and start over.

Q:Hey guys playing using the english @the moment but at the moment when enter the
those elephant troops and the codes(houston, rogan, madras, etc) my game crahes every time im bout to battle and I have to start again, do I ahave to download something or what, I mean is there a limit to how many elephant troops I can have would like an answer cheers?
A1:
I've had that problem as well. It seems to be the same as on other games, e.g. Oblivion, where you can change aspects of the game using console commands. There's no way round it - the console commands conflict with what the game knows should be there and so the whole thing crashes. You'll have to manage without the elephants.

Q:How do you get gunpowder units in medival total war 2?
A1:
If you want to cheat to get gunpowder units early in the game, then look around on this forum because several people have posted about "artillary elephants" and "rocket launchers". However, in the game, you must wait quite a few years until gunpowder is "discovered". It will come across like the windmill, Mogol invasion, compass, rudder, etc. scientific discovery boxes on the left of the screen. I forget the exact date, but it's not too long AFTER the Mongol invasion.
