Q:How do I fight the German in the first level (shocker I know!) I've followed the hand signals on the screen while pushing all the buttons as well, then he just butt-strokes me and I'm back to the checkpoint again. Can anyone help?

Don't swing the controllers around like crazy, just try to do the motions at a normal pace. After the boxing like one, try to keep the controllers in a column like you would if you were actually swinging the gun. It will eventually work.
Q:In the Forest Level, when you need to destroy the barricade with the mortar, the on screen directions tell you how to move the mortar left and right but not up and down. Does anyone know how to do this?

NO just go to the next level with the cheat to unlock all levels which is at the select chapter screen hold down plus then press right 2 times left 2 times and 2 2 times

It's quite simple actually. Took me some to. You turn the wii remote clockwise to go left and anit-clockwise to go right then you turn the nunchuck clockwiseto point down I think it is and turn it anti-clockwise to go up. The Nunchuck is for the hight and the Main wii remote is for moving up and down
Just drive at about half speed and pay attention to the gunner. He will tell you when and where to turn. It's really easy to get lost if not.

Q:Okay, I have no idea what level I'm on, but I'm driving the tank. There are three objectives: stay with my battle group, destroy as much as the enemy convey as possible (which I've got the green check for), and destory the Panzeas (sp?) IV. So, I get to this field with three other Shermans and I am almost on top of my start on the map (I can't quite get on it because one of the other Shermans is on it), but I have no idea what I do now. Planes periodically fly over, but I can't shoot them.
Any suggestions on what I do next?

Press pause and go to missions. it will tell you. or just keep moving

You either check the tank all around or just restart and there is no point shooting the planes your not supposed to{just for show those airplanes}

You read what it says in the middle of the screen. If you do, then it will tell you to hold the wiimote and the nunchuk sideways and then push forward. You will find a few more parts like that during the game (I know because I've beaten the game).

Eureka! I figuered it out after failing a thousand and one times on this same problem. The solution for me was in a minor detail. When following on screen instructions with alternating thrusts of controller and nunchuck MAKE SURE YOUR CONTROLLER FACE AND NUNCHUCK JOYSTICK ARE POINTING TOWARDS YOU. Holding flat will not work. Then, once the enemy has lost grip of your weapon watch for on screen change of instructions to thrust the controller "like you might shake a spray can" to kill him. If you miss you just keep on struggling with your weapon and begin the thrusts again until an opportunity presents itself. Have fun and remember to never give up.

There is an easier way. You do the boxing motion, but when it comes to the striking him with the butt of the weapon, which is what most people have trouble with, just press the down button instead, it does the same thing. yu can practice before you walk through the door.
