Im stuck on worls 1-3 where your supposed to go on the blue platform and then press - and 1 at the same time. when I press - and 1 at the same time it doesnt work. is there an easier way to do it and when and if I press - and 1 what is supposed to happen?

Does anyone no how to open the chest in 7-4 where the person inside says "I tried to do an escape trick and tragedy struck. I could not escape."? I accidently found this chest by falling between to clouds and landing by it. I found it after I beat the game in the area with the Nimbi that fights with you, in the red shirt. Im in Chpter 3-3. im inside the tree already and everytime im in the middle of the tree I alwys enter the pipe (is you do 3D) and id you enter it always brings mhe to this spiky thing and I can't go trough... im stuck... should I need to enter dat pipe? coz.
