You have to play medium mode to play encore's.

the problem with the cheat codes for Guitar Hero is that you have to type them in super fast in order for them to work. If it takes you forever to type it in, nothing will happen. Good luck, future rockstar!

If you are wondering how to activate it you, stick your guitar so the head is pointing up or you press the select button. But if you are wondering what star power is goto the training tab in on the main menu.
You beat the stage your on
Well if you are doing this in career mode you cant play an encore song untill the crowd wants an encore. But if you want to play an encore song just beat easy mode and goto the quick play tab on the main menu screen and look for a song that you dont recognize from when you beat the main songs on easy.
