When your in vehicle mode try to get the drones on your center and shoot them quickly as possible then they will transform into robot mode and that's when you transform too and defeat them.

When shockwave has his forcefield on throw many things at the shield
when he turns into robot mode hit him as many times as you can before that when he is in vehicle mode he shoots many buildings he will destroy all the buildings when you are done with him he will transform into a helicopter catch up with him and repeat everything again.

How do you become other characters when you beat the chapter?

Play the chapter with the character you wont to be. Beat the chapter.
And when its over you will be some other character, and then just die.
(blowing up buldings will bring tanks and MH52 pave low's. They will atk you)

How do you put the humans in danger when you are playing as Megatron? We've tried shooting at people and buildings but Optimus Prime never comes out of hiding.

You cant realy hurt humans ion the game. But if you are doing the last mishen in walking gints blow up bildings. if not in that level but in the level with megatron vs prime kill the drons. if you are in neather he wont come out

When you get to the end you don't have to get him to come out of hiding. He is hiding on top of the tallest building so you got to run behind it where its smooth then start climbing when you reach the top you win.

Pathetic I know - but how do you get past the 2nd stage - i.e. stopping the decepticons from getting to the car yard etc? I can't manage to do it!

A1:

Shot all the drons going there untell they are all robots, and kill them. the secend time the drons come do the same. it sould work. (when the drons are in robot mode they go after you, and not to the car yard)

A2:

I drive straight to the Bolivia car yard and wait for the Decepticons to come to me-then when they arrive lock on shoot them with the A button- they become robots and then destroy them-- just make sure to shoot all cars first in case they come at you in two's or three's

Well you can't. But I know a way to switch characters ypu just can't keep it forever. What I mean is if you quit you can't have him you'll have to do it all over again . okay this is what you do. go to the level which has the character you want to be. now when you complete it. You have to kill yourself if your not the person you want to be. after you kill yourself you should be the character you want to be. try looking it up on youtube. okay man.
