Look at the arches and go through the one that has the shadow facing you. Do this for all of the gates and you will eventually make it out.

I take it this means you got to the statue of Sparda. when he tries to hit you with his left hand, dodge to the left and use the Devil's arm with the B button (default). after this, he'll stumble for a few seconds and try to hit you with his right arm. here's the tricky part, when he swings your right arm to you, you need to time your own arm so that you grab his. if you succeed, he'll lower his head. simply grab him with your arm again. The trick here is to look at the shadows. look closely to which direction the shadow of your character is facing, and then go the opposite way. repeat this 2 or 3 times, and you'll make it out of the forest. -Answer by:Sephiroth69

I'm having the exact same problem and HATE that it's going to keep me locked out of the rest of the game if I don't get it.
I hope you've been able to overcome this as I have...now I can get over it any time I want. What I was doing wrong was: 1) trying to jump in the air before grabbing the first Grim-Grip--this did NOT work. Stand as close to the edge as you can without falling off & then lock-on & grab the first grip. 2) standing too close to the wall--this also did NOT work as even if you could get enough momentum, you're stopped by smacking into the pillar on the other side. Instead, try standing right in the middle when grabbing that first grip. 3) not holding the left analog stick all the way across when jumping & not using the Air-Hike as soon as you're on top of the second grip---this is what gives you a "surface" so you can do a double jump to the top of that pesky wall.
It took a LOT of tries & a LOT of swearing but I finally got it---kinda like that Instant-Rev, but that's another story. Good Luck!

You can have the ability to wall kick if you do go up to a wall and hold A to jump over it

If you are Nero I think then when the statue tries to squash you,(always hit with the arm) just hit his arm with the devil bringer.it wil try to swipe at you but the right timing you can hit it again. then it will lower it,s head. hit this then you are done. (you can do the extra bit at the end for a extended movie is you want.) -Answer by:Sumner

Same as when your nero go where the shadow is pointing away from you (behind you) then keep doing that but I think it is straight, right then left but im not fully sure
