At genshin its about waiting and knowing when to strike, wait till he charges you or any other attack, wait for him to finish, hell be open for attacks a second now, what I found to work best was doing the XXY combo, it does good damage and he barely ever dodges it
Lives of a thousend gods increases health by a bit, and heals fully, so try saving it for the though bosses. also 9 life of the gods increase health, again, save your 9th one as it increase you health and heals u
Apparently, from what I have read, all you have to do is hold block and you will live. Ryu's sword somehow has the ability to flawlessly defend against massive explosions. But I have also read that some have tried this simple step and failed. The other option I heard about was to use the ninpo as a sheild right before detonation. Try either one and see.
Q:I automatically equipped the sythe after beating volf. Will this stop me getting dragon sword master achievement?

As long as you did not use an attack with the scythe and immediately switched back to the dragon sword, you will be fine. I've done this achievement and was wondering the same thing. There's also a part later on that you automatically equip a weapon. Just watch for it.
At this point you should have all weapons fully upgraded...defeating Genshin and Elizebet , use lots of evasive techniques and counter attacks with the True Dragon Sword. After defeating him he will give you his cursed blade which will turn the Dragon's Claw and Tiger's Fang into the Blade of the Archfiend sory guys... the weapon I used to defeat Elizebet was the True Dragon sword. Now after which you'll walk through a portal to the next save statue 'PHEW' there's also Murmasa's shop to upgrade or stock up on items, after going through the huge doors you'll encounter more van gelf and dragons slaughter them all, now the next boss Dagra Dai the best weapon to use against him is the Eclipse Scythe but remember block, be evasive and counter attack...all you'll need for the Archfiend is lots of health, talisman of rebirth, 3 or 4 lives of the thousand gods and the health bun that muramasa gave you which you shouldn't use up to this point in the game last but not least your fiend's bane bow and same as the last boss battles block, evade attacks and use the reverse wind technique now aim and shoot the archfiend in the face anywhere else won't damage him... now there's three stages to this battle, the last stage after the cutscene the archfiend is a bit smaller now but has more attacks, to return him to the underworld you might want to use the Eclipse Scythe level 3... the same as before evade attacks, use reverse wind and block....now kick his butt!
