You have to have perfect timing.Too soon, you'll take the bait away, too late and they'll just spit it back out.
After the mini game. You will feel a vibration in the remote. then you must point the remote to the sky but only by moving your wrist. then hold the remote still untill you get the next screen.
It helps me if I hold it backwords and fling up

You must get the long fishing rod and use the medium sea bait.

You must first catch one of every type of fish, then bring it to the man with a shell on his back, then he'll make you the bait for it and the fish will reveal itself

After you have lured the fish by having it chase the bait, you will see a fish in the bottom left corner with an (!) exclamation mark on the body. At this time tip the wii remote control vertical. Just flick your wrist up, the more subtle the movement, the better. A good indication that you have the fish on the line is that the remote is still vibrating. A good tip to remember is when you are luring the fish with the nunchuck make sure the wii remote is in a vertical position (like a real fishing pole would be). This way the sensor has a better time at sensing your upward "hooking" motion. Make sure when you have the fish hooked you don't reel it in too fast during the fight sequence or the fish will snap your line every time!

Contrary to what you think you should do, we've had better luck pulling the wiimote back note with a jerk but with a slower more steady upward motion. Not a tug but a smoother movement.
