Did you change the lot zoning? If not, go onto the lot, press CTRL + SHIFT + C, and type in "changeLotZoning apartmentbase" without the quotes. If you did it right, the single mailbox should be replaced by a group of P.O. Boxes.
You cannot have more than 8 sims per household. this is including pets. you must make a sim move out or marry off to be able to add another sim in its place.
There is a way to make more than 8 sims living in a household:
create one-eight sims and place them on a lot. then click CTRL + SHIFT + C all at once! in the white box at the top, type in "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" without quotation marks. then hold shift down and click on any sim. (sometimes a tombstone appears) a list will appear. choose SPAWN... then Life or Death. click "new baby" and a baby will appear. do this many times for more sims. then go back to the tombstone and choose "Age" and have the babies age to the age you want them to be.

All you need to have more then 8 sims in the house is to have Open for Business expansion then in the cheat box, type AddneighbortoFamilycheat on. Then click on a sim and select the "Add to family" option, this allows you to constantly add neighbours (or moved out family members to rejoin) to your family. I did this with university and had about 20 sims in 1 dorm haha
You actually have to have this thing my cousin downloaded. she can have up to 50 sims in a house! but she can also have her teens have babies, and have them have abortions or miscarriage. I don't know how she got it though, and neither does she.

The problem is probably you computer doesn't have one or two of the sims requirements so your computer has enough to play it but then after a little bit it crashes.
It could also be because you use the boolProp testingcheatsenabled true on. that happened to me one. every time you are done using it, change it to false, or else it will cause your whole game to crash. even just using it too much will cause your game to crash. Then you just lose everything

You can't build an apartment but if you want to change structure you can change to a residental lot make the changes ensuring it has all the necessary apartment things and then change lot to apartment bease. This will allow you alter an exisiting apartment
Here's how you can make an apartment building or dorm:
Buy a resident lot and build the apartment building just as you want it. Then, when youre done click CTRL + SHIFT + C all at once. a box will appear at the top. type in changelotzoningapartmentbase then press enter.

shift+click the mailbox and it will give you options
click the option that says "neighbourhood"
then click "make me know everyone"
then you can click "make friends for me" which will make you like everyone in the neighbourhood which is great for getting ahead in jobs, etc.
but just as a warning if you make friends with everyone in the neighbourhood, once your friendship levels decrease everyone your sims knows will call and you will get the little reminders popping up telling you to call them or whatever to continue to be friends. which can be very annoying if you have a large neighbourhood!
If you type in boolprop testingcheatsenabled true then click shift and click on the postbox it will have a load of things to do, click the one that says know everyone.

If you do the boolprop cheat, then get up the sim modder (the freaky little baby thing), then when the headmaster arrives for dinner, get any or all of your sims, click on the sim modder, "select relationships", "mutual with other", "*name of headmaster*", "likes". This will give you sim an instant best friendship with the head, and though it doesn't get you all the way, it gives you a hell of a head start. Also, most of your schmoozing will turn out better. This combined with maxing out the cooking skill (also with the sim modder) generally gives me all I need to get my sim kids into private school

Well first of all you need the proper apartment door. Each apartment is suppose to have a kitchen with counter, stove, fridge, a bath and I generally give a simple bedroom with bed and dresser. This will give each apartment a value and it should allow you work. Now while you are adding all these items you have to change the zoning to residential and then once complete change zoning to apartment base. Once its done you have to the community then back in. For some strange reason it need to go to community before it recongises the changes to the apartment
Make sure there are other apartments with the right APARTMENT door. make sure the other apartment(s) have a bedroom, kitchen, bath, etc so that NPC's can actually put things in there.
You do not need a tombstone to turn yourself into a vampire however, you will need the Nightlife expansion pack, because I was never able to create one without it. After typing in "boolProp testingcheatsenabled true", shift-click on your sim. One of the options is "make vampire", and if you have the expansion pack then this is all you need to do. The tombstone of L and D is something unrelated to vampirism, but if you would like to access it for other game cheat options then you shift-click your sim, select "spawn" from the menu and choose "Tombstone of L and D"

Yes you can turn an existing lot into an apartment lot. You first have to make sure that there's no one living on the lot. If there's anyone living there, when you try to change the lot zoning, it will crash your game.
Next, you have to break your lot into sections that have only on entrance into them and this door must be the apartment door (the one with the little door mat in front of it). If you want your apartment to have more than one door to it, then you have to be sure that no one from the outside can get to that door. You can do something such as add a fence to separate the yards and have a door(s) out into the lot, you just can't have a gate in it.
Also, be sure that you have all of you plumbing, electrical, lighting, smoke alarms, etc in place. Once you convert the lot to apartments, you can't place these items unless you convert it back to residential again first, which is a pain.
Once your lot is ready for move in, hit CTR+SHIFT+C to open the cheat window.
Enter the cheat code as follows:
changeLotZoning apartmentbase
After this, save and exit the lot.
Once you are in the neighborhood viewer, you should see a money sign floating above the lot you just converted.
You should now be ready to move your family(ies) in!

If your sims have a primary or secondary aspiration of "knowledge", then one of the lifetime reward options is "summon aliens." In order to use this interaction, you need to purchase a telescope.
If you wish to change your sim's primary aspiration in order to make this an option, you can do so by typing "boolProp TestingCheatsEnabled true" and then shift-clicking your sim. If you navegate the different options that appear, you should be able to find the aspiration option that will allow you to manipulate the level (gold/bronze/min/etc) and type of aspiration your sim has. Change it to knowledge, and the lifetime reward options will remain checked if you've already redeemed them, but instead will correspond with the new primary aspiration.
First you build a residental lot. Then you build your apartment, once your done you press Ctrl+Shift+C then a cheat box should be on the top of the screen then tipe in (changelotzoning apartmentbase) then press Enter. Then get out of build mode and save it. Then your it should be an apartment. I Hope It Helped.
Make an empty lot like you're going to build a regular house. You have to be in neighborhood first and click how big you want the lot. Make sure the front door is an "apartment door" otherwise this WILL NOT work. I also wasn't able to use any other doors leading to the outside UNLESS it opened to a private yard sectioned off from the rest of the LOT and other sims in the apartment. For example I built a fence with a gate in it and I couldn't use it because it had a gate. You'll receive a message saying there is an "invalid apartment". Didn't know it at the time so I just deleted the doors leading to outside. Anyways, you can just build your house, be especially careful of where you put the walls inside because you will not be able to change these later. And don't forget to put doors for all rooms because once you're in the game you only have access to FLOORS and PAINT and I think some gardening stuff for building options once in-game. When you're all done open the cheat box CTRL+SHIFT+C and enter this exactly:
changelotzoning apartmentbase
There is a space between (changelotzoning) and (apartmentbase) only.
Then press ENTER and voila! Homemade apartment! It's a lot of fun once you get the basics. On another note I usually like to put furniture before I move my sim in but unless you enter: (Boolprop testingcheatsenabled true) in the cheat box while in the neighborhood, your sims won't be able to. Once you've done this, walk them to the door, press SHIFT while clicking on the door and you shoud receive an option that says Rent Apartment Furnished. Otherwise the place will be empty.

Start with a residential lot... divide the apartments up with the Apartment doors.. no normal doors leading to outside/community areas or they wont work.. once you have it the way you want it hold ctrl+shft+c and enter changelotzoning apartmentbase. save and leave the lot.. and it should have the apartment icon floating around on top! Sorry I meant press shift ctrl and C then type, moveObjects on, in the window that appears. press enter. Go into buy mode, select the hand, pick up the neighbour and press the delete key. Press shift ctrl C again and type moveObjects off.
Type the boolprop cheat and make him selectable then just delete the action, or you can type the moveobjects cheat and delete it in build mode, hope I helped :)
If you cant get him out of a spa then you can shift delet him or you can make him go in your family then you make him go out then make him leave thats maby how!
I had a problem like this one time. Try turning on move_objects on and click on the spa and delete it. He should go with it. If not, delete him too and then buy a new spa. He will still be in your game, just not spa.
This happens from time to time and the best thing I can think of is to open the cheat window and use the "moveObjects on" cheat... you can select him (or the whole spa) and delete him off your lot. hope this helps p.s Dont forget to re enter the "moveObjects off" when youre finished!
Well you can get out the cheat box (Ctrl+Shift+C)then type in moveObjects on and press enter .After that you pick up you neighbour and place him/her somewhere else or delete her/him .
In order to become a werewolf you have to befriend the wolf that comes a visting with the golden eyes. Usually this is difficult because they grow bored easily. I usually make the wolf selectable by using boolprop testingcheatsenabled true then I maxmotives everylittle while I play, stroke and befriend the wolf. Also it has to be during the night so set the hour to be like 1 am. then when your friends the wolf will bite you and you will become a werewolf

I have windows vista, you have to go onto the sim's website, and download a patch, they all say what they are for, this helped me. and i also waited 4hours for the first time, for my sims to load so put the disc in and go away for 4 hours, and come back and it should load. (sim's isn't supposed to be played on laptops though)
When you go out to shop, go to Freya's Raiments. wait around for a while, a witch will usually show up. once one does talk to it a lot and become friends(or use boolprop and select "make me friendly to everyone here") once your friendly with her, press on her and choose "teach me the way of dark/light"
Go to sims 2 website do exchange and press sims and then type in anyone like mermaids aliens or just look through them pick some and download dont download to much or your game crashes every time you play
