Yea, if you are a righty, come down the right wing, then start turning towards the middle while winding up a slap shot. when you get directly in front of the defenseman, shoot it in between his legs, he screens his own goalie, its an easy goal. I moved up to superstar b/c I was scoring 10 goals a game like this.
Skate into the slot from the side and on the forehand, and just after you cross the middle shoot a snap or wrister to the top corner on the side you came in on, ie, if you skate from left to right, shoot at the upper left corner of the net. The goalie is sliding to his right and cannot stop the shot. The key is to be patient enough to wait until just after you cross the middle to get the goalie moving. The best area, from my experience, is just behind the middle of the faceoff circles, about 15-20ft from the net. The defensemen will block the shots about half the time and sometimes the shot ricochets off the crossbar, but it is an easy goal when the puck makes it through and when in the correct position. Also, slapshots from the point with traffic work well and every once in a while I get an easy one with the 5-hole. I usually shoot high, as i'm sure most do, so I don't know if this works because of the AI learning?
Just put it on net, if that doesn't work, maybe you should go back and practice some more.
Come of the boards on the break and cut into the slot and shoot top right to were you came from this way you use the defense man as a screen
My best trick to score is to try pass in front of the 2 d-men of the opposite team while powering a great wrist shot on the opposite side/hight of where im going. One or two goals per game.
I find the wrap around works well, and also just skating close to the goalie/cross the crease, and shoot late usually works. or calling for a pass that crosses just outside the crease, usually leaves you some open net. I would suggest 'manual' shot aim, since you don't get alot of open net changes, you will be able to capitalize on those opportunities.
Aim for the opposite corner the goalie is in and shoot high
Right what works for me is to turn shooting onto manual aim, then go into the game and head up the right wing, as you get just past the blue line aim for the top left of the goal, and wind up a slapshot, the AI has a deficiency to save long ranged angled shots from the wing. its even better on blocker side, but make sure to mix up your strategy and play it to the slot from time to time.

Yes there is a very easy way to score. you come down the ice if your a left handed shooter then come down the right side or so you if you cut in towards the center of the ice you would be on your forehand. but you come down the ice and once you get to the top of the circles cut inhard. get to bout the center of the ice and fire away aimin towards the way you came so for ex. your a lefty and your goin down the right side of the ice and you cut in and you aim to the right on the net this works bout 50% of the time if you do it right and the back checkers arent on u

Go around the goal and make a slapshot from the slot aiming at the upper corner of the goal from the side you are coming around (if you go around the right side of the net and come out on the left, aim for the upper left corner or vice versa)
Hey, It's Phil from Rocklin, CA. Go Sharks, Go Ovechkin! Anyway, to be able to score better, its probably best if you have a fast slap shot and wrist shot. So, during the game menu (starting lineups, gamplay settings, visual settings), go to the gampley settings and press rb to change the screen to other options. Change the screen to the wrist shot and/or slapshot settings and raise the power and accuracy. Next, while playing in a game try to make wrist shots as fast as possible by moving the thumbstick in an upside down "u" motion. L8r.
Yea you have 2 skate the puck in with a righty from the right side, cut to the middle and shoot a full power wrist shot top right from the middle right below the blue line.. if you do it right you can score 6-7 goals a game
I can tell you what I do that seems to work. although learning your own style is key for online so don't rely on this. but there's two ways I attack a goalie
take the center to either zone and aim either side top cheese, mixing up slaps and wrists
let a forward cross the line and set my self up for a the same shot only 1 timer.
this usually gets me a hat trick or better but its not a for sure way.
oh and try to shoot between the opposing players, the goalie will have trouble seeing the puck that way.

If you are heading toward the net just outside the right face off circle and have a defenceman in front of you just shoot between his legs top right corner or as long as he is in front of you as a screen it should work. not always but about 70% of the time

If your playing on classic controls it is LT-Y a couple of times and you will be fighting...... but the fighting SUCKS so badly
Dont do turnover, get some takeaway, block shot and dont ask the puck from the computer ofr nothing.....if you are in good position they will give you the puck....and best way to get team play up quick is to play as a defense man
Watch your shifts you can be greedy with the puck and as long as you get off the ice at the right time ie. dump the puck and race for the bench you team play will be A
Most importantly, do not take penalties...They are the quickest way to bring down your team plat grade
In order to bring up team play as a forward I learned that you need to do what your players type is. i.e. If your a sniper take a lot of shots from good shooting areas, If your a dangle try to dangle or make a move on someone, playmaker obv make some passes. Back check also like this other guy said takeaways and interceptions def help big time. And def turnovers are bbad so try to give yourself a chance to not get hit right away when the computer is passing to you.
Be the most greedy player ever no joke. I only pass to get stats up and im always a+ for team play ask for the puck never pass just try it.

I was in the same boat so I started getting assists! your team likes it when they score but you look good when you get a point and a +1! Just get some assists.... heres a super top secret way to get assists or score (not really lol), but just look at the score with about 2 minutes left in the game. If your team is up by either 1 or 2, the other team pulles their goalie with less than a minute left so make sure your rested up for those 45 seconds about. Try real hard to get the puck and rush down the ice.... if you want a goal, just shoot a wrister (not a slap because you might miss!), and if you want an assist just wait for a teammate and giver a pass... they'll put er away (hopefully) and you'll chalk up a helper on the goal. hope I helped!
A great way to get a good ''Team Play'' score: Late 3rd. have a 1 or 2 goal lead so the opposite team pull their goalie. Get an assist on an empty net goal, the ''Team Play'' should get very high. I think it's the best way to raise it.

I don't think so. The idea is to show your player gradually turning into a superstar. Just keep popping in goals and meet or exceed your season expectations. I assume you are manually raising your stats in the Your Career menu as you get xp points!? If not look thru the manual and it will explain.

It just doesn't work end of story. keep the puck moving in the slot and make the goalie move around and get him out of position. that's how you score.

You cant get him on an nhl team, the only way that I have found is to creat your own team, once there you have to draft your teams players, you can not take off the salary cap so make him cheep, and your created player will show up under free agents.
What you have to do is go to roster movement after you created him and saved him. Then just look for him under the free agents and just move him to what ever team you are going to start a dynasty with. It only works if you havnt started yet.
You go to rosters and roster moves you pick the team you want him to be on then the created player will be on the free agents but you have to remove a player from the team
Could make him, save him, and go to edit rosters. Then put him on the team you want and save it. Then start the dynasty, it should work.
Make the player, save him, start your dynasty,take the salary cap off when you start your dynasty, he should be there when you enter free agents
Create him and remove the salary cap once you have signed him from the free agents menu he will be on the farm team you have to do some juggling and send down a guy and bring your guy up, and of course you will have to edit lines to get your guy suited up and on the ice.

Make more saves! No really, there's only one trick to playing net, which is the hardest position to play in Nhl 09. I started out playing in be a pro and had shot 2.5 goals against and 88 save %. Then I started playing online and did worse for about my first 20 games...now I'm up to 1.29 goals againt and a 91.5% in saves. It takes practice...anyway the one trick is to rack up some desperation saves. That's where you hit L1 (ps3) And fall on your side to make a save. This and shutouts help boost your team play (along with shootiut saves (which never happens...I have one shootiut save on one attempt in 200+ games). Other than that...you really just have to be good at playing your angles. And never let your guard down. Good luck!

Ok. This is gonna be a long answer. I played with every different type of player (ie. playmaker, sniper, grinder, etc.) and every postition and find that the easiest way to score goals *even with default attributes* is to do one of these 2 things. Btw, this works best with sniper or another type of character with about 65-99 attribute in wrist shot accuracy.

Then, when you are approaching the goalie, pull you stick to the side, at the last second, pull the stick (right thumbstick) to the lower left side and on the left thumbstick put it to the upper right. This is my version of the Datsyuk Deke and it works just about every time, sometimes you will hit the post but most times you just hit net :)
