I think you have to have the update downloader installed. I think you need to go to the sims 3 site for it if you dont have it but its usually there already when you install the game. I hope this helps.

The sims 3 launcher can't be running while installing updates thats why it shuts itself down until the updates r installed

If you have a PC its CTRL SHIFT C. If you have a Mac then its command instead of control. if that doesn't help unlike sims 2, sims 3's cheat bar is a translucent blue instead of a bright white so it could be there just not noticed

There is no life time happiness cheat you can type in for the sims 3, however you can try holding down control and clicking above the lifetime chest thingy. It works some of the time for me. good luck

If your story progression is on your sims will age together unless youve turned off his aging I believe. If your story progression is off then nobody ages from what Im seeing.

I would need to know where you are now...in the create a sim? Or in the edit town? Or in the neighborhood? Try resubmitting your question with more detail and someone will probably answer.

Go "Edit Town mode". Press CRL+ALT +C. A cheat box will show up. type in "freerealestate" without quotes. press enter. Now you can move your family in.

Try typing "TestingCheatsEnabled True". I had the same problem.
On and true both work. Once enabled you shift-click on things like sims, mailboxes, etc to get options. You can also move many of the sliders by click-draging the red or green bars when game is in play. Thats the easy way to make someone your best friend or skip a meal or two. Warning: slide cheating to skip sleeping, bathing, etc will not give your sim the full benifits of the bed or bath.

It's testingCheatsenabled true The C in Cheats is the only capital letter.
I didn't have any props with it, I just typed in "testingcheatsenabled true" and then I used it!

Is their anyway to creat duplicate houses? On the Sims 2 all you had to do was build a house, put it in your lots/houses bin and then you could place that house as many times as you wanted but with the Sims 3 three you can't put the houses in the lot/houses bin. So can you not do duplicate houses for the Sims 3?

Go to 'EDIT TOWN' then click on house. A box comes up with house details. There you will find options for it. Ie, edit details, build etc, etc. One of the options allows you to copy the house (I cant remember exact wording) Click that button and house will be copied to vacant lots/ houses.

Do ctrl shift c and then type in "testingcheatsenabled true" then shift click on your sims's mailbox and "Make Needs Static" will come up click on that and your sim will have perfect needs.
You can open up the ctrl shift c menu for cheats, then type in testingcheatsenabled true then you can just drag up the energy bar..

I downloaded the new neighborhood, but am not seeing it come up in downloader. When I try to re-download it off the site, it just freezes up. Same goes with the Prius...help!?

After they have become a star and perform concerts the option will be given to you at the stadium or movie theater. Performing concerts here is also a different option than when you click on your guitar and choose perform. To perform a concert you will click on the stadium or theater and choose perform concert.

Just take your sim to where there is a body of water and then click on the water. The menu (depending on what level you are on) will say fish, inspect water, stock pond, and choose bait. Just click on fish. Your sim will fish with a lure until later. Later when your sim is more skilled you can stock the pond and/or choose bait. The fish you catch depend on your skill level, the pond itself as different fish are found in different locations, and the bait you use. There are a couple of fish that can only be caught after midnight also but thats all I'll tell you so you can figure out the rest for yourself. Happy fishing!
Just turn on the aging long enough to do the birthday cake to age the sim then turn the aging back off.
Type in testingCheatsenabled true into the cheat bar before you go into play mode (so while in either the main menu or edit neighborhood mode). Then shift and click on them. Trigger age transition should be an option. They will age after awhile. To make it go faster you can speed up the game.

I have no idea, but maybe you guys have a glitch in your game because my cheat box works fine.
Try this...press Ctrl and keep holding it down while you press Shift and keep holding that down to and then press c
If you have Vista you have to press ctl + shift + c + the windows button.
Don't let go one you've pressed each button keep holding until the cheat box comes up

I have Vista and you don't have to press windows. Try pressing ctrl and shift at the same time, continue holding them down and press c. Ctrl , shift, c wouldn't wok for me either until I started delaying c for just a second. This works every time for me.

The Death Flower is for if you die your sim will give the grim reaper the flower and walaa your sim lives again but the flower disappears
You keep it in your inventory. There is no use for it until you die, then you can give it to the grim reaper and he revives you. :)
You should keep it because when your sim dies you can give it to the grim reaper and he will give you another chance at life

Go near the object you are interesting in stealing and go swipe something..or something like that. in order to steal no one has to see you and has to be dark. you cant steal more than 3 things per night.
Have the sim go on the pc and choose move. Then you will be shown the town with available homes for them to move into. Click on the house you want for them and you should be able to figure out the rest.
You can use phone, computer, or edit town. You must have enough simolians to move into the new house. You do not have to move everyone but those left behind will not be controlable. -Answer by:shermda

You can download Riverview for free from the offical website and you can get apploosa plains with the pets expansion pack as well,
Go on voume (on you pc not the sims =))click on mixer then itl come up with the sims 3 (if its running) the drag it down! then you can put what you want on and no sounds from sims will be heard =D
Go to Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Custom Music. Keep that window open.

As you are first walking in to the graveyard it is on the other side of that fence on your right side. It looks like a plant from your garden and when you hover over it it will say death flower. You may regret picking the flower though because you will play with lots of sims and you only get one flower once off that bush and then it dies. It is better to get the death flower other ways. One way is through the seeds that are first given to you by the restaurant after filling the opportunities associated with gardening. The other way is through fishing. You get different things from fishing, not just fish. Either way requires a whole lot of patience though but its best I think.

My Sims3 freezes up, and if you keep clicking you'll hear a "boop" sound. I have to turn off the computer, with the button, when I turn it back on the screen is messed up but I can fix it, is there a way it can stop freezing, I heard that the video maybe out of date, so I was going to try on the downstairs computer, cuz' it no work on my laptop.?

It's probably just that your computer doesn't have the specs for the game. Try updating your harddrive, check the memory, stuff like that. An outdated Video Card will most difinetly cause your game to crash, so I would get the most up to date stuff before attempting to install/play TS3. Hope this helps! -Bek
