PLEASE READ IT'S FOR ALL YOUR CONCERN, TRUST ME! THIS QUESTION IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT FOR "HARDCORE" SIMMERS!
Actually, I have been playing the sims 3 for 2 days now and I really dont like the new "idea" they have for the sims3. Because, you dont get to interact or even meet the other family/sim you have created earlier. Based on my experience. like if you play one sim then chose to make another one and play with it and live with another house then maybe you want your latter sim to marry the sim you first made/played with or maybe you want your "new" sim to be friends with your "old" sim or something like that. in sims3 I cant do that. they are in different town/gameplay. Is there like a way maybe? like in one town all the sims that I CREATED would be like neighbors and friends or whatsoever? I only get to meet and interact the pre-made sims in the town but not the other sims I created. I really dont know how. do you know a way?

That is a really good question. I have that same issue. I don't know if there is a way.... maybe merging the families in one house....

Actually when you play a household go to "options" and "edit town". There you can create houses with familys from the other towns. And you can also change your "active" household to switch to another house.

I completely agree! The primary new version of the sims is spectacular but they did cut out some key factors that were in the previous sims. I may not want to hook up with local sims

If you want all your sims in the same town then click edit town and create different sims but when you switch the active household watch out because all wishes will be lost.

At the "edit town" level, you can change households by selecting another household to be your active household (although you loose promised wishes when you do that.) I've found it to be a little tricky navigating from one household to the next like that (it seems to be a two or three step process instead of a one step process like in Sims 2, but given the lack of loading times, it's still faster than ever!)

Another thougth is that if you want two households to be friends, just move them in next to each other. It's really easy to click on a neighbor and go visit them, or walk over when you see them checking for their mail. My Sims have met several neighbors this way and they often go over to friends houses, the same way they'd go into town (as long as somebody is home at least!)

For a while I had the aging and story progessions (in options) switched off, because I am used to playing multiple faimlies at once, but after a while, I switched them back on so the neighbourhood would go ahead and age and grow and so far I have enjoyed it. It's different than before and I had to "give up" on one Sim I created (he got too old for me to go ahead with the initial "plan") -- but it was so cool that when my couple moved back in with his parents after the birth of their second set of twins that the grand parents are elders now. (Oh yeah and Gunther Goth died right in my Sim's living room! My Sim didn't like it, they were best friends, but I thought it was cool, LOL.)

Anyway, good luck. I'm sure with the story progression and age switched to off, it'll feel more like the Sims 2. From there it's just a matter of switching active households in the edit town mode.

You can interact with every family in your town.
Don´t make a new town every time you create a sim.
Just create and install all families in the same town and then switch between active household.

A6 is correct. If you do that and find that you aren't running into the sims you'd like to around town, you can always go right to their house and introduce yourself!

I know to use a cheat you have to press crtl+shirt+c and I've done that multipul times. I made sure I was pressing them all at the same time, and then I tried pressing them one by one and the box for the cheats still won't appear. Any ideas whats wrong?

Hi in build mode I CANNOT add a roof to my home. Also when I buy a home I can no longer view the roof and when I go into edit town the roof doesnt show any house that I have lived in or visited. Its still there but I can't see it. Has anyone else had this problem cos its driving me mad!?

According to what I've seen and read, the neighborhood will keep advancing around you whether you are on a particular family or not. The entire neighborhood is synched so if you have two sims that are kids at the same time, one won't stay a child while the other becomes an adult.

All families play in their own version of the town, so you can't have two families that you create interact with each other. The two versions of the town don't play simultaneously, I believe.

The "Living" Neighbourhood can be turned off in the options menu by disabling "Story Progression." Also you can only control 1 family per saved game. What this means is, the family you control will be saved as your only active family in that save file. Any other sims can be placed as "copies" into your neighbourhood but to control them you will need to change active households (losing wishes and achievements of that household) and then either save over, or create a new save file. This way if you have multiple people using the same computer, they won't mess up your family. Also you have the option of buying unfurnished or fully furnished homes :)

Your other family wont live without you. You can invite them to a party or something ( if you know them ) but it wont affect the other family. But the neighborhood around you keeps to grow

In the Sims 3 the creators have chosen the best parts of the previous Sims games and the expansion packs and used it in the Sims 3. ie. cars from nightlife, and being able to brush your teeth. So, yes, mobile phones are in the game because I saw it in a video clip as well and the mobile phones are from the university expansion pack :)

My Politician Sim had one immediately, whereas my Cooking Sim never got one. I think, if your work doesn't provide you with one, you have to buy it.

Yes, (at least the adult sims by what i've played so far) all have mobile phones. You get it as soon as you start the game, and you cannot get rid of it =]. Not really sure why they still have house phones now tho lol.

Mobile phones have actually replaced real phones, you can still have a house phone but every sim has a mobile phone now.
The most awesome part is that you don't have to worry about missing calls if you're playing with headphones. You can see the phone ringing in the sims pocket

Yes, just check the backpack icon of any sim and it will be automatically included with and for all sims. you can choose a ringtone even take a picture, choose to silence the phone or just ignore the call.

Acquire a dresser. Click on it and select "Plan Outift." It will take you back to the CAS where you can create two additional outfits. Your sim will have three outfits. They can change outfits either through the dresser or when you click on your sim.

Buy a dresser. click on it and it should say change outfit or plan outfit. click plan outfit and you can choose 3 different outfits for each category (i.e. Formal) you can go back and do that at anytime. unless you are pregnant then you can only change outfits.

Erm... So you're asking if you can change the top and bottom's separately in the CAS mode right? Or do you mean after you have already made the Sim and moved them into a house? Either way you just click on the clothing button and then choose the top and bottom separates (Two different buttons, one looks like a shirt and the other trousers) and then pick the tops and bottoms you want.

After you have already started playing you have to buy a dresser and click on it, from the pie menu you select the option to plan an outfit.

Sorry if this doesn't't answer your question, but said question was pretty vague...

I got my Sims game on the June 5TH day of it coming out I installed it and it kept turning off so today (Sunday 7TH ) I got a computer, it works a WHOLE lot better a laptop will be VERY slow and might keep turning off so I suggest getting a PC and installing it.

It is a load of rubbish all this min spec, I was panicking when I read the specs cos my laptop doesnt meet any of them! I got the game last nite, installed it and it runs perfect, yeah graphics are abit poo, but who cares about that! It says min 2.6ghz processer 1.5 gb ram, min this min that. I have a 1.6ghz processor and just about enuf memory! so chuffed with the game! Im addicted haha :)

It's fine to play on a laptop. I do, and my processor is in fact even lower than the minimum requirement for it to run and it still runs smoothly.

All you have to do is buy a car and click on it and options will come up for where you want to go also I have realized that when you do go somewhere and get out sometimes your car is nowhere to be found so there is a little arrow by your sims face and you can click on that to go home and your car will show up or if you leave home by your car and leave town by foot or cab your car will show up in your inventory

For me, I just click the car, (i have one that looks kinda like a convertable. idk if its just the car or what) but I click it, and it tells you if you want to go to a community lot, persons home or what, (usually community lot is what you wnat) then it asks you to pick a place, (ive only done this once, and I picked theatre so again, idk if it was just what I did or what) then my sim went to the car, got in, and drove off and then I had the camera to follow her. then she got out of the car, once upon arrival, then the car dissappeared into her inventory. when you want to go back, click the inventory then the car, the car appears then click to go home, then you go home and it stays in the lot thing that you're supposed to buy for it.

haha well, hope this helps cuz I know what its like to have no help from anybody that actually knows stuff... no offence to anybody else that posted on this question. but when I did, I got all these retarded answers from people that had absolutly nothing to deal with my questions. (it was about how to get this cheat to work, they posted about pregnancy, I was like WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS?) haha well anyway. like I said hope it helps. I know what its like to have no help.
