I have researched sooo much about this and it seems that developers have made it sure that you cannot buy from rival teams.. you will just have to hope that the desired player gets transferred to some other team and den you can buy.... I wanted to buy messi , I was real madrid.. :-(

Well you can only buy a player from a rival team when the player is sold to another club and its offer then comes like am barcelona and I bought n sergio ramos but not from madrid but from villareal
That's right. Better change his team before beginning the manager mode. I'm with Arsenal now and I have players like Ronaldo, Gerrard, Alonso and I even change Kevin Doyle name's to my own name. haha it's fun you know... Go get yourself.....
All you have to do is keep placing bids on him for 2 years,eventually the club will get tired of you and he will become a free agent or take the offer
