Level up your character preferably 30+. also have a fast horse so you can catch up with liu bei. also you must use the shortcut so liu bei won't escape that easily.
Start killing the refugees as you pass them, then if your problem is you just barely reach him, go through the shortcut (Near the bottom of the stage, 2 forts near each other) and you should be able to either come close, or reach him. Level up his speed with the skills like Swift foot (if he has) then get a really fast horse (preferably one of the king horses, or just 400+ will do.)
A good way would to raise his attack and defense. I play the battle of Xu Chang on sun ce's forces and defeat everyone on easy difficulty
keep doing that and itll be easier
A1 first you check if there's any scratches or not.
A2 second clean it like wipe is with your spit or water then wipe.
And A3 third go to the store where you bought it and asked them to repair it and that's what you do! :). That's what I did......(A3) hehehe.
On any character when you reach level 50, you unlock their voice gallery (I haven't unlocked it for any of my characters, only a level 45 character, sorry) and the diamonds with the #s next to them...that means you can access their alternative costume. To wear it, press the circle button on your controller and they will wear that costume. You unlock that feature at level 25. Hope this helps.

On all the characters when you reach level 50 you get their voice gallery and at level 25 (I have a PS2) you get their 2nd costume/color

Anyone with weapon with ice. I beat him with zhao yun level 2 spamming his triangle move and just level 2 renbu. it was on hu lao gate easy mode. or get a good horse with high destruction stat preferably level 5 and run over lu bu. even a level 1 character can beat him with a level 5 horse with high destruction stat.
I would be your favorite character and go to free mode and do five battles. then try to beat lu bu. if can't do the same thing. that's how I defeated lu bu.
I beat Lu Bu with Zhao Yun (lv1), Guan Yu (lv5), and Zhang Fei (lv5) on normal and with Liu Bei (lv5) on easy. Just keep juggling Lu Bu with renbu attacks and interm save when you are in red and when Lu Bu is about to die.
Make sure that you stay on the defensive by rolling when he uses charge attacks the after that hit with one of your own or guard and when he hits knock him away and save your musou attack because you are going to need it
Some characters you cant play in musou mode. only in free mode and challenge mode

If you unlock a charcter like Guan Ping because of a target, they will NOT be able to go through a scenario, if you unlock someone like Zhang Liao because of a scenario being completed, he will have a scenario to do. -Answer by:sj65

Don't panic, I'm also completing his scenario, all you need to do to is train Sun Jian up to about level 15-20 and try. For the leader thing you might want a horse with about 420 or higher speed. -Answer by:sj65
Well it took me a while to do it and or 1 time but have him super strong and lets see oh and if you see someone heading to your master go over there fast with a fast horse and if you keeep getting killed have a horse that has a power where you ram a person and it gets super injured I have one and I never lose hope I helped. -Answer by:4myalika
I have the same problem right now, and what im going to do is train him to level 20 or 19, get his attack ups on his skill menu, and im using maxed out grey dream (420 speed)
The horses all come up with different names, even the if I have the same horse as you on our games they could have diferent names, it is ll random I believe. Keep a look out for the stats of the horses when you are deciding to keep or discard, obviously the higher stats are the ones you will keep, but only the higher starting stats!
Either you dropped the game and it got a deep scracth or your ps2 has something in it and when you play it the thing will cut the game so take it to the place where you got it and let them fix it
I have the same problem. I guess its a problem with a certain PS2 model. It caused me to give up on DW5. What sucks is when your friend is waiting to play this with you. I have found that this games takes about 5 minutes to load. Usually when I play DW6, I find something else to do while I hit reset every 5 minutes until it starts. Then again, maybe we should just get new PS2's...
It is possible that your laser that reads the movie or dvd section of your games in your PS2 is burned out. There r 2 reading lasers in the PS2, one for the computer graphics and one for the video graphics. Most PS2's will have the laser burn out after awhile, its just how they work. Go buy a new one.
It happened to me too, we went to get 4 games (at a time, we retuerned the ones who didnt work) and it didnt work, then we cleaned the PS2 and it worked hope I helped
You have to have the right horse and ride it for at least three levels so then you can see right below your horse's pic. you'll see a box that says find weapon and then you have it!

Training is random I think. or it is pre fixed when you get the horse. but the ones with get weapon are quite common.
Go to setting, change time to 12 h 00 00 am of august 4th 2008, and then use liu beu or wang binh with lady luck skill, use horse with saddle finding skill
If you want to unlock Lu Bu you have to play Cao Cao,Sun Jain,and Liu Bei,and Daio chan.You can play Diao Chan by playing 1 Wu,Wei,and Shu.You cannot play his officers like Song Xain.
Yes, its possible to defeat him you just have to be careful and attack. You can also have good weapons such as 90+. Keep getting health and come back to attack him. Mosou also work.
