Level up your character preferably 30+. also have a fast horse so you can catch up with liu bei. also you must use the shortcut so liu bei won't escape that easily.
If you kill the refugee units liu bei halt his advance
Start killing the refugees as you pass them, then if your problem is you just barely reach him, go through the shortcut (Near the bottom of the stage, 2 forts near each other) and you should be able to either come close, or reach him. Level up his speed with the skills like Swift foot (if he has) then get a really fast horse (preferably one of the king horses, or just 400+ will do.)
A good way would to raise his attack and defense. I play the battle of Xu Chang on sun ce's forces and defeat everyone on easy difficulty

Just get to a very high level, then upgrade all the things that make you faster, get a really fast horse, take the shortcut, kill refugees, also dont spend time on other officers, just go for liu bei, get across the bridge before Zhang Fei gets in rage and soon you will beat him!

I got 2 rare horses since now, but you must do it a LOT of times to get all horses (i did it over 50 times and I got only 2)

I got dapple king its a beast its close to the red hare I have horses that gets close ranked to red hare but there speed is 500 the fastest they got but thats all get the horses with red skin color

You can defeat Lu Bu with anyone, just make sure your wepon has the flash ability. This ability sometimes gives massive damage to an enemy, so for example you can kill him in 3 or 4 hits if your lucky. Also, use the mousu attack when fighting him, it helps a lot.

You just have to open and close your ps2's disk box quickly then press start and enjoy your game.It's because ps2's hardware is weak and you can't see the film of Wu musou mode(also some Wei musou modes)

In Dynasty Warriors 5 you complete 1 wei 1 shu and 1 wu mousu mode. In Dynasty Warriors 5 you do Sun Jian , Cao CAo , Diao Chan, and Liu Bei Mousu.

The horses all come up with different names, even the if I have the same horse as you on our games they could have diferent names, it is ll random I believe. Keep a look out for the stats of the horses when you are deciding to keep or discard, obviously the higher stats are the ones you will keep, but only the higher starting stats!
Yeah, I have 1 red hare king and 1 auburn king...i think both of them are SUPER HORSE
On any character when you reach level 50, you unlock their voice gallery (I haven't unlocked it for any of my characters, only a level 45 character, sorry) and the diamonds with the #s next to them...that means you can access their alternative costume. To wear it, press the circle button on your controller and they will wear that costume. You unlock that feature at level 25. Hope this helps.
On all the characters when you reach level 50 you get their voice gallery and at level 25 (I have a PS2) you get their 2nd costume/color
On voice gallery you can see and hear everything they say including grunts and sayings!

I have the same problem right now, and what im going to do is train him to level 20 or 19, get his attack ups on his skill menu, and im using maxed out grey dream (420 speed)

If you dont care about getting the targets, just go straight to the enemy main camp and take out the leader. You can do the level on free mode later to get the targets if you want them.

Sorry... I have the wrong answer lately... well... this is the real answer because I think sun jian's goal target was take west and east castle but the real was defeat cao cao. well, here's the real answer.

Either you dropped the game and it got a deep scracth or your ps2 has something in it and when you play it the thing will cut the game so take it to the place where you got it and let them fix it
I have the same problem. I guess its a problem with a certain PS2 model. It caused me to give up on DW5. What sucks is when your friend is waiting to play this with you. I have found that this games takes about 5 minutes to load. Usually when I play DW6, I find something else to do while I hit reset every 5 minutes until it starts. Then again, maybe we should just get new PS2's...
It is possible that your laser that reads the movie or dvd section of your games in your PS2 is burned out. There r 2 reading lasers in the PS2, one for the computer graphics and one for the video graphics. Most PS2's will have the laser burn out after awhile, its just how they work. Go buy a new one.
Had this problem, turning the audio setting in options from dolby to stereo solved it for me.
It happened to me too, we went to get 4 games (at a time, we retuerned the ones who didnt work) and it didnt work, then we cleaned the PS2 and it worked hope I helped
Its maybe your ps2 because right now im having the same problem I just wiped the part that reads the disk called the eye correct me if im wrong I just wiped it with my pinkie finger if you have the same one as I do then there should be something yellow when you open the disk tray thats what I wiped

It's maybe your PS2 DVD iserrors, just like me, I can't play as taishi chi and ling tong in musou modes, but in free modes I can use it.

To be honest with you.... the time tricks I believe do not work on PS2, It only works on PS3.If your looking for a horse king then have 2 characters with lady luck that are level 50 and go to shi ting guan du etc and hunt there
