MLB 09: The Show
You have to buy it in your training
Go 2 training and look until you see add new pitch. you need 200 training points in order to add a new pitch though
Go to edit
You go to training and go to new pitch then it lets you pick whatever pitch you want I prefer knucle curve it costs 200 training points.
Go to your training and go to the bottem and it says add new pitch but you have to have 200 training points -Answer by:mozingo2
You have good contact and good power
You have to use training points
There are many tips and tricks ... but there are no true cheat codes.
Create your player, sim the first season. dump all points into power and contact. Then start playing. Hit your goals everytime! and dump all the rest of the points into power and contact if you miss goals you wont get promoted to starting positions and be stuck as a utility player forever. Save the game after every good game ... if you have a bad game reload the last saved game and replay it ... I usually will only save if I get 30 points or more in a game.
May sound more time consuming but its really not because you make it as a starting MLB player in a shorter time.

Make him a 1st baseman he has the best contact and power and you get the most training points -Answer by:mozingo2
Put training points into H/9 so hitters will have a somewhat hard time against you
As 1 of your pitches get a knucle ball and for the attributes put 0 on speed 99 on break and cotrol and ypu will either strike them out or hit a pop fly
Put all your training points on H/9 and it means like hits allowed like if its at 99 you wont get that much hits off you -Answer by:mozingo2
Play a little closer to second base
The same thing has happened to me and after you catch it keep running but most of the time you will get there after the runner so I just throw to first. I guess it is just a glitch that it won't let you run while the ball is being thrown. -Answer by:austinaugust
As the ball gets to you hold down X and you will continue running
Its a bad glitch it happens to me all the time so if it is a lefty get closer to the bag so if it is hit to second and you will get to the bag -Answer by:mozingo2
The player stops when the ball is thrown so he has a shot at catching it and the player whothrows the ball throws it before you get to the base because he wants a shot at the DP. Honestly, whenever this happens, just throw to first.

Is there a way to get old time players on the regular rosters?
Question from: lippylip44(3)
On the main menu you go to features, then you go to roster control (or something like that), you chose what team you want to put the guy on in one of the sides and put the free agent list in the other. you select a guy on the team side and a replacement all-star on the other
Yes go to roster control and find the team you want them on and go to manage roster and player movement
In the game, go to roster control, free agents, find the one you want and hit the X button
In mine it was already on otherwise make a profile and buy the teams with points
Go to mange roster and they r on free agents.
Yes. before you enter franchise mode or a season you must go on the free agents list and trade them to the team you want. -Answer by:dc3
Yes you just have to go to roster control then free agents put them on the team you want them on save it and go to season mode then it asks you what roster you want and pick your saved one
Go to roster control then pick a team and press X on the team you what then go to free agency and you can get guys like Babe Ruth and, Nolan Ryan.
Yes just go to roster control, pick your team, and then go to player movement and go to the free agents and you will find old time players like babe ruth.
All you have to do is go to roster control and go to free agents. The old time players you unlocked can be put on your roster from there -Answer by:26Bigb98
Go to roster control and replace them with regular players. save it and then go to franchise or season and use save rosters then load it then chose the team you put them on
You go to Roster Control and they will be on the free agents list... you swap them out with now-a-days players and save the rosters...
No, but usually there is a player on the giants team that IS barry bonds, but has a different name. (In '08 he is reggie stocker, might be the same in '09)
There is not in this game because of Bond's retirment -Answer by:goducksjordan0
No but his name was always reggie stocker except in 2003 when it was barry bonds
No but his name was always reggie stocker except in 03 it was barry bonds
No because people ask the players if they want to be in the game barry bonds doesn't want to be in the game but reggie stocker is barry bonds in thegame.
Its reggie stocker in every game
Bonds withdrew from the MLB Players Association's (MLBPA) licensing agreement because he felt independent marketing deals would be more lucrative for him. Bonds is the first player in the thirty-year history of the licensing program not to sign. Because of this withdrawal, his name and likeness are not usable in any merchandise licensed by the MLBPA. In order to use his name or likeness, a company must deal directly with Bonds. For this reason he does not appear in some baseball video games, forcing game-makers to create generic athletes to replace him.
No but his batting stance is in the game as Reggie Stocker. Just recreate him. whenever he is in the game he never has the same stats.
Just go to creat player ,then name it barry bonds .also his stance is like gary shefield so choose his stance for the player you are creating that is barry bonds stance so hope you like my ansewer
Set your sliders so that human players are better than CPU and set game to Rookie. I use a Pitcher, and was called up in 2 seasons. Now at 20 years and at Hall Of Fame Level.
You cant go to do it or sim it
You just pick a sp and give him allot of stanima and try to play the entire game (if the manger alows you) then before you play your first game go to exbition and pratice pitchs try to throw to fast balls to begin then a change will 9/10 throw him off
Your player's pitches are rated, "X" is your best pitch, "O" is second best, "Triangle" is third, "Square" is fourth, "R1" is fifth. -Answer by:goducksjordan0
I usually start with a fastball, then some type of curve, but the kicker is Knuckleball or Slurve.
4 seam fast ball is usually the best and its usually x except for Tom Glavine and Mariano Rivera
I use a 4 seamer. Make velocity 99, control 99, and break 0. It helps that my Road to the Show Player is 6 10 290lbs and lefty.
A fast ball is the best becuase you have got to really chuck it at them. THat is how I am in the Major leauges. fast balls
A1:

The reggie stocker stance should be there. You can create a player with his stance.
A1:

Just make your roster changes, save it, and when you start your season choose to use a saved roster. This works on ps3 version for sure.
A1:

4 seam fastball for speed, 12-6 Curve for fooling hitters, and slider for opponents chasing outside for it.
A2:

A knuckle-ball a 4 seem fast ball for the speed and 12-6 curve -Answer by:mozingo2
A1:

The higher the attribute is the less home runs, hits or walks you allow. -Answer by:austinaugust
A2:

As your points go up the less hits, walks, and homeruns you will have. But if you don't keep up with it it will fall and instead of more you'll get more instead of less.
You have to do good not depend on cheats to move you up you could look at the cheat 4 things higher I made a cheat that could help you a bunce and it works I played 1 AA game then moved up to AAA for 10 games then moved up to mlb till I was in the HOF pretty amazing. huh
You can wait for them to buy your contract but that usually happens in 2014
Its because its all about you hitting the ball its about you getting better then you will get the majors -Answer by:mozingo2
Put them in the pros for about a month and they will develop skills. -Answer by:nathan96
Yes fill all there rateings to 99
It depends on their potential grade and performance.... always leave your top prospects in the minors for a few years they have better stats and improve quicker
Instead of that, you can sign minor leaguers with A potential ratings off of free agency to 6 year deals worth very little, and it's better than drafting players because no other team signs free agents during the season the free agent pool is all yours for the beginning season.
Why yes there is. Go to mangage roster move over to where you can see what league they are in. Select player edit player press L2 at player attributes move everything to all 99
Yes go to roster moves then edit player go to batting attributes then put everything on 99
Yes you have to sign at the end of a season or franchise or whatever mode your playing in. I usually sign them for a long time though so I dont have to do that a lot.
You can usally on do it at the end of the year
A1:

No. There are NO cheats in this game.
I dont no.it worked for me in 07 and 08 but not 09.
It does it automatically when they want you to do something special...
The third base coach will appear when he has signs for you. otherwise you dont need to worry about him.
A1:

The only way to do it is if your player is a closer, and he blows alot of saves that end up as wins. Or, in season mode, If you change some of the gamplay sliders and you simulate a shutout, the pither will lose almost no stamina, so you can start him two days straight or more. I got to 68 wins once doing that (I would have goten more but I didnt start doing that until the all star break) Only works while siming games. A 4 man rotation helps to
A2:

If you're winning... just bring in the pitcher you want to win when you're in the 4th inning with 2 outs. when he gets the next out, he should be the pitcher of record and get the win if you hold onto the lead.
A1:

Create a player then go to draft and it will tell you who drafted you and that you were invited to spring training
A2:

You have to be on the 40 Man roster to get invited to spring training after the initial start
A1:

I think so.If they have the same plug.
You can't?
U Should go really close 2 2nd base when there is a man on 1st so you have more time 2 get there.
Build your speed up and keep your hand-eye coordination good
You have to break for second as soon as the ball is hit. Once the ball is thrown in your direction you will stop to catch it.
A1:

It does somewhat. It depends on if they have a good spring training. I hit 35 homers in spring training with Mark Texeieria and his power went up a bunch. I am at all all star break and have 192 home runs.
A1:

The 4 on the screen are what your goals are. You CAN ignore these if you really want to work on something else, but, if you ever want to make it to MLB status, you should achieve your goals.
A1:

When running around the bases you need to hold down L1 and hit the button that coresponse with the base you are running to ie (2nd-is triangle, 3rd- square, home-x)
A2:

Go to profile rewards and by fast running
Are you holding x in
If the pitch is coming right at your guys legs the game won't let you swing.
Maybe your swinging too late
Its your controller I have the same problem and it only with the x button
Your controller is broken, or the ball is gonna hit you.
Probably because if you tap x instead of holding it down then it will check swing every now and then. thats what spending points on discipline helps. which basicly means discipline is pointless.
First base has the best power attributes, but your player will be dead slow for the beginning of rtts
SS has best speed 1b has best power OF has best contact.
RF has best contact and power
I found Catcher to be the best hitter for power and average.
A1:

There are no cheats for anything in the whole entire game -Answer by:nathan96
A1:

No
A1:

It isn't in 3D for PS3 or PS2 -Answer by:nathan96
I really need this if any body knows the answer....
I believe when starting an NL franchise try searching the options that pop up on the screen and try searching for a DH rule option
When you are starting a Franchise or Season There is all these options and one of them is DH Auto, Off, or the one you need On
A1:

You can't
A1:

Throw 2 fastballs outside so that they cant hit it and throw 12-6 curve and knuckleball just repeat it
Cliff Lee, Tim Lincecum, or Roy Halladay.
I think it is Tim Lincecum but another good one is CC Sabathia. -Answer by:austinaugust
Cy Young
Cc sabatha
Lincecum and lee are good but not the best. josh beckett , roy holiday, tim hudson is pretty good too
Johan Santana, I think is the best
A1:

Select a pitcher then select the bating order then it should start
IIf you have broken the hitting streak record then go to the records and see what it's at. Otherwise it pops up on your points screen every 5 games. I believe I broke the record at 48 games.
Its there ay the bottom when you are comig up to bat
Just wait until you play again, and you will see at the bottom
After I think 10 games the announcer starts saying that your trying to extend what has become a lengthy hitting streak... you get bonus points every 5 games the streak continues ... just watch your points after each game ... then keep track.
U can either see it when you come up to bat or in the MLB records. Right now, I have a 68 game hitting streak with Jonny Gomes of the Reds and 84 Home Runs and 298 RBI'S. all of which is in my MLB Records section. and I still have 61 games left to go in the seaxon.
A1:

I'm not sure if there is a way to see it, but the commentators usually mention it when you are up to bat.
A1:

I don`t think you can
A2:

You create him.
A1:

I usually turn off the arc meter and the pitching meter. the only other way is to work on that pitches control
A1:

To rob a home run red and orange rings will appear when the last ring disappears press R1 or up on the right analog stick then your player will jump up and rob the home run.
A1:

no
A1:

Retreat runners: R1, when ball is hit. When the outfielder catches the ball press triangle: 2ndbase runner, and left on d-pad: 3rdbase
A1:

Sim season to end while on an empty calander space after your season. this will generate post season play and create the post season schedule.
A1:

All you have to do is suck then they might, or dont do your avancement goals to make you even worse because avancment goals is the way to bump you up to mlb
A1:

Ure memory card is broken you have to get a knew one
A1:

The lowest rated team and RF
A2:

You should use the pirates lowest team possible so that should get you up faster!
A1:

You should make a first baseman all they have to do is hit because they dont run a lot so you can sim the 1st spring training and regular season and see your points but all of your stats are 0 but you should be able to pump us your points back at least to the 50s mabey 60s so you will be a great hitter and also be able to move up to mlb
A1:

You have to have a streak of K's and a low # of ER's and a low E.R.A. at least have 3-4 K's a game and really try not to blow GC goals (Game Changing)
