If you've never seen drifting on TV it may be a little hard to explain but, basically, the object is to slide as sideways as possible, for as long as possible and as fast as possible. Do not accelerate off the line like when you're racing, just ease off as there appears to be no penalty for going slowly on this game. When you see the orange and white striped tubes with orange lights on top, the object is to slide the car around the corner and get the front bumper as close as possible to those lights (called clipping points). I'd suggest Googling drift racing, there's bound to be some You Tube video of drift competitions just to give you an idea of what it's all about. Good luck, even knowing what the object was before I started, I find some of these drift tracks very frustrating. I've found the Nissan 250 seems to suit my style best. When it requires a European drift car I'd go with one of the BMWs (can't remember which it is other than it's yellow in the car lot). For U.S. cars, I've used several but probably the Mustang has given me the best results.

If you are using a tier 1 car you have to buy all of the upgrades for tier 1 and tier 2. Once you've done that the "X" should disappear from the tier 3 upgrade icon and you can access them. Once you've done all the 1, 2, and 3 upgrades, if your car has the "w" (for works) up in the top right corner, you can press the select button and then choose "yes" to upgrade to a works car. Of course, in all of these upgrades, you have to have the $$ to buy them.

Must be one of the cars with the "w" in the upper right corner when you're selecting the car. EA needs to do a lot more work on their instruction booklet, not everyone in the world is a computer geek!

You must use one of the cars with a "w" in the upper right corner of the selection screen. Also, there are a series of races where you have to use European, Japanese, or U.S. manufacturers cars so, you actually need a couple of works cars at least. Once you have bought all of the possible upgrades (I, II, II, Body, and Chasis), if your car has that "w", you can press "select" and it will ask if you want to buy the works conversion. Choose "yes" and you're done, as long as you have the $$ to do all of that. The first time I played the game I just happened to select the Audi TT which is a works car and even though it's a tier 1 car I went all the way through the NFS Championship using it with the works conversion.

The Nissan GT-R Spec-V can't be works converted. only the regular nissan GT-R (R35) can be works converted.
Its on the quick race...select quick race and with R1 or L1 change the tier...you will find them there...also it has 1 more category... ) enjoy

They are classed as reward cars and are available to use online and in quick race. :)

The cars you win are only available on quick race and Multiplayer. if you go on quick race click r1 or f1 and you should find the cars, you have won.
Go to quick races. then use r1 or l1 until you find reward cars

First of all, make sure that the car you buy has a "W" for works as one of it's upgrade abilities. The best cars are the tier 3's, then you must buy past ALL levels of upgrade. That means all the performance parts, all the "wing" parts, and all the "roll cage" parts. As the game will tell you, this is a costly upgrade (800 g's to 1 mil). You will notice that the "buy works" icon does not even light until you have satisfied all this. Once you have upgraded it to the max, then you click on "buy works" and spend the extra 350 grand to make it a works car. The best car to max out is the Lamborghini Murcilago and the Corvette z06... break-neck FAST!

You can only works upgrade if the car is tier 1 or 2. look in the bottom right corner of the upgrades option. if the bars aren't there you can't do the works

All NFS games (ps3 consoles) can only have one save file per account. If you want another save file, just create a new account!

Your profile on your game system is your profile for the NSF: shift game. You need to create another user profile on your console in order to have a different career profile. I am speaking from the PS3 standpoint, but would assuem that it is the same for all platforms. -Answer by:Reptyl27

You can only use them in quick race ,to unlock them you'll have to level up to certain levels and the bmw after you win the nfs live world tour grand prix

Somebody is either crazy or wrong here... the Buggatti is not a works car, it is an all-out racer. Therefore it cannot be entered in the Works Restricted competition. I second what the other guy says here, the Corvette z06 is one hot mug when you works it out. Another is the Lamborghini Murcilago. When works upgraded, it is only 10% lower on the rating scale then the Buggatti. And the z06 is about 20% lower respectively, you decide.

Use the mustang fully worked it beats the buggatti and zo6 not as power but handles better
Shelby gt500 can beat every car out if performance on works it can even beat the pagani zonda r
You should use the lamborghini murcielago lp560. it will destroy everything. I used it and it was easy beating everyone
Lamborghini murcielago lp560. watch it though cos somehow after a while it dosent go as fast at top end speed. even if you buy the car again and do same upgrades it slows down in gear 6.
With the AI settings on Hard just go to quick race 1 lap any track no opponents :)..........you race on your own but the game accepts it as a hard race.......keep doing that and the badges are yours.....hope this helps............CrzyManc

Dude number 4 the lamborghini murcielago is not a very good car because it is slower than cars like the dodge viper srt10 and the corvette z06 with the works.

You don't sell your own cars via the car lot driver. In order to sell your cars you have to first go to the MY CARS screen. Then select the car you want to sell, and look for the logo to the lower right that says SELL CAR.
If your troubles stem from actually not being able to navigate away from the car lot... I am using a PC format and I prolly can't help you. But hitting the ESC key works for PC. As for your system, whatever button that would be the equiv to an ESC key takes you back to the previous screen.

That's just a very tricky corner. You might have to slow down more than you think to hit the banked turn just right. Start on the outer part before the banked part, cut down into the banked part and speed away as fast as you can while using the driver line.

Run that race and notice when the corner "evaluating" symbol turns yellow, it's long before you actually get into that hard left turn. It's tough to keep the cars on the race line because of the rumble strips in the turn but you may be going faster than you need to try to go through that part of the turn. It took me quite a while to get that one the first time through the game because I didn't realize I was being evaluated so early. Throughout the game on various tracks, the evaluation area seems to be long before and long after the corner begins and ends.

It is a glitch in the game it happened to me on the duel race between the viper and the gt . the car just did not move and cost me 3 loses. 2 things to do just keep playing other events and come back it will soon work , or reset game. you can also delete your progress and start over. the update that just came out might have fixed it as well
I had exactly the same problem in that race neither car will move just keeps revving
I think it's a glitch because it happened to me a couple of times when I tried to use the Corvette in the International Series section of your career (Ford GT vs. Chevrolet Corvet Z06)
Read on another site that some were having the same problem with the vette, sounds like glitch in the game instead of a disc error
Go to the ea website and then nfs shift general discussion forum and you will find the fix there !
Buy the corvette race it in a quick race then go back to carrer mode and try again it worked for me on the ps3
Like the man said. Buying the corvette takes care of the problem. I did buy it and just painted it without even racing it, and it worked like a charm
Press R1 to change into 1st gear then balance your throttle so the gear turns green the darker the better you will get a faster start & a bonus for getting a quick launch

Well, first you need to choose a drift car. It doesn't need good performance, just pick out a tier 1 or 2 car that you like. I choose an E46 m3, and it's pretty good, but I use my e92 just for racing. After that, once you start in the drift race, go gently on the throttle (still include some power) and just use the handbrake. Remember in the game that I think you have to steer in the opposite direction of where you want to go. Remember that, use your skills (yes, you do have it in you... just like gatorade) and you should do good. Idk, but check if you could do a quick race on a drift, or maybe online?... Its more about if you want to take the time to prctc. start a drift match with 20 laps. your going to do 3 rounds of 20 laps each. if you cant get the hang of it. at least by the time you finished all 60 laps you should gain a lot of levels witch means lots of money'n'stuff. the tokyo track works best. you should make at least 750-1000 a lap. if you do this at level 8 you get enough xp to make you lvl 19
Yeah all about practice, not that i'm an expert by anymeans, but I have significantly improved by drifting more and more, the more you do it the more you'll get the feeling for it, it suddenly gets easier and things fall into place...no point steering loads.... just keep your speed up and steer as little as possible once your drifting...feather the accelerator round a corner to stay on track...hope this helps -Answer by:Barbelcatcher

The best way to drift is to play pro street first.... its not as complicated as shift but ull get the hang of it faster.... then upgrade to drifting on shift its more fun an more realistic.... paractice pracitice practice...............
What to do is to get the toyota corolla AE86, then mod it all the way, the more mods the easyer drifting will be, dont floor it at the start, feather the gas, most of the time you dont need to use the E-break , and keep you speed up. oh and make sure you buy the car from the drift tier of cars.
Guys seriously, the best way is to use a stock Mazda Rx-7 and stick the level 3 body package on. that way you only need to turn in and lift off the accelerator before nailing it again almost straight away. practise on a long track like Tokyo and try to rack up about 1000 - 1500 points and just keep trying

The best method is to use the race winnings from each race to upgrade as you go along: Race/Win/Upgrade! Repeat this with each new car. Rather then worry about filling those garage slots... better to concentrate on creating one major machine. And always choose "Handling" over "speed"
