It took me forever to figure this out till I got on here and found out.
Go buy any car preferablly teir 3 Works car with a W next to it, take it into the upgrade shop and upgrade everything you possibly can when you finish upgrading you will have the option to buy works by pressing the select button...After you have done that give it a try and it should finally work.

Amazingly, in the game, the Dodge Viper is much better when it has been works converted. Its probably not supposed to be, but the speed, accellaration and braking bars are full, and the handiling is nearly full ( or somthing like that ).
Trust me, i've tested every single teir 3 car that can be works converted. The viper is better. The Viper is the Best!
But in real life, Lambo is much better!

I agree with the answer above (about the dodge viper being the best), but the corvette is pretty much the same. In fact, I think the corvette might be a little better with the handling in corners.

How do you spin out opponent and get points? I've completed all levels

First ask yourself this, is spinning out someone make me drive faster...Nope! Does it make my car faster........Nope! So, if there is no benefit to spinning someone out why do it? Racing is a gentleman's sport, it requires skill. Hitting/Spinning/Trading Paint is amateur crap. EA forgot this when they made his game, clearly. Worry about lap times, best laps, clean laps.
To spin out an opponent you need to tap the back end turning them either off the track or a full 180. You also need to stay on the track.
Best way to spin out an opponent... go alongside the car as you enter into the turn, then tap the parking brake as you accelerate hard. This will not only spin the car out it will also get you stars.

This is no place to get personal, when you ask a question you aren't allowed to limit or restrict those that feel it in their best nature to respond. More to the point, the writer of response #3 is totally correct! Racing really IS a gentlemen's sport and the type of behavior that the games code writers demand is not really very realistic. In true racing such behavior would get you black-flagged and no sponsor would touch you. Furthermore, that figure-eight race at Hazyview (though fun) would NEVER occur in real life. I'm afraid that the code writers were forced to add in those unrealistic portions for fear of having the game become a flop, after all... gamers that desire the true simulation package (like #3 and I) are so rare. Reminds me of an old Hee Haw episode: Hey, I crossed Gran Touring with Mario Carts! What'd you get? NFS Shift! BTW, I'm 52 and there's no way you could have outplayed me sonny! First game I ever played was called PONG (look it up)

To get all the stars from all the races you are required to spin other drivers out there are two ways to do this 1 (and easiest) line yourself up in front of another driver to the left or the right by about 30% then hammer your brakes on full whack when you should be accelerating, or 2 strike the other driver from the rear at an angle of about 15 degrees coming in form either left or right and as soon as you make contact come right of the gas and steer in the opposite direction

racing is about choosing the way you want to drive as well. you can decide to be a gentleman and let everyone overtake you and then say sorry when you scratch one of their cars, or you can try and stop them from overtaking by ramming them and taking them out of the picture. plus, its fun and its better than going around a racing track in a racing car track at 30 mph
if you want a fair, slow and non-contact racing game then go sit and cry about it because the point of gaming is to have fun. 30 mph is not fun.
p.s: never ram a car from behind. it slows you down and speeds them up! i've had a lot of experience on racing games.

Sorry no. These cars are won by leveling up or by winning car battles. They are upgradeable like regular cars and you can sell these back (excluding works) but the car itself is not sell-able.

I would say the pagani zonda R of F because ALOT and I mean alot like 80% of the people be cheating in the game...they never want to have a clean good fair match...thats why if they will ever do that in real life...they would be disqualified.. if you can control the Lamborghini Mercialago LP640 with the works...if you know how to control it that would be good....the Bugatti?...no it is so bad in sharp turning. but in straight aways it is awesome :)

When you are buying a car go to tier 2 then press triangle and scroll across to you see a European car it will say at the top off there stats

Keep the raceing line green for 1 full lap no yellow or red

No, you have to select the ones with the curved arrow. Go to the car lot and use the LB or RB to scroll through Tier1, 2, 3, etc. until you get to 'Drift Cars'. Those are the only ones you can use to drift.

Go into Options menu and switch off traction control. You'll get off the line quicker, but the more more powerful cars are then easier to spin off on the track
And if your using a manual car, Just shift into 1st gear and then rev it won't let you go anywhere until its a green
In an automatic or manual car just put it in first, I ALWAYS win, remember it can be done with AUTOMATIC too.

Well there is two ways, you can click on upgrades where you can buy peformance and body kit upgrades and there is tuning where you can ajust the setting of the car to make it as fast or as easy to drive as you want.
You ggo to car garage in the Home menu. then press upgrades.
In the upgrades and go to level 1,2,or3
Upgrades are the best way, just buy the ones that will help your car's weaknesses. You should return it to a place like game stop, the employees know allot about the games, and if that dos not work replace your ps3
I dunno i've encountered glitches, but nothing like that..... It could well be as scratch on the disc and the scratch could've been caused by you so EA may say that you did it and they do not have 2 replace it but they might replace it..... But send it back anyway.....
I've had some of the same freezes and glitches, ended up switching to cockpit view to help keep it from happening as often. Once I downloaded the latest updates for the game, it stopped having issues...
You get the car when you get driver level 50. It is found in quick race and online under "Reward Cars". No you cannot buy it.

Learn how to set the fine tuning, lean the brake bias 25% - 75% to the rear. And when you enter into a turn simply hitting the brakes should be enough to cause the rear wheels to break loose. Another method is careful use of the parking brake. Put simply, as you go into a turn, tap the parking brake to get the rear wheels to break loose, then accelerate hard in order to maintain the drift. Precise use of the gas will keep you from going off the track.

The corvette dose work. it is a tier 3 car. check the car level allowed of where you are trying to race. if racing online and you have your corvette maxed out you can only race unrestricted.

You have to choose a car that is drift capable. In the car garage, as you scroll through all the cars on the different tiers there are symbols in the upper right. Some cars are only nitrous capable, some cars are works convertible ("W" symbol) and then some are drift capable. I'm not sure what that symbol really is but it looks a little like an apostophe to these old eyes. Anyway, unless the car has that symbol you cannot use it in drift competition. In most cases I've had very good results with the Nissan 250 but there are some competitions where you will have to use a USA or European car. The Viper has been pretty good for me and the BWM 135i is good for the European races.

Try catching up to your opponent and pushing the middle of his car to the left or right side. then push his/her rear or front bumper (whichever works for you, I think rear is easier,) to left or right. eventually he or she will start spinning out. If you don't get what I mean, then go to youtube and search pit maneuver. its what cops do in a car chase. It spins the suspect's car out.

At the beginning, you don't need to tune your car. just customize the car with some performance parts. I used the BMW i32 and it worked fine. you don't need body kits. when overtaking, draft them, or follow your opponent until your really close. then turn and you will overtake him or her. if he tries to push you, just nudge him a little bit. don't dirty overtake your opponents this early, or your car will probably lose control, and you might lose the race.

This one drove me nuts for a while but I finally realized that you have to use the hand brake "X" button instead of the regular brake L2. On the race at Road American I was using the Camaro but it really doesn't matter which car you use. There's a long sweeping right hand turn about half way around the track and that seemed like the best place to do this but I had no luck. It turns out that the turn right after that worked best for me. It's not a real sharp turn and that seems to be the key because if you run off the track while sliding, it apparently doesn't count. Go to the right edge of the track just as you begin that turn and keep the accelerator pressed down while pressing the hand brake button at the same time. On the other track where you have to use the Lotus I believe I got the slide in on the first left hand turn after the front stretch. Go to the left edge and as you begin to turn left hit the hand brake while keeping the throttle on full. By the way, the hand brake is also important to use in the drift competition as it gets you into a drift a lot quicker than the foot brake L2 button.

No, I don't think so. When you set up a new player profile you start from the beginning again.

Select a Works updgradable car from the Car Lot and then you must do ever available upgrade (which can be costly) then you must Works Upgrade the car by pressing Select. This will cost an additional $250k and cannot be undone.

On your "clean laps" question: you don't have to win to get credited for a clean lap. Sounds like you are trying to get all of the stars like I am currently doing. Basically, what you have to do is race a lot of these races at least twice. I race the first time to try to win and get all the threshold points. Then, when I need to get the "clean race" star, I just hit retry at the end and start the race again. Because the Nordschleife track is probably nearly impossible to drive at speed without running off track or hitting other cars, I just sit there when the green light comes on and let everyone go. Then, I drive very slowly making sure I don't run off the track. It's boring and a pain having to go so slow on such a long track but that's the only way I've found to get the star.
