I dont think there is a special car. To get level S just keep doing 1 lap races on that track for a while.
Standard on the select button, but you can change it in options

All you do is after the countdown press "select" to change view modes and this view will be the same until you restart the game, it will go to default after a game restart.

I'd recomend switching change view to "R", and assigning handbrake to "Circle" this would represent a similar layout to the classic console games beforehand.

By reducing the down force in the car setup option you can increase speed slightly but at the cost of grip during corner.

You cant in this gran turismo
Only in Drift Trial can you increase your car's horsepower and reduce its weight
There is no types of upgrades that I can find what so ever
In the PSP version you can't upgrade your performance or anything like wat the previous gran turismos were able to do, but if you select the car and make it one of your favorites, you can do a thing called a quick tune when you are about to start a normal race (not a challenge I think). This allows you to increase horsepower and weight reduction on some cars it all depends on the car, some let you and some don't. Have fun! )
@ A7: You can increase HP and decrease weight in drift trial mode. If you can do a drift trial in that car(you can with every car) than you can increase HP and decrease weight.

I haven't found a way to sell a car but as for the 2nd question you cant I haven't found any way to do that yet

You only can sell a car to other player by multiplayer mode. but only the cars that are tradeball, car's like mclaren SLR and others.

Your question implies that doing the driving challenges are a requirement for game progression. That is false. I personally do not find the driving challenges very intuitive so I just do general races for money to buy cars.
U dont hav to do the challenges......u can just race around in single player mode....and get money.......

Ok so you need to go to the playstation network then go to add ons if you search then you will find a car pack that is free and wala you have a buggati!
