If you run full speed at the box from right before the black area and jump face first into the box, you will get a star every time which is the highest lives out of the 3 when you get all 3 stars.
First, go to the door in the door surrounded by bricks. you will be warped in the place with the fireball things and lava underneath. then go to the straght and you will find the star power-up(its beside the brix) and avoid dropping down below.. Go to the last door (be quick!) hit the power thing that changes the bricks into coins then run till you find a secret door(its color is white) then enter it. you will be warped again into a place. Run again to the corner. you will find two bricks. hit the socond one and another power thing will appear then you will see two secret doors(the one is near you and the another one is in the end). Enter it you will find the boss in that fortress.
You need to have a leaf, to be able to fly... you need to kill the beetles, and stomp on the turtle. then once you grab the turtle, you need to fly upwards, and throw the turtle to kill the snapper things... then go through the pipe, then you have finished the level. Clear all the blocks from near the end, stomp the turtle once, then VERY quickly, pick up the shell and fly up the shaft directly above you once you get to the top, release the turtle into the pit, and youll be able to use the pipe.
Bfore the end of the level yhe top opening is the exit for the level you have to run full speed to fly while holding a turtle in its shell and throw it at the flowers guarding the tunnel then go through the tunnel to finish the level. took me a while too.
Once you find the P thing that turns the blocks into coins, you have to go through that white door. Go through that first tunnel and go all the way down and fight
When you go out of that tunnel jump down to the other tunnel go through run almost to the opposite side of the part where the ghosts are and fly up to another tunnel
You have to be the Mario that can fly and then break some of the blocks until you find the block with the "P" on it. After you press down the "P" jump onto the platform and go in the white door. This is when the flying comes in. You should be in a room with a lot of "dead" stuff. Just run and fly. On the ceiling somewhere should be a tube. go up that and there you go!
You have to use the bear suit. You get to the room where there are all sorts of things that are "dead". Candles without flames and stuff like that. Then you have to fly. To do that you have to run really fast by moving and pressing "B". Then when you're running as fast as possible press "A" repetitively...You should be flying! On the ceiling there is a tube that you must go up. Good luck!
Thats the castle with a lot of pipes with pirhanas right? well you have to time all the jumps down... the first jump you go all the way to the wall hold b and run and jump when the pirhana is about to go down... then there is a ghost. turn away from it and let it come to u. then jump over it and land on the next pipe. then there is a spinning ball thing. jump on top of that and wait for the next pirhana to go down before you jump. the first block there has a star get it and go as fast as you can because you can kill the falling blocks with the star... then there six tubes in a row the first and third have pirhanas in the so wait until they are all the way up and jump over the ghost. go to the next part where there will be two pirhannas in the same place. wait until they r both fully extended then jump through. after that you will get to a powerup.... get it then continue on and there will be another falling block. jump towards it but then land back on the pipe you started on... the block should fall. on its way back up do a short jump and hold b so you run through then jump on top of that pipe and turn to the left a ghost will come... turn back before it gets to close then jump over it and jump againto the last platform.. but quickly jump up and to the right from there and fall to the left on to the pipe below and you will enter another room. there will be two skeleton turtles and two rotating balls. then a falling block. this part is difficult but its all about timing. then climb the stairs fall down the other side and there you go... and sry if I forgot about some parts im doing this through memory
When you see the lot of coins don't jump down and get them look on two solid blocks and a door will appear to make the door appear on the fourth down row beside the solid blocks bust the breakable blocks untill a p block appears and get on it hope I helped you...
What to do is after he shoots the fireball things junp to a differnet place with out getting hit then he will smash ssome of the bricks and keep going until he falls down the hole where he smashed the bricks

I think that's a fake, if you have a P Wing you can fly to the top of the previous room and there is a tube up there that will take you to to boss, but I don't know what to do if you don't have a P wing this is where I am stuck I was actually looking for an answer myself.

To get through it you can't be about to be not able to fly and that leads to the boss....
I highly reccomend you using a powerup and try to dodge enemies jump when fish jump to hit you when the water rises go on the highest platform and jump so you wont get hit.Soon if you keep on doing this im sure you'll win! -Answer by:pokemon27

Hmm.....to me that level is easy. When you go in, you have to treat it with the same care as 3-3 and 3-8, even though there is no Boss Bass. Go in Super Mario, get tho the pipe with all the blue colored blocks, and shoot one at the large ? block. A leaf will come out and you'll become Raccoon Mario. The level should be much easier as that as long as you take it slow. Hope this helps! -Answer by:TanookiSister
Well you just hold 1 untill you start to run fest then you keep hiting 2 hit hit hit hit then you strat to FLY bu t you first must have the tail GOOD LUCK :)
At the last opening in the ceiling where the jumping flowers are guarding the entrance to the end of the level, fly to the top holding a turtle in its shell and throw it down at the flowers. then go through the tunnel to finish the level.
At the edge of world 2 map on the top right corner you will see a boulder use your hammer to break it and you will find a "secret area" be sure to use a star to beat this red guy there are 2 of them and they both shoot fire tough to beat. I'm not for sure it could be in the mushroom house too. One of them gives you a frog suit so cute.
